Tait and Philips on their way out?

Rumours (from several sources) that Tait and captain mouth are on their way out of the frying pan in Shuff.

Not sure on how firm these rumours are.

A rumour/piece of info I am confident is sound (because of the source) is that lapdog Hewitt is not happy at all and is by no means the only one. There are serious, serious questions being asked within the ranks.

TBH I'd expect all of the players to be unhappy / unsettled by the recent activity.

In a short career, with limited scope of carrying on after you hang up the skates you can't really blame them for looking elsewhere. Phillips' stock is quite high and as long as he stays in the UK we'll still be able to see someone give him a few slaps when his inevitable jibes start to roll out.

Have we got any space for Tait on the roster......?

Nielson said that KSP was unable to sign for another UK team when he announced his retirement.

I think they need the clubs permission, and I doubt they would get it.

The two week contract thing doesnt make any difference at all.

What are they going to do, force them to play? Every team, especially one in Sheffield s position, needs a few players that really don't want to be there. If they want out, they'll be out. Contracts mean nothing, not in this game and not in others.

No, but we can stop them playing for another team in the UK, just like you did with Simoes.

And you think you would? Simoes was a different story altogether. Do you not think it's about time this Sheffield 'we can do this, we can do that' stopped as it's that attitude that's got you in the mess you're in today.

I'd love to see you try and stop them, you'd still have to pay them and right now you can't afford the laces from Phillips' skates so how you are going to pay 50% of a roster who want away and then pay their replacements as well just to prove a point is beyond me.

It's all very well talking about what you 'can' do, but the real world doesn't work like that, even if you can cite a rare instance where such rules were enforced.

I think we would, yes. They have signed for the Sheffield Steelers, not Dave Matsos or Dave Simms.

If they wanted to leave us, fine, but I would hope (just like you did with Simmoes, despite how you wan to spin it) that if we could, we would stop them from playing for another club in the UK. If they want to find work abroad, fine, but by leaving us now for another UK team, they would be dumping on the club and I think most teams, in the same situation would do the same.

Now I may be wrong, but from what I can gather from he rules, they would need the Steelers permission to sign for another team in the UK. We wouldn't have to keep them on our books, and we wouldn't have to keep paying them. If Bob Phillips so felt like it (and I wouldn't blame him if our British players left us up a certain creek without a paddle), he could prevent them signing for you, Coventry or any other EIHL team.

Morally questionable maybe, but whats good for the goose.....

Really hope that things are going on behind the scenes to ensure the Steelers future because the players already signed there must be pretty worried about the coming season no matter who is saying what.

Aye, me too. I don't know who's right or wrong in all this, in fact I don't care. I just want my club to be there, in the strongest possible position it can be, come the start of the season.

To further confuse the issue, would thewy actually be registered to Steelers yet?

If not, the only legal link is their contract, which as we know, is only good for 2 weeks notice.

Semoes was only stopped playing for the steelrs because .

A, He was on paid two weeks notice , so we where paying him at the time

and B , it was a publicity stunt by DS to get a few more bums on seats for the local Derby between us two .

on youre basis then , Betty who worked in the steelers office is not allowed to work for anyone , lets say for Coventrys office as an example unless the steelers gave permission ?

I think you miss the point. You are looking only from the fans view. You say them leaving you up a certain creek without a paddle but think of it from their position, how do they know they wont be left up the same creek without a paddle? Over the past few weeks they've seen fabrication after cover up after scandal with the 'official statements' being proved to be almost consistently false.

It's very easy to talk about it in an objective manner when it's not your career that's at stake.

Depends on what was written in her contract. When I was at a particular sauce manufacturing company my contact stated that I wasn't allowed to work for a similar company for 3 years after leaving this company.
