Rok was signed for one weekend! If Valdix impresses in the CC this weekend then he'll be retained for the rest of the season believe me ! Stojanovic was signed on a "short term try-out" deal, and that has been extended. If you can point me to the source that says he was signed for a weekend only...? By your own logic, "Nil points" Valdix surely won't be signed full time? Unless he has some special Sheffield mojo thing going on... (Which, to be fair, he may well have) I won't be surprised if he does well.

I won't be surprised if he does well. Just so I'm clear Pidge when you wouldn't be surprised if a player is going to do well (as you're now saying about Valdix) you express it... I see nil points Valdix has re signed in Sheffield 🤣 ? Asking so we don't in future accidentally think you're saying a player coming in as cover is rubbish or laughable when you're clearly not. Because the two statements weren't obvious bed fellows to me

Another fun packed day in the EIHL.
We now have the Steelers taking the stream the Danish hosts are providing to all for free, including those in Sheffield if so desired and charging their own fans £15 per game. They are putting their own commentary over the top(from a room in the uk) of the feed however.

I wonder how many fans from Sheffield will travel to Denmark? Strange times we're in at the minute and I'm not so sure if it was us playing this weekend that we'd take as many as we normally do into Europe.

Nothing surprises me with any eihl team

I see nil points Valdix has re signed in Sheffield 🤣 And yet that's not really quite accurate is it Pidge? The IIHF have granted the Steelers an extra roster spot to bring in Valdix (try out contract) as injury cover *only for the Continental Cup*. Just as Devil's were allowed to add a loan player for their European adventure without affecting their roster allowance. The Continental Cup falls under IIHF rules not EIHL so doesn't currently change their EIHL roster allowance. They haven't re-signed him for the EIHL. And won't have to - unless they then decided they want to bring him back for EIHL play *after the Continental Cup*. The press release makes it quite clear they haven't made a roster change under EIHL rules and that he is ineligible for EIHL play unless they later decide to sign him. Even Elite Prospects transfer service specifically lists his transfer as "For Continental Cup Only" Why did the IIHF have to grant Steelers special permission for an extra roster signing ? As they say,the Conti Cup is outside of EIHL rules and it was the EIHL who brought in this 19 man restricted roster thing etc. I’m assuming the other teams in the Conti Cup could have full 22 man benches so why did Steelers need any special permission to add Valdix to theirs ?

Because as I pointed out earlier in the thread, he's *not being added to their roster as a roster signing* only as temporary Injured Reserve cover.
They wouldn't require IIHF permission to add a player to their roster if it was a permanent signing but that would burn one of their EIHL change spots in the process.
It prevents teams from having a "Continental Cup" roster on top of their main roster - IE bringing in David Ling types short term just for Cup games they need to win then releasing them because they can't afford them long term and never intended to keep them. It's the IIHF trying to prevent people trying to the rig the competition.
If you have to apply for injury cover permission and never know how many slots will be granted (or if) no team can fake a series of injuries to bring in "ringers".
Looking at it cynically it gives Steelers a chance to road test a player before committing *and* have an extra player for the Cup

Steelers doing some lovely money grabbing this weekend. Aalborg are streaming all the games in the continental cup for free this weekend.
Except in the UK, where Steelers have "Purchased the UK rights", so fans will have to pay £15 per game or £30 for all the games.
Hopefully Steelers fans have VPNs.

Can the fans perhaps tune into a stream and accept the foreign commentary? I'm not well versed in all of this and VPN stuff also.
