With the import numbers now at 15 it’s going to be interesting to see where all the Brits land this season.
Cardiff had 6 decent Brits last season, will they stick with those 6 and go with 14 imports?
Belfast are rumoured to have quite a few departures on the Brit front, J.Whistle and Conway rumoured to be leaving and Hook has practically left. Where will they land?
Nottingham still with Brit spots to fill, Myers and Ferrara still don’t have clubs, will they return to Nottingham or will we look to take a different route?
Glasgow now rumoured to have big money available and their Brit pack has diminished after the retirement of Peacock and Stenton joining Solway. Will they be tempting some Brit talent up north?
Interesting times ahead.

If we had signed Perlini i would have said we were back with the best, without him or at least an equivalent then sorry to say behind the 8 ball before an import is signed. If myers comes back then a lack of effort for what is now a hasbeen will show the attitude of the club for next season imho...

I agree with you, I feel we’ve got to be moving away from Myers now, age is catching up with him. I don’t think we should take another punt on Ferrara either, he suits playing on smaller ice pads mode regularly imo. If we were going for Perlini and we got massively outbid by his German team then fair enough. I think we’d do well if we could attract Hook or even nab one of the Brits from Cardiff

I don't think Perlini was ever in the mix to return to Nottingham, he had such a distaste for the club after the treatment last time I would be surprised if we ever see him again. I think Ollie is only back here because its close to home and he wants to be home.

If it works, he should be good for 20+ goals. Him and a Brit netminder would be ok to me. Myers we need to leave behind now. I suspect we won't though.

I think the only constant is Black and surely that isn't a big influence on players? That said if he was treated badly, I can 100% understand not wanting to chance it back at the same place, even if all the staff have changed.

Seems all quite bizarre to me I think Black is what its all about. Purse strings and looking after players all goes back to him. You can only do what the budget allows. Players with partners having to share accomadation. Not looking after your top Brits during covid(furlough etc). Bills, cars. Players having to replace their owm white goods etc. As much as GM the GM had a bad rep with sponsors and fans I think he was far better at getting more out of black considering their long standing relationship and fighting for player care.

Yep whilst ever Black is still there nothing much of great importance or attitude will change. Some people may think Pacha is in total charge, but he won’t be really when push comes to shove. At the end of the day the club will be run how Black wants it to be and Pacha is just there to take the heat off Black and one day become the scapegoat.

Correct and don’t forget Finance Freddie is now watching the pennies for daddy, Omar just the front of it. And Baggie is correct it was the treatment or lack of it that saw the Brits finally depart. Whatever anyone thinks of Lacho he’s the prime example and is now seeing how another club values it’s Brits.

Interesting times ahead. Belfast's pick up of Sean Norris full-time for next session looks like a smart investment in their Brit pack. Impressed and didn't look out of place in the games he played last season

There's been quite a lot of concern / rumblings of disquiet expressed recently regarding our lack of signings for 2023/24, so in an idle 30 minutes, I thought I'd look back at the timeline of pre-season signings for our disastrous 2022/23 season, and see how it compares to the current state of play:
13 May 22 - Coach Graham appointed 30 May 22 - Myers return announced 4 Jun 22 - Kelsall; Hopkins & Hazeldine confirmed 6 Jun 22 - Welsh's return announced; Ferrara signed 16 Jun 22 - Brassard return confirmed 22 Jun 22 - Sorenson signed 27 Jun 22 - Dubeau signed 4 Jul 22 - Puffer signed 11 Jul 22 - Moore signed 12 Jul 22 - Summers signed 3 Jul 22 - Brady signed 14 Jul 22 - Caruso signed 15 Jul 22 - Gagnon signed 19 Jul 22 - Johnston signed 20 Jul 22 - Hunt signed (contract cancelled 8 Aug 22) 29 Jul 22 - Berry; Sheldon & Bloor announced 4 Aug 22 - Lagrone signed 8 Aug 22 - Anderson; Hammond & Welychka signed
So, we have appointed our new Coach a lot earlier (18 Apr 22), and have 3 Brits confirmed (v 4 at the same time last season), but have lost 2 of our best British prospects to Coventry.
My expectations are that Coach Paredes will be dipping into the Ligue Magnus player pool for some of his early import signings, and then will have a distinct French Canadian feel to the squad by the time we get to Training Camp in early August.
From those currently out of contract in Ligue Magnus, personally I would love to see Boivin to return after his stellar year in Rouen, but that is just wishful thinking on my part. Alternatively, Tommy Giroux (Angers) or Kelsey Tessier (Rouen) could add experience and proven scoring ability.
Not expecting many announcements before the end of June, but you never know?

With panthers theres never any middle ground. I bet there's more interviews with Russell in Cardiff before this Paredes and he was announced weeks later.. let's be honest it's a utter shambles..

In his initial interview he did say that he wouldn’t even be over until June/ July, yet you are surprised?
As for signings, rush out and sign lots “panic buying”
Wait, and there’s moaning. Can’t win.
