You say this every season and you know nothing will change so why bring it up lol. You say it's groundhog day but it is with the fans as well. Remember this is the same set of players who started the season well!! Is this really down to quality? It might be the same set of players but form went down when meaningful games started... lets be honest there is no pressure to win games pre season.. Plus I think we have massively overestimated our team too with the whole “new era” thing.

It's what I've always said. A city centre venue! Had we moved out of town on a development project I feel things would be a lot different. Things wiĺl never change irrespective of who the GM/owner is ! Trying to keep 20+ players focused for 54 games is pretty much impossible when you have so much distraction nearby. If Panthers and Cardiff exchanged players the outcome would be pretty much the change I feel. Cardiff seem to manage their 20+ players quite nicely and keep them focussed through a season though Pidge. And even when they’ve played CHL too which has always been a very convenient rose tinted Panther fans excuse when ever we’ve played CHL or Conti but struggled in the league. Panthers trouble is we don’t spend the money we could,if we did the player quality might offset the distraction of Nottingham life. Where is our real quality the likes of which Cardiff have ? In any case, from what I hear Cardiff is not exactly dull in terms of being a party town at night, it’s no doubt got more than it’s fair share of pubs, clubs, casinos and hockey slappers ! Cardiff has tons of pubs, clubs, restaurants etc, and what about Belfast, 10 min walk to centre with hundreds of pubs, clubs and tons of entertainment, yet they seem to be doing okay, it’s surely about discipline if that really is the problem.

Over both games this weekend. We were pretty disciplined the only exception was the 5 on 3 against the giants. At the start of the season we were sound penalty killers too.
I personally think it's a mixture of loss of confidence and conditioning. They can't skate for the full 60 mins very often .
And the ridiculous schedule as well!! How we've got so many more games in front of other teams is crazy ! And games against the better teams as well.

How many 'casuals' do devils attract who then move on to a night out round town ?

Just back home in Belfast. Was surprised at the result last night, we (Giants) should have lost that game on paper. 6 players out injured, two the night before in what was nothing short of a battle in Manchester.
If the Panthers came out and played a high intensity game and made us work then soon enough we would have faded later in the game due to the short bench. Was surprised that never happened. Instead 5 on 5 the game was rather timid which suited us well.
It just all felt too nice in Nottingham, timid atmosphere and none of the Panthers players seemed to want to battle on the boards or put their weight around. Having a player or two like that on a team can really lift other players to that level.
I'm glad to skate out with two very hard earned points and 4 for the weekend. Giants stuck together as a team and managed to find a way in end to win.
Anyway once again Nottingham is a great city with lots of friendly fans. Hopefully be back sometime soon.

Over both games this weekend. We were pretty disciplined the only exception was the 5 on 3 against the giants. At the start of the season we were sound penalty killers too. Interesting point. You are right, Panthers' PK has fallen from the start of the year, but when you're 50 for 54 (a phenomenal 92.6%) after 14 competitive games, the only way is down, and I'd expect some of the fall is just what geeks call "reversion to the mean". (In layman's terms, "you can't possibly keep that up over the season".) Any PP above 20% and PK above 80% is pretty good for me. I tend to add the two together and if it's over 100, then the team can be fairly happy. Even with the last few games, league only, the PP stands at 22.39% and the PK is 81.33%. Both are higher in the Cup, but that's only been 3 games. The best combined NHL special teams team last year was the Bruins, at 23.6% + 83.7% = 107.3%. Worst were the Oilers at 14.8% + 76.7% = 91.5%.

We really seem to be missing a quality centre, someone who can set up play. All lines play the same way, fire it in to the corner, chase and hope to win it. It was evident last night against Belfast, they had Murphy who was prepared to carry the puck in and try to set up a play.

It was evident last night against Belfast, they had Murphy who was prepared to carry the puck in and try to set up a play. The only line that’s doing it is Pither’s, because he’s the only one that seems capable of carrying it into the zone. We’ve got three lines dumping it and the majority of the time we lose the puck.

Roster always looked short on goals. Ethos at the club is the biggest problem as the same thing happens every season. Great starts and then drop off. I keep thinking back to the day I stood on Bolero Square a dozen years ago and asked Dion Darling why Panthers never challenged for the league He pointed his arms towards town and widened them apart then said “that’s why”. It’s too cushy in Pantherland, players come in chomping at the bit and play well for a few weeks, then suddenly realise there is no pressure or competition here for your spot so they slack off and just enjoy Nottingham life. We should gas a player and replace him, then sign a couple of good extra imports to keep them all fighting for their spot. I can buy the bit about no pressure or competition to fight for a place. Can't buy the bit about Nottingham life or being in the City to blame. All the clubs have similar distractions available.

We need to give Rich time to turn it around. I certainly think he might make changes earlier than other coaches have but the lack of confidence is a concern. Totally agree about the 2 at the top and i think the only way something might change would be if attendances dropped a lot. It hasn't helped with some injuries although our opponents have been short benched. Then there seems to be a problem with Guptill being left out. Its never easy to make big changes when the season is underway. No doubt he will know by now who he doesn't want around the team, but then its a question of getting rid of them and getting others in. Yes we need to give Rich time.
