Long time, no chat
Very good performances from Great Britain so far. That Belarus game was a perfect example of good hockey, shouldn't have been close scorewise. At 4-1 we looked comfortable but then Ehrhardt made that mistake with the tap behind which led to Belarus getting their 2nd goal. Apart from that I couldn't see anything else wrong.
We're up against Sweden today and I'm not expecting result wise, it's going to be a tough game and I see a similar score to the Russia game. We are lucky there's no relegation this year, due to the Divisions below not playing but we've already surpassed our points total from 2019, plus not to mention improvement on results against 2 teams we played, 7-1 against Slovakia 2 years ago and in 2021 we only lose 2-1. Denmark skelped us sill 9-0 in 2019 but this year we took them to OT but lost 3-2. It's progress and I hope we can use this experience to stay up next year when relegation will surely be back.

I wouldn't, been to that Rink once. Not in a hurry to go back, besides, it'd be like the Glasgow Rocks basketball team but only in reverse, Rocks started out as Edinburgh Rocks and then moved to Braehead and becoming Scottish Rocks then moved to Kelvin Hall and became the Glasgow Rocks, now they play at Emirates Arena.

Yep, now the question of what happens with the Arena and Clan begins.

I'd definitely take him as coach, he's done a lot for the sport in this country and has been a successful coach in the league.

Is it not already decided which group we go to then, I was under the impression the winner of our Group went into Slovakia's Group.

I wouldn't quite go that far, we're still a joke. We did the bare minimum to stay up.
You're basically paying £40 to watch a training session

There's bigger money in the NFL and American Football is more popular over here than Ice Hockey

Yeah and one of the runners up were London Knights.
Perhaps there should be 3 European Competitions, with maybe the Federation Cup returning. The winner of that Qualifies for the Continental Cup, or have both the Continental Cup & Federation Cup winners get a spot in the Champions Hockey League but structure both tournaments in such a way that no country that has a guaranteed CHL spot shall gain entry to either the Continental Cup or Federation Cup. Plus teams from Kazakhstan would be banned from entering.
Basically the new format would give nations a chance who might not otherwise have Qualified for the CHL. I just want to see the sport grow across Europe.
Or in another scenario, the CHL scraps the Challenge Leagues thing and instead have a Playoff before the Group Stage with teams from nations which don't get automatic CHL qualification facing off to enter the Group Stage. Yes, it probably is another crazy idea but surely the IIHF could work with Leagues & Teams to make it work. The Qualifiers could replace pre season friendlies. If there's enough teams then why not have 3 Qualifying Rounds. Have a proper Tournament instead of what amounts to nothing more than a closed shop with only a few non Elite teams getting the chance to experience CHL action. At least this way more teams can experience the CHL atmosphere. I'd just love to see a few different teams from new nations in the CHL.

I know I'm late to seeing it but bit of an upset in the Second Round with Ritten being knocked out on home ice.
Ferencvárosi TC, the multi sport club from Hungary won all 3 of their games and will join Nottingham Panthers, Gothiques d'Amiens & SønderjyskE Ishockey in Third Round Group E.
What do you make of this Panthers fans?

In my 3rd tier scenario there'd 3 teams representing each of the 4 countries. Ireland would represent the whole island just as their national team does.
Only question is, what places would you put each team in to make it work?

That was then though, times have changed and the sport here needs to evolve.
Start by getting rid of the American franchise system Have a strict salary cap Minimum number of Imports per team across all leagues Each team must have a Youth set up, ie teams called the same name as the senior side During the season each team would have to give U23 players ice time of at least 30 minutes throughout the season, how teams choose to allocate that would be up to them There will be 1 heritage night where teams would be encouraged to use an old time classic designed jersey with a percentage of revenue from ticket sales going towards the teams designated charity There would also be an FA Cup style competition to replace the Challenge Cup.
Top league of 16 teams playing 30 games. 1 home & 1 away 2nd tier of 12 teams. 1 home & 1 away playing 24 games 3rd tier of 12 teams. Same as above
Then below that a series of leagues based along regional lines, there'd be a playoff amongst the 4 newly created leagues with the winning team being promoted and replsced by the lowest placed team from their own country.
I know these are radical ideas that won't happen and I should punch myself in the jaw for wasting time typing this up but I feel strongly about change for the sport of Ice Hockey in this country.

Perhaps we need a National second tier with Pro/Rel.
Yes, you don't need to tell me how the finances are as I'm fully aware of the lack of it.
If it was made affordable and the format was something like bottom team automatically relegated with the next team above going into a playoff against the 2nd, 3rd & 4th teams in the 2nd tier. Have the Semi's & Final take place during the EIHL Playoff Weekend but rename it BIH Playoffs Weekend.
Add an extra day and start it on Friday
Format could be
Friday 2nd Tier Semi 1 at 2pm EIHL Semi 1 at 7:30pm
Saturday
EIHL Semi 2 at 2:15pm 2nd tier Semi 2 at 6:30pm
Sunday
2nd tier Final at 1pm EIHL Final at 5pm
3 Fantastic days of hockey and it could breathe new life into our game

It's a bit of a weird move at his age. Then again he probably will not play, he's only been signed as a publicity stunt

Have to echo the sentiments regarding Kazakhstan's participation in the Continental Cup.
Although if the IIHF stick with the same fairness then if the team from Kazakhstan wins they'll give the runners up the spot.
One way a Kazakh team should be allowed to compete is if they agree to play their games in Russia, with KHL approval of course. They could use whatever Russian venue is closest to Europe as most of the country is in Asia. Besides, pretty sure I read that those in charge of the CHL wanted KHL teams to take part and would get a bye to the Knockout Stage, not sure how that would work.

So, just saw a video with the ratings of Belfast & Cardiff.
Belfast are 65 and Cardiff are 67
I'm downloading the EA Access 10 hour trial on PS4 but with how poor my Internet seems to be it'll likely be tomorrow before I can test it out

Result of the night has to be unfancied Grenoble, featuring 4 ex EIHL players, including Yann Sauve and Kyle Hardy, beating Skelleftea of the SHL in Sweden. Nearly shut them out too. That is some result! Yeah and the guy who got the GWG was former Clan player, Joël Champagne, delighted for him.

Pathetic from us, we have no divine right to win games but we shouldn't be getting hammered either, 13 goals conceded in just 2 domestic games is laughable.

Has a reason been given for the Green colour? I thought it was in honour of Nottingham's favourite, fictional son, Robin Hood.

Finnerty took the Clan very close to winning the Title but just like his record in the Playoffs he blew it. We even lost to Hull, Hull of all teams.
I thought he was alright

If he works out then great, be scared rest of the EIHL.
I'm just a bit worried but I'm willing to give him time.
