Very short memories on some people. Extremely short. But you know, for even the most vocal folks, it seems their team winning stuff is ultimately all they truly need. Even in the Panther's Grand Slam season there were many cautious voices among the fanbase, quite rightly as subsequent events have shown. If only we had an owner who sat on the bus with us and brought a round now and then, the ills of the EIHL would disappear overnight....

I'm sorry but, given how vocal you were regarding the EIHL etc when Cardiff were a basket case team, being dragged through the mud by incompetent owners, your 'Road to Damascus' like conversion smacks firmly of "I'm alright Jack". Just because everything is now rosy in Cardiff doesn't make it so across the entire EIHL. Sorry if I upset anyone, that was the last thing I wanted to do, this league depends on everyone pulling together, and working together. No team can manage without the other that’s a fact, every team is as important as the next, and if I sent out the wrong vibes then I apologise for that. That was never ever my intention believe me, stay safe all and hopefully we can all get back to watching our favourite sport, and having a beer with each other sooner than later. Not really true that about all teams being as important as each other though is it. Where would the EIHL be without Manchester and Dundee ? And then where would it be without Panthers and Steelers ?

Wow, a statement that completely defies the EIHL policy. Ask Basingstoke, Newcastle, Hull, Edinburgh, MK or Phoenix fans about that shall we? You're mildly fortunate not to be amonst that list yourself.
So yeah, celebrate your latest resigning with those blinkers to the actual EIHL 'family' firmly in place. Just understand that many here know the real story, some in far greater detail.

Statement from Forest today stating that ST refunds will "of course" be available for those who want them for the remainder of the season. They do however offer several options for supporters who don't wish to pursue a refund OFFERING them the chance to donate the money to the club and thanking them with gestures of goodwill like iFollow passes for the behind closed doors games, cup tickets when things return to normal or club shop credit. Neil Black, take note. Forest have outlined how much it would cost the club if everybody claimed refunds (over £1m) and outlined the effects this would have on the club if everybody were to claim the refund. Now I understand the finances are vastly different in hockey but this kind of transparent message to the fans, asking them to help the club yet realising they have no right to just expect that of their fans is fantastic engagement with the fan base. I really hope the Panthers look and learn and offer something similar because a statement like this and 99% of fans will happily donate their money. The 1% likely need that money to support their families during a pandemic. Just expecting fans to take a few Mickey Mouse games doesn't work. They must at the very least make a refund an option. Link below for anybody interested in a read. Proud of my Football Club today, as and when more is known about the next installment of EIHL I would hope to feel the same about my Hockey Club. www.nottinghamforest.co.uk/news/2020/june/letter-from-the-chairman-120620/

Liked the point that they communicated with the fans also about this. Great work and a joy that they also see it as valuable to have fan organisations around them to speak with, NOT to tell the club how to operate. This brings to mind what the Trust was trying to do. Just shows you how it can work and not sure but I can guess the fans they spoke to were probably part of the same Trust clan they have over there.

There has been a staff meeting today for arena staff and unless something drastically changes there are no plans to open anytime soon. a phased opening plan is being looked at but nothing possibly until half term October. Cant see this magic 5 going ahead either. Also heard all casual staff (some do as many hours as the full timers) have been issued redundancy notices.

Questions that we all know exist but seem unwilling to answer. 1). Will there be hockey again in the calendar year 2020. 2). Would you feel safe watching a game live in any British arena/rink. 3). Can our sport really survive the Covid bodyblow. I hate to say but my thoughts are NO, NO, NO.

Can’t see there being any hockey because in this country clubs rely so heavily on the paying fans to fund the team. I’d feel safe to attend a live game should there be the necessary health and safety measures in place I think the bigger clubs won’t have a problems due to popularity and interest, the smaller teams working with smaller budgets I feel will be hit hardest but I’d like to think the league has a contingency for this and plans in place to secure the league

I'm amazed the league havent come out and made the announcement. I'm sure they are in denial. Especially the clubs who have been selling ST as per normal!

No because it’s just asking for trouble. 3. Yes because the big clubs will bail out the little teams rather than see the “golden goose” get slaughtered. They could also mothball the whole EIHL for a year too, hockey teams have hardly any costs unless they’re actually playing hockey.

1). Will there be hockey again in the calendar year 2020. It won't start at the usual time, but I wouldn't write off the entire year just yet. Plenty can change in 4-6 months. 2). Would you feel safe watching a game live in any British arena/rink. I wouldn't go at the moment, but again it depends how things develop. 3). Can our sport really survive the Covid bodyblow. Yes, 100%. The Elite League in its current format may not survive intact, but ice hockey will still have its fan base around the UK when this is sorted out, and people will want to cash in on that.

Are you Dave Simms in disguise lol .. lots can change in 4-6 months? 6 months takes us upto December. The season wont start then and be a 5 month season and condense things. Think of the costs involved.. then they need 2-3 weeks training before the season to get in some sort of shape

Just this week they found the steroid treatment which has proven and significant benefits to people who are hit hardest by it. There's plenty of other treatments being trialled all the time. They might come to nothing, they might change everything. I don't know why teams are selling tickets, or signing players, at the moment, but they'd be equally foolish to take anything other than a wait and see attitude to getting going again, and not closing off any avenues.

It's pretty unlikely there wont be a vaccine this year and more likely match (if at all) P.s. I said that in March when NO ONE knew much about it.. we are alot more aware of it now and it wasnt a week when I changed my mind either about it

Nothing wrong with changing your mind as knowledge improves, but that applies to the league too. That knowledge will be improving every day.
So wait and see, don't over promise and see what happens.
