If Aalborg win, the three teams will be tied on 6 points, it then goes to goal difference between the three of them. Sheffield will lose out then. Pirates just need to win now, goals don't matter in their game In regulation Yes, in regulation

On my calculation, with scores at 3-0, Steelers have a goal difference of zero and Gomel have +2. Aalborg have +1. If scores remain and Aalborg win in regulation, Steelers are eliminated. If Steelers make it 1-3, then both Steelers and Gomel have +1, but Gomel will have more goals scored, 8 vs 7. This us what I'd assume the next tie break was, but I can't find it anywhere. EDIT:found it www.iihf.com/en/events/2020/ccfinal/tournamentinfo/16020/tournament-infoIt's too complicated for me to work out. Depends if they’re playing “change the rules to suit” these days. Remember in Amiens when Panthers beat Milan in a pen shoot out, finished level with them on points and yet somehow ended up second to Milan on goal difference !

An embarrassment to the entire country. So no change there then. Looks like they've let UK hockey down again. Aalborg leading 5-1 with less than 10 mins remaining.

In fairness to them they were down to 15 skaters today and yesterday, and one of them was Valdix so that's 14 really.
But yeah, yet another failure to reach the final. Nowhere near matching us.

I'd be embarrassed. After winning their first 2 games all they had to do was avoid losing by 3, then they go and lose 4-0. Aalborg are really rubbing their noses in it now

Injuries or not that was a shocker not even making the super final 🤣.. bringing in Valdix had little effect then

Yeah, I was there too Pidge. We were the better team by far. Dominated it, the only reason we didn't win handsomely is because the refs didn't like our style of play and kept us killing penalties most of the night

Guilford go top of the league after last night's victory. Were they to win the league title, it would be the biggest upset of the status quo since Bracknell won the BISL in 99-00. What would it say about 1. The ability of Paul Dixon as a British coach, compared to his much higher profile rivals, 2. The level of financial commitment of the so called bigger teams, as I would guess Guilford wouldn't appear in the top 4 budgeted teams, 3. The general level of the Elite League, given that those players recruited by the bigger teams should theoretically be of a better standard and have much higher quality CV's.

The general level of the Elite League, given that those players recruited by the bigger teams should theoretically be of a better standard and have much higher quality CV's. 1) I think Dixon has done fantastically for them. Considering when Flames were coming up, plenty of NIHL/EPL fans were suggesting he was only good because he was on a high budget team. 2) As for Guildford's budget, I wouldn't expect it to be tiny. Despite their small fanbase paying dirt cheap prices, they are bankrolled by their owner Hepburn. They also managed to hold on to prized possessions like Ackerad and Davies for a long time. I think their dipping into ex college and USports guys isn't necessarily driven my finances. It's also set a trend for most other teams to look at these pools of players too. 3) I think it's way to early to judge. Flames have had 3 games against the Stars, 3 against the Storm, 1 against the Flyers, 1 against Clan and 3 against Steelers. Other clubs have had comparably harder starts, especially when you consider they've only played 4 away games out of 12 (we are worse at 1 away game out of 8!). They are currently top because they've played more games. Let's wait a month until games played gets somewhat more even.

Sounds like Connolly's had it for a while at least, be interesting to see how quickly the Yorks get the replacements in.

Valdix added for the EIHL as cover for Vallerand, who's also crooked, albeit it's taken them 2 weeks to find out.

Cross posted from roster thread as the story deserves a wider audience.... Wade Macleod is leaving the Storm, heading for Narvik in Norway's 2nd Division on a 1+1 contract as they move into the first division next year. Never realised until Narvik's article that he's had *four* brain tumors removed during his career and that the last one was cancerous (hence the recent three year gap as he learned to walk again *for the 4th time* and fight the cancer as well that time). Definition of a warrior! Good luck to the guy and his family. www.narvikhockey.no/artikel/uj76akwf3-36f4d/gode-krefter-bak-heftig-forsterkning

As you say, a really amazing story. Shame he didn't get a fairy tale ending in Manchester.

In the Coventry v Cardiff game, Devils nm was assessed a 2min penalty for'interference on a netminder'. How does that work ? I understood this penalty was assessed for interference ON, not interference BY.
