www.coventryblaze.co.uk/news/display.jsp?catId=42&newsId=1342A quick overview -As already announced zero tolerance introduced for hooking, holding, interference, tripping, slashing and cross checking. -Three fights and you're out. A player is allowed three fights during the course of a match, each fight will incure a five minute major penalty. A third fight will incure a five minute penalty and a game misconduct penalty. -Touch icing replaces automatic icing. A team cannot change lines immediatley after icing the puck until play resumes. -If a player shoots the puck out of the playing area in his defencive zone, a team won't be allowed to make a line change until after play resumes. -Best of three penalty shots will determine results tied after 4-on-4 overtime.

Wow awesome! Im a major fan of touch icing, the fighting rules are spot on and I like the timewasting punishments.
Also a huge welcome back to penalty shots!

So, it's the little NHL then? Excellent The rule about not-changing-after-icing is the best implementation for me. Excellent news.

Also a huge welcome back to penalty shots! Not so keen on the penalty shots myself. They're pretty exciting things to watch but whatever happened to a good old fashioned draw? I agree with Newham about the changes to the icing rules. I must admit to being something of a cynic when zero tolerance was announced. I hope our referees can see it through.

oh yea!
Touch icing is great.... really adds an extra element IMO. I dont buy into the idea that it will cause loads of injuries.
Pantheruk... touch icing means basically if you were to ice the puck... as it stands now... the whictle is blown and play is stopped as soon as the puck crosses the goal line.
In touch icing it means the whistle is blown as soon as the opposition touch the puck. That means (in theory) you could dump it and chase the puck down.... if you get there first... its not icing and play carries on as normal
I hope that makes sense! cos i think i might have confused myself!

Love the new rules!
As a fan of the odd dust-up(one a game would be fine ;D,more against Steelers!) I think that rule is spot on.
And like the penalty shot rule aswell, I don`t like draws.

Draws are for Quitters!
For some reason just reading the new rules has got me really excited about the new season, Touch icing makes the game a million times more intense

so basically the extra time and penalties are there to decide if one team will get 2

Penalties will go sudden death surely until someone misses. The other team will then get the extra point.

nah i think the refs will cope with this well
its alot easier this way, eg if there a penalty they called it where as before it was if there was a penalty they then had to deside if they had already called too many penalties to keep the game flowing

With the exception of the shoot out, the rules look top draw, if you excuse the pun. 3 fights and out, with 5min pens is a good rule. Touch icing for me should be put on trial first. If a shed load of injuries occur, then scrap it. Otherwise keep it. Keeps the play alive. Plus keeping it really simple, the rules will allow both quick 'european' style and 'canadian' style teams to play with neither being peonolised. a fair compromise.

Well u would like the 3 fights and out rule wouldn't u rangers! U have enough big fighters in your team to pick off our tough guys and get them ejected without loosing your own! The new rules are wicked, I love the idea of touch icing and the penalty's will add interest to a game even if it was a boring draw at the end of OT

Penalties will go sudden death surely until someone misses. The other team will then get the extra point. Rob thanks rob,at first i thought that but read it again and it does not make clear if the penalty shots will continue until a miss occurs or we have a natural winner. It only states that"there will be a best of 3 penalty shoot out" Not a big issue,it might just be badly worded,im just trying to clarify this new change

I like the look of these changes, although (and this may surprise some of you) I would prefer two fights and you're out. 5 mins for the first, 5+G for the second.
