Is hunt playing on the 30th? Barring unforseen circumstances, I believe that Simon Hunt will be playing in all Lions home games this season.

Lions went up to Blackburn today, to play the Blackburn Eagles... our lads did us proud again, won 7-0. Next home game is Sunday 30th September, hosting Deeside Dragons - face-off 7:15pm. No Panthers game home or away... hopefully see many of you there? Can we swap squads? I wouldn't get too carried away. All the sides the Lions have faced so far are expected to be in the bottom half of Div 2. The next game against Deeside will be the first real test the Lions squad have had so far this season. Fingers crossed I'll get to this one as I've not seen the Lions yet.

Every game is a test just some more difficult than others I guess. I don't suppose Fylde was a breeze given the size of their rink and they might shock a few of the big guns in that league. I saw that Deeside and Solihull are the hot tips for a return to North 1 this season but must admit that was from the Deeside local rag! Getting carried away is far from the team's mind I would have thought but a few followers might think that way as do a number of Panthers fans about their team, but probably not at the moment? This game will be a real test so cannot disagree with that one Pucky.

It has just dawned on me that Deeside might not have actually been in North 1 before but this season they have apparently pulled together possibly their strongest squad yet in a bid to move up so this might indeed be a tricky one to predict. Lions will need to be at their very best for this encounter and Gospel might certainly have a busy night.

Just a reminder to everyone... there's no Panthers game home or away this Sunday, but the Lions are at home - another chance for Panthers fans to see both past and future Panthers players (and in his debut Lions game, Simon Hunt certainly proved he's still 'got it'!). And possibly Josh Ward and/or Marc Levers as well...
The opposition are Deeside Dragons, face-off is scheduled for 7:15pm (may be a slight delay if a junior game beforehand overruns). Tickets are £5 for adults, £4 for students with NUS card and £3 for kids.

I can't see Panthers risking Marc Levers on Sunday the way things are at the moment but I suppose you just never know? Good to see more sponsorship for the boys it might relieve some of the financial burden on the team and that is very welcome during these difficult times.

A tough old game coming up this Sunday as The Lions take on a Deeside Dragons team desperate to get the win following their narrow defeat at the NIC a few weeks ago. To be in contention at the end of the season Deeside, having lost 3 games, need the win to get back on track and a win over the Lions would really kick start their season. I am led to believe that the Lions bench might be a little on the thin side as the 18s have a game also therefore a number of players will be dressing for their game. Deeside, being a favourite for promotion, are a strong team and on their home ice might take some holding so the best of luck to the coaching staff and the team, whatever the outcome.

Looking around at the league there appears to be a couple of teams asserting themselves and could be a real danger to all of the present front runners. Kingston got a creditable draw at Solihull 4 - 4 and Sheffield Senators, having already beaten Deeside away, hammered Fylde 12 - 2 also away,so these two teams have laid down strong markers in the league, and teams better watch out Not many easy games as at least five teams are looking to enter the frame for the end of the season honours. Mark Hartley is backstopping for Sheffield and proving a hard nut to crack. Should be an interesting game when Sheffield take to the ice in Nottingham this weekend.

Big, Big win for Sheffield Senators tonight as they took out the Solihull Barons 4-1. The Sen's have now beaten two of the top teams having already beaten Deeside Dragons as well and Nottingham are now firmly in their sights so the Lions had better be really on top of their game on Sunday. It gets tougher at the top for sure.

Won a couple of tickets the other week at the IIHF Girls Hockey Weekend for tonight's Lions game so will be popping down to watch the game. Hoping for a good 'un.
To add: Great hockey music so far. Panthers could learn a thing or two from the Lions about music choices.

The second Lions goal was a cracker. Really feisty game, lots of contact. As my darling wife just said "pound for pound much better value than Panthers".
