It was tongue in cheek Sun, my point is that you can't blame anyone. The vitriol Robinson and Rooney have been facing is embarassing. But When's the last time Rooney had a good game for England? When was the last time he had a good game full stop? That lad could be a truely quality player and a great asset to England, If he could/would pass a ball instead of trying to go for glory from 30 yards all the time! Untill then he'll just be a liability with his temper and bad timed tackles

Hasn't scored a competitive goal since Portual 04 and I'd say that was the last time he did anyhing. Meanwhile Beckham had a hand in 8 of England's last 10 goals. I strongly believe the media should award points for asssists like ice hockey. 2 points a goal, 1 an assist. Then people would recognise players' contribution more.

Mate, i think you're confusing me with an anti-Beckham bloke. I was against it when he dropped him and i still struggle to see the sense behind it.

While I agree that the press are notoriously fickle, to blame them for Rooney's slump doesn't take into account the player is supposedly a pro footballer. All sportsmen go through loss of form, but two years (with England) of under performance simply isn't acceptable from one so talented.

If we were to get hammered tonight do you think he might quit?

McLaren? Why would he? He's got a cushty role that has a reputation of tolerance for crap performance. He's got it rosey.

Well we didnt get hammered and he wont be quiting, but boy was that a dull game!
Had a couple of positives out of it - richards i thought had a gud debut at right back and carrick seemed to be more attacking minded than, rather than his usual sit if front of the defense and pass it routine! but and i never thought id say this, we are missing hargreaves!
Holland were a shadow of some of their previous teams, we did seem to improve from the last couple of matches which is gud seeing as we are now down to 3rd in the euro qualifing group.

It was an experimental game for Holland. The empty seats gave the game away.
Van Basten needs to make up with Van Bommel and Ruud.
Fancy not picking a proven star player - who now plays at Real Madrid - for non-football reasons. You'd never see an Eng boss doing that!

'gud'? I didn't realise hobbits were dyslexic!
I didn't think it was that bad a game, there were a few decent chances for both sides and i certainly don't think it could be classed as dull. Good to see Rooney stick one away too, it's about time really and will do wonders for his confidence.

Now considered to be the worst England shambles of a team since ’99. Somewhere on a beach in the Bahamas there is a bald Swede chuckling away to himself.
McClaren isn’t happy about the quality of our final ball. Somewhere on a beach in Spain there is a blonde Englishman...

Well that was like a competition to see who could be the worst player on the park!
it was close between Phil Neville and Carrick, altough defoe made a late bid at the end....
England have great players but an aweful team.

Phil Neville wasn't too bad, he was eclipsed by Lampard who has never been a left winger in his life. SWP lost the ball almost every time he was given it (and that isn't an exaggeration) and Carrick was dreadful. This England team has no creativity without Beckham, i've said it before and i'll say it again.

I let Lampard off because he was played in a postition he's probably never played in his life before (at least phil neville is supposed to be able to play full back!)
I didnt think SWP did that badly, he was the only player who actually bothered to take on players. No final ball though.
England would have got nowhere over the last 5 or so years without Beckham's delivery, i think that's being shown now.
If Michael Carrick can play for England, so can i....

He tried to take on players, but he didn't manage it once. He lost it every time.

Why is Steve McClaren England manager?
What a shambles. I'd like to know what's the combined salary is of last nights muppet show.
It'll be a lot higher than their ability merits.

According to the Guardian, McLaren has now made the worst start to an England career than any other manager.
