Thats insane, When I went to Djurgarden (globe arena) that was more sedate, it took the Timra fans to get things going ;D
In Jonkoping, it was standing i think, far more intense when everyone is close together.

Er look at who makes up the crowds over there, prodominatly young men, it makes it far easier to stand and chant and so on when crowds are like that, i know so from away matches with leeds united. The family stand and other stands tend to be filled with families (as the name suggests) thus they are quieter than the don revie stand which is packed with men who try to stand most of the match. One thing i do thing however we could do here at the nic is stand and cheer and egg on our guys when we do break aways or apply alot of pressure on the nett, as thats what they tend to do in the NHL when ive been to games there, and ide say that is feesable here at the NIC with the mixture of spectators we currently have. However if they was to muster all men (and loud women if wanted) into say 4 blocks behind the goal, and the blue coats turned a blind eye to us jumping and cheering, then i guess we could get that atmosphere going here

That is awesome!!!!!!
Again it`s our large,"older" section of the fanbase that is stopping this sort of atmosphere becoming a reality(block 15 for example)
I havn`t been to Coventry myself, but I`m led to believe that the atmosphere is supposed to be pretty good there. Are their home fans younger than ours?

That's more to do with the shoe-box type proportions of the rink than anything else. 1500 people shouting at Cov is always going to sound a lot louder than 1500 in the NIC

plus chants like pround to be a panther are pretty rubbish as you you can barely hear it, even if everyone did it it would always be quiet

Oh, not again! What would you suggest? A Logan's Run style cull of anyone that has been watching for more than 10 years? How about electrifying the seats as soon as we cross the blue line so that every stands up & makes noise?

How about electrifying the seats as soon as we cross the blue line so that every stands up & makes noise? im game for that As for pointing straight at the oldies that isnt the way to go. hell without them this club would be long dead. But as for the sitting down so much, that im sure can be rectified by having "student style blocks" just a thought anyways.

If everyone sang it it would sound awsome! I remember the bench clearance match when everyone sang "if you all hate the steelers clap your hands" to the same tune, and it was deafening!!!! Its all about the mix of people. I agree with what people say, the mix in nottingham is to varied for that much noise to be made. Look at block 11, that is where people who want to make noise now sit, and it works, and block 15 is where people who want to be quiet sit... its life unfortunatly, but in a pipe dream, i would love to see the nic like that video above.

mate with blocks like 15 and 16 youll never get any atmosphere... I still cant beleive we were told to stop cheering. If we dont electrify the seats then the nes who dont want to cheer and dance shouldnt moan and complain when others actually want to make some noise.
I like the idea of singing to the national anthem remember when we did it at the WNIR, no music. Just us.

I must admit the novelty of the "Proud to be a Panther" is wearing off for me personally but if people still enjoy it then make sure its loud n proud! EDIT - Hows about chants of "SIMO, SIMO" for Simoes, like we started at Bracknall??

As a member of the 'older' fan base (though not sitting in block 15), I will count to 10 and calm down before I say what I really think about that comment Sit next to me any time and I'll prove they we 'oldies' can make just as much noise as the younger ones

im sure there are those to the exception, but the general prospectus is just that of the must sit down, clap every now and then and hardly make a sound and it tends to be the older generations i see that are like that.

Reminds me of most DEL venues. Cracking atmosphere with the flag waving and all that. As has been said though it is in large part down to the type of crowd and the older smaller rinks. There are few arena type venues in the DEL apart from the odd one, my teams new purpose built one in Rath to name one. I haven't got over there yet this year but my mates on the DEG forum tell me the atmosphere has suffered a little. Brehmstrasse was known for it's ferocious atmosphere, it was outstanding!
For any who have never seen a game in europe, get yersens over, anywhere will do, you won't forget the expierience I can tell ya! I would rate it better than most NHL venues for atmosphere. The fans at DEG give all the players a nickname every year, then as each player is introduced on to the ice before each game you get 10-14,000 people shout their nickname in unison; it sends tingles down your spine, awsome.

NeoLad did you ever go to LPS?
Anyone who set foot in LPS, especially for a Steelers game, can't knock "the oldies" for being too quiet, that place was loud it felt like it was about to take off.
The sad fact is that the acoustics of the NIC for chanting are somewhere between poor and abysmal. The roof is just too high.

Exactly, these young uns could not keep up with that pace.
Mind you as an OLDIE , I have cramed into my hockey years many exertions that I now need to have a seat and watch the game.(Family sport?) Or shall I retire and put my shirt up?

I`ve been huffed and tutted at for cheering and "getting passionate". I`ve encountered rudeness and snobbery from some older fans aswell.BUT,I`ve also met some really sound, friendly and knowledgeable older fans too. I just think that on the whole the older(55 +) fans tend to prefer to be more reserved and don`t seem to go in for the all singing and dancing celebrations, etc.

Tut, I mean Tat2Mat, Thats life kid...er Sir. Perhaps when I am pushing up the daiseys mind and your 55+ finding it hard to sit with that bad back but still wanting to watch the sport. Some wiper snaper will be 'moaning' about the over 55's then......lol....xx
Perhaps a good idea is to save a block for the old biddies who prefer to be sedate and then everyone will be happy. As long as it ain't behind the net.lol.
I'm not always quiet and not 100% stuck to the seat but like to chat with my fellow buds with a good view all round. I must try block 15 for a change and see what is over there some time.

If you go back and read my posts, you`ll see that I`m not moaning about people wanting to sit and quietly enjoy the game.I`m making an observation about a large section of the fanbase that IMO prefer to be more reserved. And being as this is a thread about a very lively Swedish Arena and how the thread author wishes the NIC was the same,I`m entering my observations into the debate. No need to be so patronising and defensive Spik. And for what it`s worth I`m 35 so I`m hardly a "wiper snaper".
