I'm no fan of Adams, but that's a tough break.

A very surprising decision......I can only assume Tony Smith has a quality coach already lined up as a replacement.
Has Weber signed with Coventry yet for next season?
Very tough on Adams and his family.

That's what I'm talking about. What a will to be the best! We would have retired his shirt.
Welcome back thommo

Completely shocked. Two consecutive coaches sacked mid-term on their contracts, and G narrowly missing out on the Grand slam. If I were a coach, I dont think I would give up a secure contract to go to Sheffield.

There could be a little queue, Corey, Paul Adey, Chuck Weber... long shot Jeff Hutchins all without jobs at the moment.

Typical move by an owner who has no clue of building a quality competitive team for the long term. I doubt he has anyone in place or Simms would have leaked it by now. Maybe G made some demands for next year that Smith balked at.

What is the classy comment all about??
G did well. Tony thinks it wasn't good enough. It's his club, his money, his rules.
We failed miserably in 2 cup finals and relied on the Clan dropping points to win the league. Yes, it was a good season but probably should have been so much better.
I'm shocked by the decision as just about everyone else is. But, until we see what Tony does in replacement of G, it's best not to judge.
Also, what is wrong with wanting to be the "Real Madrid" of UK hockey as you put it. It's a determination to be the best, only time will tell if Tony has it right.

I think it'd be an unimaginative, lack-of-effort sideways step.
So quite likely to happen.

Is it April 1st?
Adams joined part way through the 13/14 season and inherited an average Steelers team from big Doug. Won the play off title.
This season he builds on that and delivers the league title plus runners up in the cup and play offs. Looked like progress to me.
Grand Slam or the sack then for the next man in.

Bizarre move me. TS has set a precedent now. If you can't win the league and keep your job good luck to the next guy. Straight out if he don't win a cup?
Maybe they know CN isn't going to be at panthers and they have gone for him. no idea obviously.
Can't see thommo going there. surely his priority is making blaze the best they can be.

Would you bet any money that this won't work out for them though Ted? They do stuff like this, we laugh, and then the next guy wins anyway. It sounds like they want some big noise to run the thing, unless it's Weber I'll be very surprised if it's someone from the current pool of EIHL coaches.

If I were a coach, I dont think I would give up a secure contract to go to Sheffield. Well Sheffield had a lot of very poor games last season and won the league by default when the Clan bottled it. Perhaps winning (and entertaining) is more important to the the Steelers owner than it is to ours.
