Apologies... I was just quoting from THF.....
As for the 'cut' itself... I'm wondering if this is just CC being used as a scapegoat. They've conceded a fair few goals... but they've not been doing too well at lighting the lamp themselves (apart from that 10-goal blowout against Hull). Add to that their domination of the PIMs table, and this looks to me like more of a cosmetic change than anything else...
Ah well - I liked CC, and in some ways I'm glad we won't be facing him in a Vipers jersey this season.

I heard this 'rumour' whilst in Rouen, but thought must have been just that, i.e. speculation, seeing as there was no mention of it when we returned, but it's confirmed in the local Newcastle rag. Aubry's name was also mentioned as a replacement, so it's been brewing for a while. CC wasn't enjoying life up there, so I don't think he'll be too upset. Probably a case of mutual agreement. Newcastle Evening Chronicle articleLink edited.

I think CC would have gone earlier but for the fact we have not had any home games for 3 weeks. It costs about £5K to release & replace a player. With no match receipts the Vipers could not readily put there hand on £10K bearing in mind we released Myhers & brought in Morgan. I don’t think this is the end of the changes in Mobilix land. I have also herd CC & his family could not settle in Newcastle.

Yes, well the writer is totally confused and spelt Cruickshank without the c i.e Cruikshank and then must have looked him up in his reference book and found he played for Bison. Bit pathetic.

Rumour has it he may head down to Slough, maybe as replacement for Shane Johnson who has failed to make an impact.
(Import for import replacement obviously, not possitionaly)

I feel sorry for Cruickshank, you dont become a poor netminder overnight Newcastle need to look at the defence first. I might be wrong but Curtis seems to have priced himself out of some clubs price range at the start of the season. But no way would I swap Lindsay for him, i feel he has earned the right of at least a full season.

One thing occurs to me..... If a team is shipping a load of goals, it's going to be the fault of the netminder and/or the defence. Rob Wilson is the coach - he has to decide whether to focus the blame on one or the other. Rob Wilson is focussing on the netminder. Rob Wilson is part of the defence. Do the math....

Plus 91% SAVE is a good one on the stats side.

TBH i havnt seen us this year, owing to work commitments, so can't comment on his form this season, but defence has not really been the main problem this year. Apparently he had a couple of stinkers earlier in the year, so maybe has been working his notice. However, he seems a good guy, and whenever i saw him with panthers/bison looked quality so good luck to him.

Sorry to hear this, even though its been rumoured for a while, was looking forward to seeing him play again in Nottingham with Vipers, oh well. As someone else said you dont become a bad player overnight, but as we all know, when Curtis as an off night it makes all the difference. Wherever Curtis and his family end up i wish them well, on the couple of occassions i`ve spoke with him he seemed like a nice bloke. Who knows we might even see him here in Nottingham sometime soon Watching the Panthers of course, very happy with Evan now.

I'm not sure that Aubry can turn Newcastles season into a winning one but I believe he will improve their fortunes.
Better than Cruickshank IMHO.

go on Vipers website and the full story is on there if you havent already xx Isn't it just.... and doesn't it make interesting reading? - not so much for what it does say, as for what it doesn't... Exactly. 91% IS "solid". He's stopped 91% of the shots that got through to him... of the shots that the defence let through to get to him. So.... if he's been letting in a lot of goals, and he's still been stopping a high percentage of shots.... wouldn't that indicate that perhaps the problem is in the number of shots being faced? Wonder if anyone's been checking the +/- figures for the Vipers' blueliners? Perhaps that should have been the target for this change....? .... or maybe Rob Wilson doesn't want to fall on his own sword?

Last years statistically best netminder gets cut this year by the team sitting dead last after about 10 games.
I have to say I'm totally with Shaggy, it's highly convenient in my view that the UK doesn't seem to keep +/- stats as I think they may tell a story about the Vipers D.
From what I can tell Newcastle got it badly badly wrong on the recruiting front this year and it's biting them on the behind. CC is rightly or wrongly the fall guy. I'd still have him on a team though, I think his record and stats history tells a better story than the beginning of this year. It seems CC just wasn't a "Viper" player which after what was said about his run in with Blaiser last year doesn't surprise me either.

If CC had come back to Nottm this year I wouldn't have been disappointed.

Newcastle need skilled players, they have Morgan and Longstaff who can play a bit upfront, Weaver can skate well at the back.
CC stood on his head in games against Belfast, when your team can only score 1/2 goals a game, it puts alot of pressure on the nettie.
They need players who can score, nout was wrong with their goalie.

They need players who can score, nout was wrong with their goalie. I put my 'Stat Boy' head on, and the figures don't make pleasant reading for Newcastle. (Just looking at league games here - can't be bothered with CC stuff) Newcastle have - by a long chalk - the worst goals for AND the worst goals against stats in the league. Played 9, scored 20 (ratio of 2.22 per game) conceded 36 (ratio of 4 per game) By comparison, the best goals for is ourselves (narrowly pipping Belfast) with 37 goals from 10 games giving a ratio of 3.7.... and the best goals against is Cardiff with just 16 conceded in 7 games, for a ratio of 2.29 (we come in 5th in that one, at 29 goals conceded in 10 games - 2.9 per game) Just going from the stats, it can be surmised that Newcastle have problems right throughout their roster - with the scoring forwards (or not, as the case may be!) and with their defensive unit... which may just be the goalie or may - as other stats seem to indicate - be the entire defensive unit. Or - to put it in the vernacular - they're in deep doo-doo. Somehow I can't work up much sorrow on that score....
