McClaren isn’t happy about the quality of our final ball. Somewhere on a beach in Spain there is a blonde Englishman... I don't think bringing DB back would solve it, he would be too jet lagged now he will have to fly in from California. You can't have him in the side just because he get a goal from a free kick now and again. Law of averages states he will do that. Even if he did get a cross in the referee would give a foul against Crouchy for holding the defender down. How many times did he get pulled up for it, only to do it again the next time.

I see it the paper that David Beckham says he would walk across the Atlantic to play for England.
David, you are not Brian Clough. ;D

See no ones mentioned the game from yesterday. I only caught the last 20 mins and thank god. In a way i hope we dont qualify for the euros as we can then get rid of sven jnr and bring someone else in, more capable!

Is anybody surprise SM sucks? I see El Tel is keeping his hed down.
We're better off not qualifying for Austria/Switz.

Course he is. The only difficult decision he's made and he's backing down on it, the useless toad.

Steve McLaren is just a yes man who sucks up to all at FA headquarters that's the only reason he got the job England will make no progress whatsoever under this plonker

He is a plonker, but bringing back Beckham isn't a mistake. Dropping him in the first place was.
Beckham's season in the MLS will end in November 2007. The Euro Champs (qualification pending) in 2008 will lead to him being loaned back to a Premiership or other Euro side until the summer.

I think that's mere paper talk. It'll happen if it needs to. I think their chance to get rid of the $500,000 per week wages whilst they're not playing may take precedent.

So Beckham's come back game was a successful one, One good cross for a goal but not much else. There were no goals from his " trademark free kicks" and I don't think one really troubled their keeper. What does annoy me is when we have the ball in an attacking position in the opponents half, (not just Brazil). Why do we play it back into our own half to try and get an opening. When there is not an opening it goes deeper until the keeper has to kick it up the field, which 99% of the time goes to the other team. Why don't they try to cross it, if we are going to give the ball away from the keepers kick, we may as well try to be constructive around their box and not put ourselves under pressure and have it near our box. You never know, the ball might take a nasty bounce or hit a divot on the pitch and go over the keepers boot as he is about to kick it. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

He's not being paid that much. He's on normal Prem wages of about £4m p/a. I can't see him being loaned as LA have post and pre-season tours and he'll need a break. If he was to be loaned out he'd be playing 16 months without a break. Lord - it was a good performance by Becks. He set up the goal and set up just about every Eng chance. Besides that he did nothing.

Estonia have not scored a competitive goal for 20 months and that was a penalty against the mighty Luxembourg!!
What price they break their duck on Wednesday against England?

After just hearing McClaren's interview where he said 'we'll see' about playing Beckham again you really do have to wonder if he'll ever admit he was wrong. He's like a politician.
At least he brought him back. Venables would not have even done that.

Not a very impressive performance against a third rate team, they made Beckham look good though. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) There looks to be some good players coming through the U21s, if they ever get the chance. The two wingers that played had pace and could beat opponents with tricky runs with the ball. I would play Rooney in the U21s finals in Holland, but maybe that's a bit unfair on the players who have got them there.

I think its time we dropped lampard when hargreaves is fit and free gerrard to attack. i was a big fan of frank a couple of years ago but he has no influence in what happens in the game anymore.

In the World Cup we scored 6 goals. Becks got 3 assists and 1 goal.
If only the rest of the team were as rubbish as Beckham.

With all due respect, those who fail to see what Beckham did and still does for England aint worth the bandwidth they waste. If he didn't live the personal life he did, he wouldn't be criticised anywhere near as much.

McClaren is obviously a people person, he knows how to treat players with a great deal of respect....or not. hope he aint around much longer.

seems as he pretty much does nothing but go round checking up on players form and possible new players to join the squad surely he could have bothered to put more effort into reaching Sol who can only be described as a brilliant servant for England, can still remember that brilliant run up the field he made against Romania in the 98 world cup
if i didnt want to see Sol in and England shirt again id hope he tells him to shove it.
never like McClaren, always seem like a spineless teachers pet who got the job for being a yes man
