We went all in on Bowns. Conceivably, we could have had: Lake or Hammond (2nd Pick) Batch or Davies (7th Pick) The other picks are all close together, but interestingly Plus worth remembering we picked Kieran Brown higher than Steelers picked Churchfield. I think if we didn't trade for Bowns that we may have gone for him as backstop to Whistle. Although the fact is we ended up wasting a pick on him that could have been a higher ranking player than Chamberlain (although I haven't hated him TBF). Didn’t Wallace or Gromit say they were recruiting with a view to try out players for the (hoped for) 21/22 season? Just thank goodness Golovkovs wasn’t available. Personally with all four teams having the same budget, signing window and time to put things together I think this mini series is more telling on coaching and recruitment staff than anything else and so far I’m seeing three coaches who I would have loved to see put a season together for the Panthers. Wallace or Gromit - OMG, love it.

Just watching the highlights. What a horror show. Apart from the lovely PPG, Panthers looked like they had weights on their boots. How good is Kirk? Tremendous skater. Whistle with some big saves, could've been 10.

In fairness, fairly quick fire recruitment for this was probably always going to be a bit hit and miss. The more I think of the Brit side of it though, I think they could've done a better job there. We went all in on Bowns. One could almost think the whole draft and including the trade/swop/Bowns thing was all one big behind the scenes league wide set up to give Manchester a chance seeing as there Brit pack to start with was very thin. And it’s backfired spectacularly on Panthers ! 🤔🙄

Hey remember I know a lot of things that went off behind those closed Panthers doors, things that would make you think “no way”....but they happened.

It’s not that bizarre believe me ! It really is. I've no idea what you knew or didn't know, but you've been out in the cold for a while now haven't you, so I doubt you're ITK about the machinations of the Elite Series draft.

To be fair, drafting Bowns allowed Panthers to pick an extra import forward. That's not worked spectacularly so far, shall we say, with two players yet to get into any sort of groove, points wise. An injury to Matheson or Ellis could be crippling too.
Sheffield are currently playing with only 7 imports, don't forget. What's the SP on Muse?

Awesome so Kirk is a fantastic skater compared to a bunch of players only putting in half the effort .. let's see if he looks a fantastic skater when GB play Russia ..

Signing Bowns just prevented one of the others doing it too. Sheffield had an import quality Brit forward or 4, plus a senior Brit defenseman on their list before the draft started.

Certainly compared to anyone on the GB team. Good job the rest of the Steelers aren't putting much effort in then.

The hilarious thing is panthers could tank every game and see beat the Steelers in the semis 🤣🤣

I was being slightly facetious, although Connolly is a PPG EIHL player, I'd say he's import quality too tbh. Big Nose probably isn't, but he's a good leader for them, and certainly a decent player for a Brit heavy league.

I do find it potentially telling that Panthers forward with the highest ice time has yet to register a point in 5 games.

Myers and Johnathan Phillips are certainly better than quite a few imports that we see in the EIHL. And what about Jason Hewitt, he’s somehow unbelievably 13th in the series scoring chart with 3+2 in five games..... Crikey ! 🙈😳
