Thats a bit harsh, you have got to have belief in our abilities or theres no point in coming, i agree early season is not always an indication of how things will end up but. i think any team could take it still but equally we could take it, its going to be an exciting year of hockey win or lose.

Sunny, behave yourself. You've been coming long enough to realise that early season form means NOTHING!! Especially if you're a Panther. If it's March and we're still in this position, i may start to believe we could do something... We've all had our heart broken by Panthers too many times in the past. But if you put the past to one side, and every season is basically a clean sheet in UK hockey, then you would have to say that right now the Panthers look the team to beat. I'm basing this on the results so far. And remember, Belfast are 20% of the way thru their season already (Panthers are 15%).

Only team I haven't seen yet is Nottingham, and I'm yet to see a team which have impressed me. I've got to say despite the number of what looked like good signings in the summer, the standard is pretty poor in comparison to last season. Chris Is that a joke? Us aside Ive seen every team bar Newcastle and Cov this season. I think overall the standard is much better. theres no gaping gap between top and bottom level players and there are no whipping boys. Level playing field pretty much. Best sort of hockey anda great foundation for lots of challenging teams rather than the normal big ones Totally agree that there's an even playing field, but teams like Coventry have a good roster but they've looked pretty poor to me. Belfast have got some big names but in the game I saw they looked disinterested. Chris

fair dos.... but i wouldnt call any of the matches I have seen 'boring'. There may have been individuals who were better last year but i prefer the hockey im seeing (a lot due to ZT) this season over last.

As a famous coach in UK ICe hockey once said, I'd rather have the points than the games in hand.
You have to win your 3 games in hand remember, they aren't a given. Anything could happen.

And even when you do it'll take time for it to feel like home. Something Wenger and Henry have recently said. If you were to win the league this season it would be an astonishing achievement.

Absolutely true. However, seeing as we're only 1 point behind Belfast and would only need 2 points out of a possible 6 to be above them again on points (whilst equal on games played) - I think that we can be reasonably confident that we can overtake the Giants again....

Nothing but nothing is a given in sport, absolutely anything can happen.
I'll only believe no-one can stop us if David Clarke is lifting the Monteith Bowl over his head at the end of the season, and not before. Too many heartbreaks & disappointments in the past have taught me that.

How many times have we been in this position at this point only to throw it away though? As a famous coach in UK ICe hockey once said, I'd rather have the points than the games in hand. You have to win your 3 games in hand remember, they aren't a given. Anything could happen. Yes, he did say that but that was another situation. I'd much rather have three games in hand with a one point defecit than vice versa.

I can understand why peope are extremely cautious which is why I said the Panthers are most likely to stop the Panthers.
I'm as confident as folk are cautious and hopefully a few others will be starting to feel it by Halloween/Guy Fawkes. ;D

This Saturday's game against the Caps will give some pointers to the rest of the season - will it be a home banker or a CC hangover? What's Curtis Cruickshank got to do with anything?

Forgive me for stating the obvious - but it looks like we have at least one candidate. It does seem to me that Edinburgh were possibly the worst team we could have looked to play given their mostly European style, and our difficulties with it last weekend, but in truth we were pretty poor last night weren't we? Hope this is just a blip and not a slump in form, had to happen sometime. Fate was tempted and bit us hard in the posterior I would say, well too previous this thread for my liking.
