Monday 5pm is said to be the date he will post his next article.. I'm actual interested in what he has to say on certain things, as there's always two sides to a story and so far it's been mostly anti Phillips stuff posted on forums..

Hmmm... well-reasoned article there, but I have to disagree with Greg on the whole signing-the-roster-too-early thing for one main reason:-
Yeah... that might apply if we were the only opposition they had to face... but let's face it - we're not, and we're often regarded as not being the most potent threat anyway. Take Coventry for example... if Paul Thompson builds his team to counter Corey Neilson's roster choices, then he's a moron. He's got 7 other teams to think about as well... including Belfast, Cardiff and Sheffield - all three of which he will no doubt regard as being at least as much of a threat as we are, if not more.
Plus... as the Panthers have proven time and time again... you can have the best roster on paper and still get nowhere. What's most important - more important than the individual players - is the team. Which we finally seemed to get right in the latter stages of last season. So... with a strong core from that team and exactly the same leadership group... the chances of building a team like that are (I would hope!) fairly good. And if signing up virtually the entire roster by this time adds even one or two percentage points to the chances of building that kind of team... I'll take it.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, let's judge Corey at the seasons end (if he survives that long!) before complaining at his signings, timings or judgement!!

I can feel it in my bones, this is our year - is there a surer message to be had anywhere!?

The way I read it is that the Thompson reference is just an example and he's trying to write about us setting a benchmark that others have too much time to surpass. I could be wrong though. I'm not sure about well-reasoned, it just looks like another rant for rantings sake to me. It was fairly amusing for a while but now there's not much happening I'm not sure why he bothers or why Jono publishes (?) it.

I can't speak for Greg but I publish it because I enjoy it and looking at the Blog stats and awful lot of other people do too.

I don't always agree with Greg (in fact, sometimes I violently disagree with him)... but apart from the odd occasion where it truly is little more than a foaming-at-the-mouth rant (and let's be honest, how many of us haven't done that at one time or another?) he usually puts forward a coherent and well-reasoned argument. Like this last one - I disagree with his conclusions, but I respect the way he's reached them. Which is why I read the column.
