The first period was some of dullest most boring hockey I've seen in ages but after that it was a lot better. Devils didn't really offer a great deal and whilst we were slow to get going once we did, we were by far the better team and fully deserved the win. Carruth in goal for Cardiff looked pretty shaky and didn't catch much. On a side note I know that there has been some technical issues with the sound this season but the intro tonight sounded abysmal, the music was distorted, muffled and at one point it sounded like two tracks were playing at the same time. I hope it gets sorted soon. I'm in block 13 so not sure if sounded better in other blocks. At times in block 16 its very difficult to hear the goals/assists/penalty announcements

It does make you wonder how a thread on a pretty comfortable 5-2 victory against most people's tip for the league only just ekes its way onto the second page because the sound was so bad. I guess if you eliminate the doom-mongers, there's not many left?

Brassard +4 last night, Brodie Dupont -4. Good efforts both.

I detest Cardiff with a great passion. Overpaying unctuous gobshites.

Crowds this year in Nottingham would suggest a lot have disappeared compared to in Sheffield where crowds are booming.

For the previous 2 games it was hard to compare as we play Stars and Blaze at very different times on different days this season compared to last. However, last season, we played the Devils Sunday 20th October so yesterday is an almost carbon copy. Attendance then was just over 4900 and yesterday was just under 4900. Nothing precipitous at this point. The cup attendance against Storm looked very poor (0 on gamesheet), but I blame an even more farcical than normal setup for the Challenge Cup. Edited: Removing EIHL style howlers

Edited: Removing EIHL style howlers Steelers are miles ahead crowd wise this season. Their crowds so far have been virtually all comfortably 6000 plus and even 7-8000 some games where as Panthers have struggled to even attract 5000. The cup games so far will give a good direct comparison, Steelers got 6200 against Manchester and Panthers were embarrassed to even state their crowd. Panthers average crowds have been on the way down the last two or three years.

It's a revenue maximisation game, not a "Who's got the biggest crowd" game. The trick is to sell the venue out with full price tickets. That's the tricky bit.

But the Steelers were even selling pre season games this year at FULL league game price therefore I’d say the likelihood of any number of freebies if any would be very low. One team it going forwards, the other is going backwards !

We have the new scoreboard but nothing else has changed. The Steelers entrance video is good (ours is dire), Dressing room and tunnel footage, skaters with flags vs All our yesterdays and Neil Diamond and we don't even have player intros now. Very very poor and this has gone on for so long now it makes you wonder if it was run by Darby and Joan Wallace and Docet is a big step forwards but the rest of it is straight from the 1960s end of the pier show

To be fair, Steelers' pre-game intro has always been better than Panthers.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, it is time...."

I guess if you eliminate the doom-mongers, there's not many left? I'm a season ticket holder and still love attending, the win yesterday was great but I can still think the music and intro are dire. Our intro gets me about as pumped up as going to work on a Monday morning when it's raining.

Panthers are absolutely abysmal at the whole 'entertainment' side of things. It's embarrassingly bad. Fair play to Sheffield, they are the standard bearers.

What beats me is that they don't even try to mix it up. It's not necessarily easy to get something to please everyone, but does the current intro/buildup do anything for anyone?
Like when Paws does his clap section at the start, people will join in to start with, but it goes on for an age and everyone gives up and it peters out. I think one improvement would be to potentially shorten the buildup. A fairly high tempo rock song you can clap along to, while playing a video, and then co-ordinate with block 19 to transition into a "let's go Panthers" as the track/video ends, then the players emerge.

It's very much a perception of not appearing broken so not requiring fixing and it resonates down from the very very top. The latter of which, in essence, makes actual change at day to day level very hard to inaugurate.

Noticed at the last few games the announcements are barely audible ,the pre game intro is same old same old ( inflatable bear) after being away for best part of two years. Very poor. Don’t they have enough pictures of ex players to fill the whole intro. Instead of repeating the the same three times On a positive note a half decent team performance just missing a bit of toughness

Every year it’s a moan but this year it’s gong show awful. 13 year old kids could do much better with a phone app. Hats off to Sheffield, they are light years ahead.

Not enough people are enjoying this victory against a team containing Mark Richardson no less. I'm slightly perturbed by this, there should be more rejoicing.
