Before the CHL started I thought it would an awesome result for the Panthers if they could even get a point in these six games, and with Hamburg's lack of offense against Lulea and Lukko then this looks like the best chance. The DEL teams are all comparatvively worse than I expected in the CHL - think they're only winning about 25% of their games, compared to 70%+ for the Swe and Fins. Looking forward to it - hope the players are too.

Both teams out of tournament, Panthers will still go full pelt at it I believe to show that wildcard wasn't wasted
All depends how Hamburg approach it personally I think the prospect of being embarrassed by losing to wildcard entry will result in them going for win
Still think we can get a point or even the win from this game

It's our best chance certainly, I still think Hamburg will have a bit too much for us over 60 minutes, but it should be a closer affair than the Lukko & Lulea ties.

We have now lost all but 2 of the short term contract players, of which m.Lee may still injured. Higgins and farmer out injured, clarkie may be back, but possibly not match fit. Gonna be a tough ask.

Wish these games would have taken place before the start of the new season as they would have been valuable Pre-Season games however since both teams have been eliminated and we have started our season, I see these two games as a bit of an annoyance therefore I can't see both coaches wanting a physical fast game, please don't get me wrong I am going to the game and hope it will be a good game however on the grand scheme of things I don't want us picking up any injuries or getting even more tired after the weekend games.
On a CHL topic do teams who finish 3rd in their group qualify for the Continental Cup like in Football with the Champions League and the Europa League? Thank You

I think CN will have a real go at this. The spectacle of playing Hamburg at home plus I am sure that a few of our players will want to get noticed as well. I think we will give it a real go.

One question, Were we unlucky with who we drew in our group or it didn't matter which group we played in as the results were likely to be the same? Thank You

It could have been easier, but it was always going to be a very tough ask whoever we drew.
In football terms,something like.
Notts County Bayern Munich AC Milan Paris St Germain

And honest answer, propably you would have ended up fourth no matter who'd been in your group. But no need to be ashamed, Panthers have done good pr for them nevertheless with the attitude they've shown on the ice. Btw how has the domestic league started for them?

Just one game played, 3-1 @ home. Nothing spectacular but by all accounts had the measure of Cardiff and restricted them to just one chance. Another couple of games this weekend though including our biggest rivals!

Thank You I may be wrong, but I believe the continental cup is for champs of the leagues below europe's top seven leagues. On previous years champs of the second tier leagues of the biggest hockey countries were able to participate but now as cc is linked to chl it's no more possible

It's my understanding that Belfast were offered the spot in the CHL but declined - Not sure whether Belfast are playing in the Continental Cup or not.
This might be a controversial subject but should we not play K-Wall in this game. In all reality we are playing only for 3rd place and pride, however should he get injured during this game and is out for a significant amount of time a la last season, it's something we would regret and come 22:00 Tuesday night, we would be speculating on who we would be bringing in to cover.

Yes they are, off to Bremerhaven in Germany later on in October. This might be a controversial subject but should we not play K-Wall in this game. Not for me, I think if we play Dan we're getting a cricket score. I also don't think it'd be showing the correct respect for the competition, we're invitees to this and owe it our best efforts, even in defeat, and that means Kowalski. Injuries can happen at any time, if he gets hurt we just have to deal with it.

I understand the need to respect the competition, however we have shown that by getting extra players in on short term contracts (Too short) and we gave it our best shot but we are out of this competition and we shouldn't take any unnecessary risks with our star Goalie. I know that injuries happen but we shouldn't risk K-Wall in what is a dead rubber game.

It's my understanding that Belfast were offered the spot in the CHL but declined Yes because the arena wasn't available for the dates the CHL needed for TV rights because Ant n Dec had already booked the venue. KWall needs to start. There's a risk in every game of any player getting injured,it's sport. If he gets injured,he gets injured. That's life. He's more likely to be injured playing in the EIHL than in the CHL games though!

Looking forward to this one.
It might be our last CHL game so I would hope and expect us to give it our best shot, which means Kowalski in goal.
I wonder if there is any chance of seeing Lee or Clarke on the ice for this one?

Mark Lee won't play before the Hamburg away game, and that is dependent on a scan result just before the game.

I have just been looking on the ticket site and it looks as though there could be a reasonable sized crowd tomorrow night which would be good. Really looking forward to this one as am taking my brother to this one.

Yes they are, off to Bremerhaven in Germany later on in October. That's interesting that Belfast have to play a German side at this stage when last season we had to deal with a Latvian, Dutch and Spanish (granted they were a late replacement for I believe was a Estonian) side. Hopefully they will have 3 gruelling games, qualify for the next stage and have a huge backlog of away fixtures that have to be fulfilled midweek like we had to do with all those midweek Cardiff away games thus probably eliminating them from title contention. Sorry for the diversion.

The German team hosting the event, Fischtown Penguins of Bremerhaven, play in the 2nd tier of German hockey, so they aren't the same standard as the teams playing in the CHL, such as Hamburg who play in the top division. However, the other team definitely through to Belfast's group is Tilburg, and with the Dutch league collapsing, will some-one else take their place, or will two teams qualify from the preliminary round taking place thia weekend in Sofia, between the hosts, and teams from Serbia, Spain and Turkey.

Its going to be tough again tonight. Such a shame that we are so far away from full strength as it will be 3 lines V 4 again.
I think if we are to have any chance of it being a close game we need to get in front early and hope to hit them on the break. Will obviously need Kowalski to have one of his unbelievable games.
They appear to have 7 fit D men and 13 forwards. We have 6 D including Oakford and 9 forwards including Mosey.
Some other stats regarding the 2 teams rosters.....
Hamburg

According to the website they've got 5 or 6 questionable too, so might be a bit more even. Or they'll all be fine
