That gives Giants 8 D? (Without Garside?) Is someone injured? I make that 20 "non homegrown" on the roster? I suspect at least 1 is injury cover for someone though.

Looking at the roster postings on EIHL, the Giants have an overall roster of 24, with 3 non-homegrown slots still available. Gendron has been in and out of the team with injury, then suspension, then injury again. Roach is non-existent. Not sure if he exists or not..They might be able to put together a decent D Line with Cullen. Up to now, the D corp has stank the place out

The latest bonkers thing for me is that apparently Lindskoug has been signed as injury reserve cover for Desrocher. Desrocher is a D-man, Lindskoug is a goalie? Eh? Owen hasn't played since 23 December, so is clearly injured, but not a 28 day injury (otherwise he'd be on IR, surely?), so is this is just a way to get another body in at least temporarily and "play the system"? I see the latest time someone has been retrospectively declared on IR is 46 days, from the start of which he is ineligible to ice for 28 days. So by the time he was declared on IR, he was already eligible to play again if fit for 18 days. That was Tetlow, and Hazeldine is apparently IR for him, according to the EIHL. Except Hazeldine was signed well after Tetlow's 28 days had expired? And to quote Panthers own PR "The Panthers have signed Nottingham-born defenceman Joe Hazeldine on a deal until the end of the season."
It's (predictably) a farce.

All change again in Belfast, David Goodwin returns after a brief spell in Spain to replace Quinn Preston who leaves the club for personal reasons.

Interesting signing. How many does that make? 24th import signing, including Cech, who probably doesn’t count.

It would appear that you can sign as many players as you like if you know the dodges. I'm genuinely not sure why there's a limit anyway if it's so easy to get around.

I'm sure the league are on top of it all...
🤭
Haven't they updated the notepad document? (https://www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/3302-2023-24-roster-updates)

So far, the excuses why a player doesn't count as a change (and thus doesn't burn one of the 20 slots) are (examples)
"exceptional family circumstances" - Heier from Manchester. "replacement of a player who walked out on their contract" - notably today when Vinnell is signed permanently as a replacement for Kielley, who left in November... So all you have to do if you want to gas someone at no "cost" is say they walked out?
As we also know, you can sign goalies as IR for skaters (Fife have now done it twice...) so presumably the other way round works too? And you can tell the EIHL that a player is an IR signing, but tell your fans he is signed for the rest of the season full stop. (Hazeldine...) And IR players can be "reallocated" depending on who on the team is injured.
Clear as mud.

That EIHL statement of roster changes a couple of weeks ago was mind boggling with the number of player changes around the league, particularly around IR players.

Good business for Steelers, he's still an elite player. Interesting to see how well MOV's scoring for Steelers this year, I noticed, having been written off by some. Much better now he's ditched those all black skates...
