Armstrong bought out by TOR; disappointed it didn't work out as I liked him during his time in ATL & PITT but couldn't stay healthy.

Great hit, length a bit questionable. I know the Flyers are probably the worst for it, but there really needs to be a 5 year cap on contract length... Interesting that LAK trying to move Bernier now and believe they can get a first rounder for him.

Best day of the hockey year today, bar none.
Big names in play: Parise, Carle, Suter, Brodeur, Doan, Whitney, Parenteau, Radulov, Semin
Look out for trades: Ryan, Nash, Weber, Bernier, Luongo, Bouwmeester
After that poncey diva Schultz made his mind up last night there's a little less on the table but I can see a few more trades today than you'd usually see. Maybe the holy grail of a sign and trade?
Can't wait, all kicks off 5pm GMT.

TOR aren't going to do anything with a wow factor even though they have $14m in cap space - wouldn't be surprised if Connolly, Lombardi or Komisarek get moved however...

Staal signs long term in CAR; 10 year deal worth $60m Hmmm... almost the same deal that the Penguins offered him. Pretty much proves that he was tired of playing third fiddle behind Crosby and Malkin.

I like this one from the NHL's current Free Agent Frenzy blog:- I would SO love the Wild to get Parise (and wouldn't mind Suter neither)... but let's be realistic - it's not going to happen. High-profile UFA's are unlikely to come to the Wild yet - not unless they get offered ridiculous wonga... the likes of Parise etc are going to want to go to a contender, and sadly Minnesota aren't that yet. According to Capgeek, they've got about $18m in cap space left with 20 players already signed, so they've got room for it... but there are 17 teams with more cash (although all but one - Carolina - have got more roster slots to fill). More years slowly building up...

Not sure what he's done to earn $6m a year for that long.

Things are getting a little silly.

You're right... quite simply ridiculous (if true). Getting? They've been silly for several years... I saw somewhere (I forget where - one of the NHL media columns) that it was suggested that a ceiling be put on contracts... nothing more than 5 years at a time. Makes sense to me...

The Flyers are very much in the hunt for both too, most people have confirmed the highest bid is over $100m for the term.

Yesterday was disappointing really, hopefully Suter & Parise make their choices and teams scramble to make trades as a consequence of missing out.
McClement was a good pick up by TOR and I'm glad the club avoided some of the ridiculous amounts of money being offered for 3rd/4th liners.

Aye, was all a bit disappointing.
I actually think we might now get Parise. I'd prefer Suter.

Aye, was all a bit disappointing. I actually think we might now get Parise. I'd prefer Suter. Got a feeling it will be a fight between the pens and flyers for Parise, with the flyers coming out on top. If we miss out on Parise ive got a feeling we may be doing business with someone and Paul Martin being the guy that makes way.

Hell, if you sign Parise you get the benefit of your arch rivals NOT signing him. I want him now.
