Standing 6'1" tall and weighing in at 194 pounds the Latvia winger spent last season playing for Prizma Riga, HK Ozolnieki/Monarhs and SK Saga in the Latvia and Latvia 2 leagues. Zembergs commented, "I'm very happy to have signed for the Capitals. It's a fantastic opportunity for me to play in this league. I have heard lots of good things about the city of Edinburgh. I just hope I can play beautiful hockey for the team and help the Capitals make the play-offs." Marcis is a gifted goal scorer and last season had combined totals of 71 points from 35 goals and 36 assists over 85 games and a total of 56 penalty minutes. He is a highly competitive player who never gives up on play and is dangerous with the puck close to the net. Scott Neil, Edinburgh Capitals General Manager, commented, "Marcis played for the Latvian U20 team alongside ex Newcastle Vipers player Toms Hartmanis and a number of other skilled players who now have NHL and KHL experience. Marcis is noted for his hard work and goal scoring ability and is determined to make his mark with the Capitals in the EIHL next season." edinburgh-capitals.com/news/detail.php?id=1589for all player signings and players leaving EIHL teams visit www.hockeynetuk.co.uk and look in player movement and signings section

Davies back with Stingrays 11/08/2011 Hull Stingrays can today confirm the signing of British forward Matty Davies for the 2011/12 Elite League campaign. The 21-year-old returns to Hull Arena having ended last season at English Premier League side Peterborough Phantoms after leaving Stingrays in January for a breach of club discipline. But player-coach Sylvain Cloutier has decided to give Davies, who has registered 30 points in 88 games for Stingrays, a second chance. Cloutier said: “I am really happy to have Matty back. He brings depth to the line-up and brings more offence to the team. “He is a local kid and he should be playing for his local team. What happened last year, happened. Matty has learned from that, we all have. www.hullstingrays.com/davies-back-with-stingrays-p172153for all player signings and players leaving EIHL teams visit www.hockeynetuk.co.uk and look in player movement and signings section

Oh surprise surprise another expensive AHL player to finish the roster.... What would it matter if every import player was in the AHL last year? Aslong as we are spending within our means then we (and any other team) should buy the best players they can.

Belfasts roster consists of just 8 games more in the AHL that panthers.

Capitals bring in Brit support with McIntyre Thursday, 01 September 2011 Danny McIntyre makes a welcome return as he signs for the Edinburgh Capitals. McIntyre is a player who can play forward or defence when required so this will make him a great utility player. Danny McIntyre said, "I am looking forward to the new season playing for the Capitals. I currently work as a personal trainer and this has helped me prepare. I think I will be in the best shape of my career as the new season starts." Scott Neil, Edinburgh Capitals General Manager, commented, "Danny has developed into a strong reliable player who is not flashy but effective. He has clearly developed his own strength and conditioning over the last year and his position as a personal trainer has helped him focus on developing this area and with this preparation I think Danny will have his best season ever as a Capital." www.edinburgh-capitals.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=51:capitals-bring-in-brit-support-with-mcintyre&catid=2:news&Itemid=7for all player signings and players leaving EIHL teams visit www.hockeynetuk.co.uk and look in player movement and signings section

Fife Flyers can confirm the return of ex-Fifer Willie Nicolson. Nicolson (21) spent the past season playing in the Elite Ice Hockey League with Scottish rivals Edinburgh Capitals playing 46 games. Nicolson will joins Kyle Horne who iced with Edinburgh Capitals, Chris Wands, Matt Cohen and Tommy Muir on the blue line for Flyers. Nicolson, renowned for a ferocious slapshot, will bring more Elite experience to the Flyers team but knows what will be expected when he pulls on a Flyers shirt having spent 3 seasons with Flyers previously. Willie joins a list of players on the Flyers team who have represented Team GB, after having represented on 3 occasions at the World Junior Under 18 Championships and knows what it takes to be part of a winning team having won 13 different titles with Flyers over his 3 year spell. Welcome back to the barn Willie and we look forward to you letting rip that slapshot once again.

Stars sign Holland on two way contract Published: 02/09/2011 at 14:28 Dan Ceman has signed Brit Dean Holland on a two way contract from Telford Tigers in the English Premier League. Dean played a few games for Stars at the beginning of last season before joining Newcastle Vipers. The Geordie said, 'I'm really looking forward to this weekend's games against Fife, there should be great rivalry playing against our closest neighbours. I have signed for Telford Tigers in the EPL and I've also signed a two-way contract with Stars for the season and although I will have a busy season with Telford I will turn out for Stars whenever fixtures permit.' Dan added, 'Dean Holland provides us with depth through the season and is a good solid player. We liked him when he was here early last season so we asked Telford Tigers if we could sign him to a two way contract and they agreed. He'll be busy down there but whenever he is not playing for Tigers he will be available for us and it will be great to have him on these occasions throughout the season.' www.dundeestars.com/news/news_item.asp?NewsID=486for all 2 way player signings visit www.hockeynetuk.co.uk and look in player movement and signings section
