so here we are, 1 year on and you could still have the same argument about #13. He has more skills than some team's, but (for example last night), he really didn't look bothered. His penalty shot was awful, saved only by the fact that Gascon's was even worse. Can the team afford to carry Galbraith in the hope that he will turn it on in the big matches. Or, instead of cutting Gascon who you at least notice on most shifts, is it time to turn Jade loose.

I think across the team last night you have to realise that they are nearly all feeling the effects of a virus, from what I heard Jade was one of those who was on the verge of being left out as he was ill along with Bruce and Cameron.
FWIW I think talk of cutting Galbraith is barmy, he's as good now as he was at the start of the season, one off game doesn't make a season. He works much much harder than last season, his forecheck is good ratehr than non existent and his skills quite often leave defencemen looking stupid. A joy to watch and his points total, when combined with a rounded view of how he's played acorss the entire season, leaves me thinking that even the suggestion that he should be cut is ludicrous.

I am sorry but it is so obvious what this team is lacking.. We need at least another centre (not bruce) who can win a faceoff because it gets silly that bruce takes all the faceoffs even when it isnt his shift Oh and we need a big hardnosed defenceman who can stand up to the leagues bullys, (stand up Laroque we are talking to you!!) Imho we dont need to gas Galbraith but if we could find a gem like belfast have with swez then i would gas several others before i got to Galbraith... That isnt to say there are times he reminds me of hadden!!!

The guy is different class, he'd easily be on the top line on any team in this league!

Ludicrous thread. Absoloute madness to suggest Jade is being carried by the team. He is the standout player this year and if you get chance to speak to him you will see he has a passion about the club and his game this year that surpasses most others. On the road this is even more evident than it is at home. This is just the sort of " The player to bash this week is,....." thread that brings this forum down. Complete tosh.

You must be high to think jade is being carried by the team. He is our top point scorer with almost 2 points a game. What a pointless comment

I was a critic last year, and wouldn't have bought him back due to that, but I think you're being very harsh. He's putting in much more effort this season than last, and he was always the most gifted guy on the roster. Him and McAslan is a superb combination.

What a load of tosh. The effort Jade has put in over the summer to drop the weight deserves so many plaudits on his own. He has been much improved this season and has proved alot of people wrong. He has fully justified his return and praise should also lie with Corey providing him with another chance.

Please sack Galbraith! It would be absolutley amazing for all the other Elite league clubs if you did! What a daft thread! I watched the Coventry v Notts game on Sky yesterday and for me Galbraith was one of the better players by a coutry mile, his passing is top drawer along with his vision! I'd be one happy Steeler (takes a lot this year) if you sacked him!

It's all been said, really: I think I'd happily cut any combination of three players from the current roster rather than cut Galbraith and literally every single player ahead of him.
And yes - you do notice Gascon on most of his shifts but, with the exception of one killer assist per month, it's his weaknesses that draw most of the attention.

why lock the thread? this could go gold along with that guy who wanted Askey as a back up!
FWIW.... was sunday your first game since last season? I wasnt there but I assume if he had an off day and you have only seen him last year and 1 bad game I might be inclined to agree.
I was a big critic of him last year. I still believe all those that did criticise him last year were right to do so.
To slag him off now though? Hes one of the best guys out there by a country mile. Id cut practically anyone over Galbraith.
Now where did you get that crack you quite obviously been smoking for at least 3 weeks solid

Pointless thread - can one of the mods close it? Why lock the thread? I would have thought that all of the replies pretty much answer the question... and, quite frankly, it makes a refreshing change to see so many people supporting a particular player - especially one that has come in for (mostly justified IMHO) criticism in the past. And personally speaking, I'd say we'd have to be insane to let this guy go. Even if he does have an off night or two (and what player doesn't?) he's still one of the best we have.

No don't delete it. This thread belongs in Cage Forum Gold!
The opening post is ridiculous! Did the poster not see Cameron Mann's goal? How did the puck get there? It was a simple drop pass from Jade Galbraith after he forced a turnover on the boards in front of the penalty box, carried the puck past 4 players weaving in and out before cutting inside. Galbraith is the most skilled player on the team and possibly in the league.
His commitment and passion for the team and the club is 1st class, up there with Bruce and Danny. If I were picking the team for next season, I would have signed Jade already!!

If I were picking the team for next season, I would have signed Jade already!! You're not the only one, if we are able to i'd want to see a multi year deal handed to Galbraith and Stevie Lee. And for God's sake give Molin an offer he can't refuse!

And for God's sake give Molin an offer he can't refuse! Id agree whole heartedly. Id find it difficult to argue against it. There are few guys you could find a place for on most teams and Molin and Galbraith are 2 such players. Stevie Lee deserves his spot as you really cant level much critiscism at him. hes a young brit, he wont be your next all star D man or match imports for quality but in work ethic and once again, hes british.... you cant not want him.

I just think the massive thing in terms of Stevie Lee is the guy is just a kid, he has so much to learn, and if Corey can get him, and other promising youngsters like Wheldon, Ward etc time over in Canada like he did in the summer they will only get better.
As far as Molin goes I think it's a real shame he's not plying his trade regularly anywhere but in training at his local rink in Sweden. A talent like his should be on show more often. That said I can see his reasons, family have to come first.
Jade, well now he's sorted his attitude to the game (and, from what I understand his wider attitude in life) out he's an outstanding hockey player and thoroughly nice guy. I think he's learnt a lot about himself so far this year. Have not really spoken to him much, but on a couple of ocassions where I have he comes across as a passionate guy who knows how much he let not only himself but Corey and all of us fans down last year. He deserves to be on a team that wons some silverware this year.
