And that video was shocking. If Dan thinks it’s a good idea to interview GD whilst practice is happening in the background, he’s wrong. So much background noise it’s unreal. Only need 2 things for a good video, see it well and hear it well. 50% on that, just like our season Some new questions from Dan wouldn’t go amiss either instead of the same ones every time. 🙄 How the hell does he even still have a job?

Cos he’s probably easy going and won’t say anything back to NB or GD. Our media stuff is miles behind the other teams. Just like we are in nearly every department

Absolute garbage and yet another dumpster fire added to the Panthers payroll I couldn't agree more. Even getting complimented today on the questions he asked GD!. So Doucet has admitted recruitment hasn't been great.. but what's he going to do to rectify that when the budget will be no better and may actually get cut more ! It's clear he doesn't have the contacts like fox has but thats another matter. Coaching wise I don't see fox and Wallace too dissimilar

I know some people are upset with how the season has panned out but under the current circumstances I don’t think we should be digging into people within the club.
I imagine a lot of people are hurting after losing Gary and it will be even more difficult for the people who have stepped up to cover his responsibilities. They will be putting pressure on themselves, mistakes will be made and I don’t think it’s a good look for the fans if we pile in on them at this moment in time. We should be rallying together right now.
I know people will say we’ve heard it all before but I at least appreciate some transparency from Gui and Dan’s chat. They’ve let us know that they’ve failed to get a player in and Doucet stated he’s made mistakes in recruitment. Doucet has also acknowledged that some physicality and toughness could help some of the players on the team, but he also talked about the restricting factors on player availability at the minute. Doucet knows he’s got to bring players in, hopefully we will soon have those players.
One final comment I will make though is that Neil Black has got to take charge and lead the club off the ice through this difficult time. This is a pivotal moment in the club’s history.

I think the time for patience has gone for me. As for pulling together, I don't buy that either... Owner - literally robbing and insulting us. Needs to go Media - pathetic and outdated. Just look at NHL youtube highlights of intros as a starting point, update the music and ask the fans what they want. How hard can that be? Coaching - yes they were given a fourth-placed budget but c'mon, we signed a bottom-placed team's coach... Either clap along blindly or try to call it out. This is not a dig as I totally respect the loyalty and I was there in about 2011 but having seen what followed us finally winning a title (which I called at the time as Ling-inspired rather than a coaching and signing masterclass) I feel that a massive regime change is needed. Failure should not be tolerated by a big club in any sport.

My comment about pulling together was in regards to not having digs at people in the club, it’s not the greatest time for people working in the club, their friend and colleague has just passed away. If we want fans opinion on here to be respected by the club then maybe the way we put them across might help, that’s all I was thinking. Trying to be positive. I agree with the comments you’ve made, there are issues, I’ve talked about them on here myself. I’ll refer to my final point in my previous post, Neil Black has got to lead the club in this pivotal moment, he holds the keys to helping everyone within it and ultimately this will dictate whether things improve or not.

Yes, agree with that, I just feel that this has been the case for over a decade and he hasn't thus far. He has taken on the role of an autocrat and is surrounded by an echo chamber. As has been stated, if this were a football team fans would mobilise and he wouldn't be making the same profit so would walk...he is like a city banker who makes error after error and still gets a massive annual bonus despite failing the customers.

Failure should not be tolerated by a big club in any sport. Bit harsh to criticise Wallace because he came from MK. He was signed as a player and only became coach when the original quit with the club in disarray, not paying players and making the Caps look like a well run organisation. The questions should be more directed to Doucet. He talks about the salary cap, but if we're led to believe that this actually means we're spending the same as Sheffield, Belfast, etc... Then he's failed abysmally and far worse than his admission in the interview would imply. As for the off-ice changes? I'm willing to give them a chance, but I'm pretty apprehensive given the lack of experience it means Panthers are left with throughout the organisation. We've got a coach with only a few years experience, a Director of Hockey with only a few years experience and the new off-ice side has no GM experience or proffesional hockey experience at all (AFAIK). Obviosuly you don't need pro hockey experience to work commercial side or in particular media, etc... but we have lost an enormous amount of knowledge of the game with Gary's passing.

Another team who appear to be run more as a business than a sports team, would like to be classed as one of the big boys but constantly finish outside the top few places.

Historically Panthers were a community team. Whole families would go for years on end. And we werent expected to win all the time. In the ISL days we were small fry compared to the cheque book teams that gutted the sport in this country. Then the arena came along and the ISL colapsed. Suddenly Panthers were on a level playing field, however you still had the same crowd. Loyal, game knowledgable fans who had been there for years. It was a slow start for the arena era. We didnt start to really see Panthers compete for a few years. But all the while more and more 'come for the occasion' fans started coming. And sadly the community feel of the club slipped away. As such slowly but surely the club has swapped old time, knowledgeable fans for people who dont really understand the game but like to go for the match night experience. I want to point out that theres nothing wrong with those fans. Everyone can spend thier money thier own way. But there is a side effect of these sorts of crowds is that they dont demand high quality product. Good cup runs will satisfy these people. Whereas older fans like myself see it as 'i went though the hard times where there was no hope, now i want the good times where we should be winning'. Its immensely frustrating watching Panthers blow thier chance year after year even though we're not small fry anymore. Personally as someone who understands the game better than the average fan what really gets me is the garbage on ice product of the last few years. We're boring. Dump and bloody chase. No! Just no! We can afford quality players who can play the puck get them. We're not a shoe string team that cant afford class. Sign players who can pass a puck and create space with movment. But the average fan cant tell the difference. Our powerplay is frankly ugly. You compare our club to steelers. A club born on instant success. Their fans only know one thing so is it any wonder they demand as much. Since Panthers have never truley dominated British hockey, its no wonder our fans dont expect us to. And no cup runs dont count. Its about being the team to beat week in week out. Season in season out. This quote, from almost 4 years ago on this thread, still stands true today. I fear nothing will ever change. All I've ever wanted is for our club to love us (fans) as much as we love it

In Lehman's terms Black has to go.. while he ever stays nothing will change

Pidge, im sure that many of us would like Black to go. But, what is the reality? Is there a hockey mad millionaire out there that will ride in on his white horse and serve this this fanbase what it truly desires? Is there 'eckers like!! Cardiff were the luckiest club in this country when they landed their owners. What is the best that we can hope for?

You don't need to be a multi millionaire to own a eihl hockey club . Just.. I don't think Smith is and we know little of Belfast's owners as well . It's about spending on a budget a decent % of your incomings not pocketing the lot like black does
The best we can hope for is a sports fan who wants to success on the ice and sets on competent people around him to achieve this . From the outside looking in it looks total amateurish

You don't need to be a multi millionaire to own a eihl hockey club You do to own Nottingham. £7million was the price tag in 2015, and you still had to give NB a % of the merch sales.

You would need to be a millionaire to buy Panthers but not necessarily to run it. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that £7million valuation were true based on the potential huge profits to be made.

Back in 1999 you didn't need to be a multi millionaire to buy panthers ... I doubt there's many multi millionaire owners in the elite league either. Yes that valuation is based upto turnover I'd imagine.. just goes to show how much they rip off the fans eh

Valuations are based on average profits over a number of years x some sort of calculation by the accountants and you arrive at a valuation. I went through this about 20 years ago with my company when I split from my then business partner. Our accountant friends on here could shed some more light on it I would imagine.
