Surprised that was allowed to stand, have we got UK refs? 2-0 Cardiff Same as Adey said,,goalie shouldn't just sit there complaining about being knocked over, he should have got up and made the save. But yes, they are EIHL refs

Have to see it again, but I didn't think there was a huge amount of time between the guy landing on him and the shot coming in. Still, goal.
2-1 after 2.

4-1. Totally deserved. Lausanne not comfortable chasing the game

4-1 final, well done Cardiff. Group very even now, 2 points between all of them.

That's a stunning result, really really pleased for them. I watched most of it and they thoroughly deserved it. Well done Cardiff

They will certainly start the season as favourites for me based on that, although Belfast look pretty strong too. Well done Cardiff!

Great result that, maybe this Swiss league isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. What’s that now Bern,Davos and Lausanne all been beaten by EIHL teams in the CHL.

Having looked at their team I googled 3 guys with non Swiss sounding names and all 3 had NHL/ AHL pedigree. Cardiff have clearly gone their homework and have a decent team.

I think we need to start bigging up the EIHL, the Swiss league IS all its cracked up to be, we're just getting better. The next hurdle now is to beat a Swedish team. It might not be for a while, but, ten years ago could you imagine a team from here winning the Continental Cup or even thinking about competing at this level

It might not be for a while, but, ten years ago could you imagine a team from here winning the Continental Cup or even thinking about competing at this level I think the Devils beat Vaxjo Lakers 5-1 and also took them to overtime the same season. Vaxjo lost in the final that season. The issue with EIHL teams is funding. Some of these teams operate on budgets of millions. They charter their own flights to games etc. Usually, the EIHL clubs are still finalising their roster the week of the opening game. To be best prepared, guys need to be in a month ahead of time and training/playing exhibitions. Not possible in the UK due to cost really. The EIHL can compete. Panthers showed that with their great run but doing it consistently is another thing though. That is the key for EIHL teams going forward.

Huge thank you for all the great comments you guys have said for our team, I would have been pleased with a 4 goal win for Lausanne, as long as we scored a goal, but last nights was one of those nights that come around once in a blue moon, certainly ranks in the top 3 games played at IAW. The night was untrue the atmosphere electric and the lads left it all on the ice, Lausanne with 5 more players and on big bucks had the wind knocked out of their sails, our discipline was spot on as it had to be, passion, desire, and skill was in abundance and was a huge boost for everyone. Looking forward to our games as always, hope your final signings are top draw and we all get to watch a great season, thanks again for your kind words and wish you guys nights like we experienced last night, heaven knows we all deserve them. Take Good Care All.

Wannabe2 claims "Mark Richardson has been as good as any import D man who has played over here", says "he's a different class in every which way". Have the hockey God's at the top end of the sport missed something ?

Yeah, that's not going to happen. Keep it to the CHL.
