I live in Aldgate. It appears that it wasn't a power surge. I fear that may have been a cover story to keep everyone calm.
My colleague was on the bus two behind the bus that exploded. He said the top came off like a tin of sardines. He is very shook up indeed.
I fear we could be experiencing something extremely serious.

IF it was a terrorist attack, I think we've been lucky there hasn't been one until now. There's no way of preventing it, unless people are prepared to have their luggage etc searched either by hand or some kind of metal detector before they board the Underground

Well this is going to completly overshadow the succesful Olympic Bid. I'm guessing that people would have got hurt in these explosions

What I meant was, I think there is little doubt that it WAS a terrorist attach, bearing in mind there have now been numerous reports of bomb blasts and eye witness reports of a bus being blown up. You appeared to question whether it was a terrorist attack

You appeared to question whether it was a terrorist attack Well I don't know-the Underground explosion has been called a " power surge" but I've never known of an affliction affecting buses that make them blow up! Are all the incident slinked? Probably Well this is going to completly overshadow the succesful Olympic Bid. I'm guessing that people would have got hurt in these explosions Erh, quite rightly the Olympics success will be over shadowed. And the events of today aren't great PR for said success are they CNN's take on the incident

"Are all the incident slinked? Probably"
It looks depressingly so. My first reaction is that this seems pretty textbook al qaedea (sic)
1. Rush Hour 2. Multiple explosions 3. Financial district 4. Major transport infrastructure
The power surge theory has already been shown up as a cover up I fear

Surely this is too big to just be a power surge

Could be G8 related. I've got two mates in the city I'm yet to hear from One of my colleagues/mate from work, who is currently at the G8, found one protester with a home made bomb The Metropolitan Chief has said " It's probably a major terrorist attack." 6 explosions throughout the Capital now, and evidence of explosives at at least one site

I probably didn't make it clear, sorry. I meant that the incidents today may cause concern to the International Olympic Commity to hold the games in London now that they know the possible threat of attacks in the area

It makes me wonder, had London not won the Olympic bid, would this attack have taken place today? I have my reservations

What terrible news a day after such a high in the capital. Its shocking to hear that this has happened I can only hope fatalities are minimal and they catch the evils responsible. Could make my journey thruogh London to Gatwick a bit difficult on Saturday too but that pales into insignificance against what we see today.

I'm sorry, but i really thing its not the time to be making jokes about France and Olympics. Many People have died. Poignant post Emokid, and the thing that worries me is I don't think it was a joke It may well have been a tongue in cheek post Shin (though no smiley) - either way, I didn't think it appropriate in the circumstances so have deleted the post.
