I agree with you Tex that we have the disappointment of another failed league title attempt (in all probability), but there are some folks on here who seem to think that the season is over once we have lost touch with the top.
I gave up last seasons league games on the back of a number of poor performances and results, but went to all of the playoff (home and away) and Challenge Cup (final and semi final home and away). It just seems strange to me that some people have belittled the other tournaments to a greater extent than is probably justifiable.
For what its worth, I think this season you have been far more supportive of the team/club on here than in previous seasons - perhaps you are beginning to mellow!

i think there is some over reaction to league title challenges being dead and buried, (myself included) when it comes to supporting other competitions.
however, just to point a slant on it, at least my feelings.
my disappointment comes from us losing the league challenge so early on, this takes away the enjoyment of the remaining games for me, i will turn up at the NIC each week now, willing a Panthers win, however it won't be as exciting as it should be as we're not fighting for the league so if we lose, hey ho, doesn't matter onto next weeks meaningless game.
thats what makes it so dis heartening, there is nothing that can compare to turning up at the arena expecting to see two teams like panthers and belfast go hammer and tounges to get 2 points when it really matters, when its not so important to one team other than for pride or playoff position it just lacks that little bit of something for me.
it happens year on year, we get to Feb and i lose interest in the results as we have blown our shot at winning the title, or like now, we spend our time focused on other teams results.
just very disappointing.

We are still fighting for a place in the playoffs don't forget. That makes it more exciting. Yeah, I expect to see some awesome displays of hockey during the run up to the play-offs. Its no foregone conculsion that Panthers will be one of the 80% of teams that qualify for the POs. Still a lot to play for and edge of the seat hockey is guaranteed. Come to the Panthers Party at The Fabulous NIC and remember, the louder you roar higher the score, etc, etc.... ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Play-off speaking, and with tables they currently stand if we finished 2nd we'd play Caps in q'finals; drop to 3rd and we get Clans. If we aren't going to win the league, then 2nd is still better than 3rd in terms of league and potential PO opponents. Outside of that, even if there is 'nothing' to play for except pride in the closing stages, i still want to see them give 100% for the wins.

But the one bonus is every year we always get the chance to hammer whoever is top of the League near the end of the season when it doesnt matter and have the whole stadium singing:
"top of the league you're having a laugh"
I am sure we will be singing that song at some stage soon and wondering where it all went wrong again
(Except one year we will realise the joke is in us all along when you think about it)
