[/ Gazza me learned friend, forget abiout Shymr being like Cloth Ear. Mike Ellis in his comments regarding Shymer is that forget about PIMS and Stats, he was brought in because of his 'team ethic' and his strength and duarbility as a good fast skater who will give 110% for the duration of the game. Cloth Ear has been brought in to go dancing everynight, on the premis that he is protecting Tessier and Maltby. There is a difference beween an out and out enforcer/goon as Cloth Ear is, and a guy like Shymer who is not here to be a out and out Enforcer/Goon, but to play a team role put points on the board, and not sit on his backside in the penalty box for more minutes than hes on the ice. Regards HL Yes and Clouthier has been told by matsos that he wants him in a more playing role this year! Sounds exactly the same to me! Also as i said Clouthier has played his craft at a much Higher level than shmyr for a lot longer. Now thats not to say i dont think that Ryan wont be a hit in a panthers jersey, far from it. But i dont buy into this theory that seems to be going round that Clouthier is gonna be an instant Goon just because thats what he was in the AHL. In junior and in the 3rd tier of North American hockey Clouthier has done his bit. in the AHL Clouthier would have had one role, go out and hit anything that moves and drop the gloves when people take liberties, and he did it because thats the only way he would break into the show. But lets not use his pigeon holing in the Second tier of North American hockey as any indication as to how good a player he is. As his Junior stats show he has potential to be a very good player

As his Junior stats show he has potential to be a very good player Sorry I don't buy into his Junior stats. He had one really good year (his last) and that's when he would have been playing with and against some kids 2 years younger (Cory stillman) and no doubt his strength and size would have come into play. As for his ECHL numbers 0.34 pts a game with his last stint being 2pts in 11 games isn't that impressive. There's no doubt that he plays the enforcer role very well but the rest can only be wait and see. As for Ryan 50 odd games at AHL level means he's up to a certain standard enforcer wise and I expect him to chip in with 20 something points, which should fit nicely onto our 2nd or 3rd line. I would expect Brett to get a few more points because most think that he will play 1st line, but it all comes down to price paid (as I said many pages ago) and I would hope (and expect) that Ryan is a little cheaper and if so then I think out of the two that we have the right man. But of course only time will tell. That's why the off-season is so much fun. Cheers
