6-0 to freezers.
decent first and third period (1-0 and 0-0) but totally over-run in the second (5-0, and 20-5 SOG)

We were going to go with a spare before the chl additions came in, but Steve ward decided to retire before he came over. Something to do with a recurrence of an injury. We clearly could do with a spare if lee and Robinson move on.

FRANK: FOUR-MATCH BAN September 25, 2014
ELITE LEAGUE DEPARTMENT OF PLAYER SAFETY PRESS RELEASE
Player: Chris Frank Number: 22 Team: Braehead Clan
During the game Cardiff Devils v Braehead Clan on Saturday 20th September 2014, The Department of Player Safety has been asked to review a hit Chris Frank made on Cardiff #93 Doug Clarkson.
The Department of Player Safety has reviewed this incident and has come to the following conclusions...
• The hit is an illegal check to the head in which the head was recklessly targeted, with the elbow making principal point of contact with Clarkson’s head. • Frank leaves his feet prior to making the hit. • His elbow is extended when making the hit. • There is no intent to play the puck. • The hit is avoidable. • The opponent did not make any sudden movements just prior to contact. • There is an apparent injury to Clarkson as a result of this hit to the head. Although he temporarily remained in the game, his condition worsened and was removed from the game, taking no further part.
The Department of Player Safety has awarded a match penalty for checking to the head and neck under IIHF Rule 124 for this hit and has suspended Frank for four (4) matches.

I enjoyed that. Was a bit surprised at Steelers in that I was expecting better. A great tactic to get Hewitt to look like Roy though. Did Ken really announce that Jason Robinson was #91? Lol, he certainly did. A great player, though with an odd shaped ball.

yea, 0 from 18 on the PP in 2 games tells you a story. Thought we often took one touch too many. Lawrence - probably stood out as not afraid to have a shot.

I thought we completely outplayed the Steelers tonight with the only real negative that we couldn't find the back of the net more than twice.

Th cc knock out round doesn't finish until jan 3rd. Then 2x qfs, then 2x sfs, then 1x final. I think it's still going to be march before it's done.

I thought clarkey was expected to make his return against Cardiff last weekend. If he misses another weekend that is a major set back. With the club would communicate better on the injury front. I wonder if they think it will impact on the attendance if we appear to be short?

We have now lost all but 2 of the short term contract players, of which m.Lee may still injured. Higgins and farmer out injured, clarkie may be back, but possibly not match fit. Gonna be a tough ask.

Maybe a wakeup call to all eihl teams to properly consider this risk in their business continuity plans? That is easy to say but just how likely an occurrence is this and what are realistically the contingency options? If, for instance, the arena pad at the NIC were out of use for an extended period of time, the existence of a second pad in Nottingham would hardly be of help for games. Whilst I'm aware in the LPS days Panthers played a few games out of Peterborough I'd suggest that, given the number of season ticket holders Panthers have far outweighs the capacity of Peterborough, we'd be in a similar boat as Sheffield are currently with Ice Sheffield. I'm not saying i know the answer or that there is indeed an easy answer, but a Business Continuity Plan / Disaster Plan is a process to consider the potential What If's for those potentially serious issues. Alternatively, they can cross their fingers.

I thought the Pk was decent (though we did get drawn out of position on occasion), which through the CHL we had quite a reasonable number to practice this with the PK lines. I thought the PP was poor, and ended with a stat of 0/8. I don't think we really got a lot out of the CHL relating to this aspect of the game, so maybe a lot of work still to be done. Discipline needs improving, we can't go 16mins on PK and 'expect' to win. Corey has spoken a lot about speed and speed of transition, i was generally disappointed, i thought we were often very slow getting out of our zone once we had taken control of the puck. Face-off's, not sure how many we won lost, but when i paid attention we probably lost 2:1.
All in all, i thought the team worked hard, and Benny made a real nuisance of himself in front of Bowns.
Match night The music needed upgrading, i thought it got worse. Quiter than ever over in block16. The intro is flat and didnt get my adrenaline going.
Great to get the win, but nights like that will not not get me turning out on a freezing tuesday night in january i'm afraid.
Probably a too negative post for game 1 of a long season yet to unfold.
