But we also need to bear in mind that it's the *overall* two bottom ranked teams that get relegated. Not just the bottom team for each group. So it's possible for two teams from the same group to get relegated. "Relegation format The overall bottom ranked two teams of the Final Ranking taking into consideration all participating teams will be relegated to the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group A." Chris Ellis Clarified this on Twitter yesterday. This only applies if Denmark finish bottom. Apparently poorly worded on IIHF website. View AttachmentThanks. That is very poorly worded then

You know what I don’t like. When GB are struggling against better opposition. You know what I don’t like even more. When we play well against better opposition and we don’t get the deserved rub, not talking about skates though…. lol.Well done v Denmark. Keep strong and don’t upset those refs.

Near the end of the second period and we've just equalised to make it 3-3. It's the first game I've been able to catch. It's cracking, we don't look out of place at all. Fair play to em

Fair play to em The first "ask the experts" on the IIHF website was talking about this as a "almost must win" for GB to stay in contention. Looks like they're up for it today. I’m into an Austrian win tonight and keep their interests for qualification and then play Norway. We beat Norway too and ‘bobs your uncle’.

do or die today. if we beat Norway we stay in the top tier. Whistle gets the start, and it's currently 0-2 after 6 mins.

We don’t seem to be ‘on it’ today 0-3

We don’t seem to be ‘on it’ today 0-3 Perhaps bringing Bowns in at the start of the 2nd might calm things down. Understand the reasoning behind starting Whistle but it's not working.

Not much Whistle can do if our lads pass to the Norwegians out in front.

A 5-2 loss. Ollie getting a goal in the third. Back to division one I guess.

The reality is that this is probably GBs worst worlds in about 8/10 years. Solidified 9&10 years ago in 1B. Then the promotions started to happen. Really showed up for a few years in the top division, even when relegated they showed real spirit and battling qualities. A great year last year to get promoted for this one. No unrealistic expectations on my part. Will always be favourites to come down when in the top division. Just getting there and playing those teams is a fantastic achievement. Just probably lacked that little bit of something tgat gave you hope before. Just never really got one of those golden performances they've managed to find every time before. Or perhaps it came against Canada in game it would never impact the result. Can never put the team down at this level. When I say worst I mean that relatively. Just the first time it's lacked a bit of magic in a lomg time.

The experience they bought to the team was second to non, it may take a couple of years to get the replacements up to speed but disappointing all the same.

Scott Conway still being an arse and not wanting to play? I'm not sure anybody really knows the answer. I think there is a high chance he black listed himself when he didn't play in 1A. He probably wanted to play on the big stage but got told to shove it.

Only scoring 8 goals too - that's killed us It was always going to be tricky. We've very little in the way of genuine scoring threat at this level, certainly at even strength. Kirk, of course, then it tails off a fair bit quite quickly. That Mosey has 4 points from the D, which has scored 9 of the 22 points obtained, tells you as much as you need, I think. It was always going to be a huge ask, and some of the games were tantalisingly close, but in the end...

Will our world rankings go up or down now? We played so well, definitely should be ranked higher than 20th.
