Decent signing for Hull, he played for us for half a season 2 seasons ago in the BNL, but suffered a dislocated shoulder mid way through his stint and wasnt the same after that, up until then he was a fast stick handling forward who worked well and scored almost a goal a game. He cold do well wiht the new clamp down on nutral ice interference. expect friend and former team mate Andre Nikoleav to follow, he spent 2 years with us in the BNL and became a fans fav for hsi work rate and quick wrist shot.

They don't seem to be announcing any of their own at the moment so everyone else is 'fair game', I would assume !

Why are Sheffield announcing other team's signings? Well, you know how they keep going on about being the 'family'? They've upgraded it to being more of a neighbourhood thing.... now they're the curtain-twitching old biddy that keeps noseying into everyone else's business and then spreads it around over the garden fence! ;D ;D Either that or they know they've got naff-all interesting to say about themselves... you choose!

Like the look of the new stingrays signing, but dont like the look of their euro lignup
Good for Gav Farrand. Trained with him last summer and he nearly went then, not surprised hes gone now apart from the fact hes going to have to change jobs

BISON NEWS
Thu, 27 Jul '06
Bison Sign Nick Boucher The Basingstoke Bison are ecstatic to confirm the addition of Goaltender Nick Boucher for the 2006/2007 Elite League season.
The 5ft 11in 175lb native of Cobble Hill, BC is a former 9th Round, 280th overall selection of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2000 NHL entry draft.
Boucher, 25, who brings with him a .923 save percentage from AHL games with WBS Penguins, the primary affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Boucher played in the UHL in 2005/6 splitting the season between Elmira Jackals & Muskegon Fury. In 44 games, Boucher achieved 3 shutouts. Meanwhile, Boucher has also spent time with the NCAA D1's Dartmouth College and with Weeling Nailers & Pee Dee Pride of the ECHL.
Boucher, who is currently running hockey schools in the USA, had this to say about signing with the Basingstoke Bison, "I am ecstatic to have my first chance overseas with the Bison, I have heard good things about the town and the club. This is my first season outside North America and I hope it to be my best yet. The Bison seemed to struggle last year but I hope I can provide the solid goaltending for what is looking like a great team being put together by Doug Sheppard in order for the Bison to finish higher up the pack."
Head Coach Doug Sheppard was pleased to have a key player in his team signed up for the season and said, "I am thrilled to be bringing in a goalie of Nick's caliber. Nick is going to be a difference maker for us this year. Reports on Nick suggest he is a fierce competitor and will do whatever it takes to win, and that is the exact attitude we need to drive the club forward."

Woody Firms Up Bison Brit Pack 27/07/2006 The Basingstoke Bison are over the moon to announce the capture of British forward Greg Wood for the 2006/2007 Elite League season.
Wood, who split last season between the Elite League's Sheffield Steelers and the English Premier League's Sheffield Scimitars, where he helped the Scimitars to a EPL playoff finals appearance in their first season in the EPL. Wood amassed 30 points (14+16=30) and 36 penalty minutes in 44 games for the IceSheffield based side. Wood also spent time with the Basingstoke Bison during the 2004/5 season, where he received 2 points (2+0=2) and took 6 penalty minutes in an impressive 31 game stay with the club.
Wood, who joins fellow Sheffield native Gavin Farrand at the Bison said, "I am very pleased I have got a chance in Basingstoke to prove worth once again. I hope I can help Basingstoke to the higher placing in the league the team deserve as I'm a bigger and stronger player than during my last stay in Basingstoke."
Coach Doug Sheppard was very pleased to have Wood in a Bison shirt once again, "I am thrilled to have Greg Wood join the team for the new season. I was impressed with Wood when I had the opportunity to play with him 2 years ago. I have heard reports he has developed into a more complete player since that time. I am expecting him to surprise a lot of people at the Elite League level."

Bergin On the Stampede For Bison
The Basingstoke Bison are very proud to announce that Canadian forward Kevin Bergin has joined the Basingstoke Bison for 2006/2007.
Bergin, who iced last year for the ECHL's Florida Everblades, scored 62 points (29+33=62) and clocked up 70 penalty minutes in 65 games, whilst also appearing in 4 games for the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers, where he scored 2 points (0+2=2) and took 11 penalty minutes in 4 games. Bergin also led the Everblades in Powerplay Goals and in Shots on Goal, while he tied for the lead for Goals.
The 6ft 2in, 200lb left shot forward from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, who has also spent part of his career in Defense will be a perfect addition to the right-shot heavy Bison.
Bergin was excited about his first foray into Europe and said, "I am very excited about the coming season, and my first season outside North America. I'm delighted to re-form my partnership with Duncan Dalmao and I am looking forward to winning some hockey games in the Elite League."
Coach Doug Sheppard was equally pleased to have confirmed the signing of Bergin, and added, "I am very excited Kevin will become a bison this year. With a number of teams in the EIHL after his services, I'm thrilled he decided to join the Basingstoke Bison. Kevin is a tremendous all around player, with a great knack around the net. He's a big physical kid and will be an instant fan favorite."

Stewart set to become fan's favourite - (31-07-2006)
Cassidy Coventry Blaze have completed the shape of their main forward lines with the signing of Danny Stewart.
Feisty and fast, the 27-year-old Canadian is expected to line up alongside Adam Calder and Dan Carlson when the puck drops for the start of the season in a month’s time.
Stewart started his career with Miami University and has spent four years in the United Hockey League. He played for three seasons with the Fort Wayne Komets and last year scored nine goals, 13 assists and 120 penalty minutes with the Danbury Thrashers.
Head coach Paul Thompson said: “At 5ft 10ins he might not seem the biggest but he isn’t intimidated by anyone and plays a role far bigger than his size. He can shoot well, skate well and will bring a bubbly character to the side.
“I’m aware that this year I have quite a veteran side and I wanted to add some extra speed with my final signing. I need someone to keep up with Dan Carlson, and someone who will irritate the hell out of the opposition. With the new rules I didn’t want a slow enforcer, but I wanted someone who will get stuck in for the team. I think Danny will become a big fan’s favourite – an import Kurt Irvine.
“I’ve worked really hard on getting the right balance for the forwards together this year. It has taken me several months to get some players but I turned Danny around in three days. I’ve heard good things about him from everyone I’ve spoken to and his hard-working approach will fit into the team that I have built.
“It’s not that long until we get underway now and I’m really looking forward to getting the final signing announced – one which might surprise a few people!”
