I sort of remember Allison at Panthers, but mainly remember him at the Bees, and getting annaihalated (sp) by Ferone. And then despite needing medical attention on a large number of cuts on his face, came back and played quite well. Always liked it when he was on the ice.

Comes across in that exactly how he comes across in person; an intelligent, genuine and positive person. His ability to see the positive possibilities being 'benched' presented him with says it all for me. I still think that had he played more games we'd have more to celebrate from last season. Hope he finds a place to play at a decent level next season, although whenever his playing days come to an end it's clear he'll move on and excel in something else. Best of luck Nick.

What a top bloke, nice interview shame he won't be back with us (don't know that for definate). I once told him about Mike Rees and said we had likened him to Mike. Good Luck Nick where ever you end up, a true professional and one we shall miss.

And yet more drivel from the Stir! That article quite clearly states that a Stir spokesman claims that "tens of Steelers fans... read the Star". Now whilst it may be true that there actually are Steelers fans numbering in double figures, the claim that they can actually read is surely unbelievable!

good read jono but I'm 100% sure that the money people paid for their season tickets at squeelers is safe. All of their season tickets were paid to sheffield steelers limited which is a completely different company to yorkshire sports. Sheffield Steelers limited owns yorkshire sports and that makes this whole scenario completely irrelevant, if yorkshire sports owned sheffield steelers limited then there would be a good reason to be concerned. I'm trying to think of a good comparison to use for the sheffield scenario, the only one I can think of is like people saying the steelers have gone bust is like saying nottingham council have gone bust because the broadmarsh shopping centre has gone bust, anyway as much as I dislike sheffield we need them just as much as they need us

I think the steelers Office reply to doom in youre article is spot on , but not in the way you are thinking jono .
the steelers office say they would like people to commit to early season tickets so that the squad can be brought in and signed . Its the same scenario at all the clubs , early investment will give a clear view of what can be afforded in the next years Budget for players . as been stated they are a completely different company to yorkshire sport , not that I agree with these companies set up on the side to take the downfall if they overspend or as in last year not get the attendance figures to give them the finacial clout to pay off these depts of Yorkshire sports .
I am afraid the steelers will go bust if next season has even less attendance figures playing out of the Arena . so it seems the season Ticket money is safe for this year .
so better get the Mrs to buy a panthers season ticket next year Jono ...lol
what I will point out is both the Yorkshire sports ltd and sheffield steelers ltd are both registered at 1st floor Tudor house 16 Cathedral Rd , Cardiff , CF119LJ .

Nice article Jono ... spot on.
Our fans have become everything we hated in the Steelers and it doesn't help that GM and CN seem to want to enhance this reputation by making stupid comments at every turn possible.

I think GM remains remarkably professional in the face of a lot of provocation tbh. You can't generalise like that.

Really? What kind of provocation?
I just think some of the stuff on the website ranges from the cringeworthy to damn right disrespectful to other teams. He does a good job as Sheffield have shown that a big arena and cash doesn't bring in the punters alone but there is no reason to have such an attititude.

Cringeworthy yes but disrespectful? The website articles are all archived, find me something that's disrespectful. I am willing to criticise GM as much as the next man but credit where it's due I think.
As for provocation, if you take a look through the articles on a certain other teams website you'll find many such an example of direct provocation - but then that club is built on it so to be expected I suppose.
Personally I couldn't care less if we're the most liked, most hated etc etc. None of it has any bearing on how much I support my team or enjoy the hockey I watch. Everyone always claims to 'hate' the best supported teams. In football they just happen to be one of the most successful as well in Man Utd, in hockey it's us, over the pond it's probably the Leafs. It goes with the territory.
