I know the game thread has also been discussing his passing but I thought it might be good to start a separate thread where we remembered him as a player and a Panther. A thread where, maybe one day, his friends and family could come and see what he meant to the #PanthersFamily. A thread where we don't discuss the manner of his death, but the manner of his life. Our memories of his game and the player. Rest in Peace Adam. You will forever be remembered by this fan as a classy, skillful player, a player whose announcement gave the fans a real buzz as someone we could build a team around. A player who made those around him better by his presence. A player who in a couple of months made us wonder what could be achieved in the coming years if we could hold onto you #AJ47 Attachments:

I vividly remember the excitement when he signed for us, arguably the best signing in the league in terms of pedigree.
On the ice he lived up to that, he was an excellent player who gave everything, every shift.
Sleep well Adam, you won't be forgotten.

I for one would like to see his number retired in his honour.
I don't think anyone should ever wear a #47 Panthers shirt ever again. For me it will always be Adam's number and though that brings scant comfort this morning, I'm holding onto that little bit of comfort pretty hard

The season suddenly took on a whole new perspective when that final signing was announced. Truly a final signing worth waiting for Yes he was. You could tell he cared every shift. That he was proud to wear the jersey.

Sincere condolences from a Cardiff fan. Truly horrific for all those who were there and the family he leaves behind. I hope nothing like this ever happens again.
Rest in peace Adam.

Very proud when Panthers signed Adam and he showed his pedigree and class in every game. RIP Adam and our thoughts are with your friends and family.
Just have to say as well that the Sheffield players, organisation and webcast team were exemplary when the accident happened as well.

Admin, is it possible to transfer all the tributes to Adam from the game thread? Then lock the game thread as others have said?
Just seems more more apt to have them here and all in one place...

It's a bit difficult to move posts without messing up the ordering, I'd like to keep B&Gs post at the top. I will lock the game thread though, perhaps people can copy their thoughts across.
This thread will remain as an announcement for the duration of the season, so will be at the top of forums.

Sincere condolences to everyone impacted
And I've no doubt Panthers will retire the jersey
Maybe the EIHL will retire the number for all the teams tbh as everybody in British Ice Hockey will be equally devastated by this news. Not just Panthers
This will impact everyone who follows the game tbh both here and overseas. Especially at his former clubs and all his former teammates and opposition.
And not just ice hockey fans and players. Sports fans in general
It's so so sad and upsetting
Adam will never be forgotten by so many who know him, saw him play or simply have heard about this tragic incident and want to show their support to all concerned

With both today's and Tuesday's home games postponed there should be plenty of time as fans to get this organised. I think it's a great idea

Adam's signing was, as has been said, the highlight of the summer recruitment. Very much the jewel in the crown. Above that though, it sounds like he was a fine man from Panthers' tribute. www.panthers.co.uk/home/adam-johnson-1994-2023A desperately sad, almost inconceivable loss. My condolences to all who loved him.

I really dont care how long it takes. At this point I think it could be at least a few weeks for Panthers. I'm not sure if all our players will even stay. Who knows how they can deal with this. My only thought on the first game back is picking the right one on the right day. I've every confidence that when it happens Panthers will get the event right. They would probably be best avoiding a Friday/Saturday game though. Forget the attendendance. Pick a day where it's likely to be largely hockey fans, no night outers. 3,000? fans who know whats happened paying their respects would be for the best. Feels like a million miles away now though. For now they all need to focus on dealing with the tragedy.

His signing was a real stand out one. At the time pretty much considered the best accross the league. As ever with these CVs people often expect them to do all sorts of fancy stuff, but its not usually the case. Adam did what many actually do. All the basics so so well. Thats where his quality showed. Such a shame we only got to see him briefly. I'm not sure even know how i'm processing it. I just know I cant switch off from it. Condoselnces again to all associated.

I want to pay tribute to the fact everybody there tried their very best to help Adam in any way possible.
The players, officials, the first responders, paramedics. Everybody in the arena.
I also have read that trauma nurses watching as fans in the crowd came forward and tried to help.

I haven’t made it to any games yet this season, but seeing the news last night unfold, the silence and then this mornings confirmation, it makes me feel sick. I’m so sorry to all at the panthers organization and the web of associates, fans, friends and loved ones having seen a video of last night its gut wrenching and I hope all who attended the game speak and talk out… I had counseling last year and it truly saved me. Stay strong panthernation

The Nottingham Lions game away at Billingham Stars has been postponed following the tragic accident leading to the death of Adam Johnson. This was felt an appropriate response given the events of last evening in Sheffield with postponement offered to the Nottingham club by the EIHA and with the agreement of the Billingham club.

Difficult to come to terms with. You just don’t expect these things to happen at all let alone to the club you support and let alone to your star player, which is incidental I know. God knows how it must have effected his teammates and Petgrave too plus all of those who saw it and the aftermath.
A great player has been stolen from us in the most awful way.
Hockey is very much secondary at this point but it’s hard to imagine at this point how and when things carry on
RIP AJ

Big meeting scheduled at arena today given tgerecent tragic event, Neil Black to be in attendance.
I guess it's to talk about the clubs actions, and how it will handle things going forward for the remainder of the season.
Still can't get over yesterday's tragedy. 30+ years watching Panthers and ice hockey in general, you know such circumstance is always a possibility but never think it will actually happen. Shows you haw dangerous ice hockey can be.
Once again thank you and Rest In Peace Adam Johnson.

Hockey in Nottingham, and to be honest, the Elite League in general, will never be the same again. It won't be for me anyway. Rest In Peace Adam
