calv you are a diamond.
European leagues being ahead on the whole makes sense given how far behind the UK is/was on the Covid recovery. The next three to four weeks will be rather interesting.

This account on Twitter is well worth a follow @ehcalliance. They have a regularly updated table of when European leagues are due to start. This was their latest table Tweet on 4th August:

Cheers Jonp. Clearly we will be taking our lead from the other European leagues. They will be making their official decisions before we do.

Thing is that the club management have no part of the decision If and when the season starts. The decision will be made by government, local authorities and finally the arenas. Local lockdowns are going to be happening for a very long time yet. What’s going to happen if a rink or arena gets locked down in an area? NB knows there is no chance this season is going to happen and he’s basically told the players to go where they can get paid. 5000 people indoors at an arena? Not a hope in hell and pretty much zero chance in Scotland.

Even if there is some miraculous green light the investment involved for it to backfire one month in for example is surely not worth the risk. Just can it the season & concentrate on more important things like err... being alive & well for example.

Just can it the season & concentrate on more important things like err... being alive & well for example. That’s the sensible option, just can the season and that’s what they should do,however as ever the various teams greed for cash is making them potentially take a huge risk that’s not worth taking in a league as fragile as the EIHL. If they get going and then have to stop again that’s going to create one heck of a financial problem, one that probably half the EIHL teams couldn’t sustain. Neil Black knows that, that’s why Panthers are doing what they are and it’s why he kept referring to the longer term future. He knows without question that starting then having to stop again would be potential suicide.

Pidge if the Inferno is the Dandy , this forum is definately the Topper, it mainly consists of 4/5 completely negative people who’s main aim is take the Mickey out of the league, and its owners, and no 0ne could come close to topping you guys when it comes to moans and groans. It’s so amusing it’s farcical. Also Pidge the ECHL is hoping to start 4/5 Dec,and that also depends on no restrictions, got that from the horses mouth. Anyway keep up the moaning lads, I always loved the Allo Allo TV show, good Moaning. Stay safe. Oh come on now. Be fair. At least 6 moaners, you can count me in. If the leagues not run well and people are in belief of that you say so. Half the time we are all quessing. It's just topical. Whilst some teams are recruiting and others seemingly not. The league meetings may have said recruit if you want and declare if you want but understand there's a deadline to be had.

Again a lack of clarity from the league, some owners doing it one way some another. There appears to be very little solidarity in place.

Assuming we don't have a season (likely) what happens to CHL and Conti Cup?

Assuming we don't have a season (likely) what happens to CHL and Conti Cup? well if both competitions go ahead and EIHL doesnt, cant really see either Devils or Steelers assembling a team to play a few games if there isnt a season here no doubt Devils would be put forward again to the CHL for NOT winning the league

Assuming we don't have a season (likely) what happens to CHL and Conti Cup? I would assume whoever Devils were due to play in the CHL would just get a bye to the next round. In the Mickey Mouse euro cup one would assume the group would just play the round with the remaining three teams.

Drove through Matlock earlier today.... The number of people not obeying the 1.5/2 metre rule was terrifying.
We are inevitably heading for another spike, the general public are just plain dumb.

They are dumb right enough, and that’s being kind. The truth is we are living with a ton of bloody morons unfortunately. How this will end is anybodies guess.

Glynne is was agony mate, I was horrified. We need a cure for this thing because there's no way we are stopping the spread with so many cretins out there. Have you see similar out in Cardiff?

I haven’t been going out much, as nothing appeals to me at the moment, I only venture out to get food, or to walk, but I have heard it’s pretty manic, people are just so bloody stupid. Very lucky to have a nice garden, cold beers, so that’s me sorted, until there’s a cure for this thing I ain’t going far. Stay safe.

Clan chief Gareth Chalmers finally admits to being “highly sceptical” the 20/21 season will start and could be mothballed for a year.
