One political point about the crossover games if I may is this. Why does it always seem that British players are awarded MoM for both teams.(I wasn't at the Fife game so I don't know who got what)But was their #4 really their best player on the night.BTW clarke deserved ours IMO Not sure where you get the "always" from, Andy...... in all of our home games against BNL sides so far this season, this was the first to have both MoM awards going to British players..... Hull's import goalie, Guildford's import D-Man, and of course Fife's import Karry Biette are the other recipients so far. For us, it has been Curtis, Clarkie and Konstantin..... so actually the awards have been import-heavy overall. As for Edinburgh's #4.... he may not have been their best player in terms of skill last night - but he sure as hell showed a huge amount of effort, commitment and drive - absolutely top class, and fully deserved his award IMHO.

We quite enjoyed the game last night, nothing spectacular. The House was given a chance and he kept out quite a few shots. I though Edinburgh DID try hard but with having 5 men down and as previously said, a few youngsters taking their place, the scoreline was a forgone conclusion.
PS How old was their 2nd goalie? From where we were he looked as though it was past his bedtime.

Thought I heard someome say he was 14 He had a lucky escape! JC seems to have rediscovered his slapshot and is well known for unleashing howitzers at backup goalies! ;D The rest of the team may have eased off in the final few minutes but JC looked hungry and would have drilled a hole through the wee laddie if he'd got the puck in the right place! ;D A good workman like performamce by our team. They did enough to win without getting out of 2nd gear, well the youngsters all played in top gear and aquitted themselves well. Adey took the chance to roll and mix the lines and it all seemed to work well enough. Edinburgh were not a strong team with a low budget and a short bench, but credit to them, they went at the game from the word go and never let up until the last few minutes. Think you have a good point about the team spirit Shaggy - it does seem very good these days. I'm sure you're right in saying that Steve McKenna is a large part of the reason too. Damn good player too - nothing flashy but so solid. Has so much time and vision and a great eye for a pass. Lovely pass for DCs goal. Good on D too, under pressure from 2 Caps behind his own goal line but no sign of panic - holds them off, skates and turns then banks a pass behind his own goal - pure class!

The game wasnt the most exciting this season, but i think Edinburgh did well and put 100% effort in. Anyone else see Craighead throwing full on checks at the younger players? One of them skated off and looked in pain after, but i think we all would be. I agree about the team spirit, it does seem a lot better since McKenna joined, and he always seems layed back and is always talking with the players and encouraging them.

just gives them the expierence of what a pro game is like. i sure they probably were not full checks (well not as hard as he can check anyway) plus i sure they wouldn't of minded much playing against one fo the better teams in this country.

A good, solid performance.....did what needed to be done etc. etc.. Great to see Woolhouse given an opportunity. As a Panthers supporter and general hockey fan.....result the most important thing and a decent enough score-line BUT if I was one of those "bringing someone to a game for the first time", then that match would probably have put them off !
I applaud the club taking every opportunity to get us fanatics to bring along a friend etc., but I think we need to pick 'selective' games to do it !

D'oh! Of course I meant #20. I probably shouldn't post before I've had some coffee in the morning! As good as he was, seeing #20 in net made me appreciate even more #34. The way Cruicky handles rebounds and his judgement on leaving the crease are phenomenal! In those areas Geoff has a some work to do - but hey, the lad needs to play much more for this to come. Can't help thinking that he might be better trying to get a #1 spot in a lower league to get some game awareness. What do other people think? noooooooo!!!!!! we don't want geoff to leave!! I will miss him!! He's a good back-up as well, i think one of the best in the leage!! ;D Don't put ideas into peoples heads!! ;D

Sooner or later though..... he's going to want to be a #1 netminder - and who can blame him? There will come a point when he's going to either want to step up to be Panthers #1, or move elsewhere to get plenty of ice time. I'm sure he's gaining great experience training with the Panthers and getting the odd game - but in time he'll naturally want more.

You're probably right Shaggy.I am more than likely reading the bits I want to read rather than all of the facts. It would be interesting to see all of the crossover games MoM's and draw some comparisons.Who picks them anyway,is it the game sponsor?

the most like thing that woolhouse will do is go down a league, if he wants more ice time and then come back when he has expierence and is a much improved netminder, as at the moment you can't see a him being a number one netminder by the time he is 20 in the elite league. and panther will bring in another young netminder in that time.
last night he looked very very shaky but i think that might of been because he hasn't played many games in the last year and a half.
