Cant make it tonight but for me the 2 mains things i want to see (other than a win of course) are goals against of 2 or less and some consistent lines.
Ling/Macmillan/Lawrence Farmer/Myers/Clarke Schultz/Bohmbach/Janssen Kolnik/Moran/Lacho or Betterridge
4 dangerous lines than can all score.
Schmit/ Mosey Waugh/ Swindlehurst Oakford giving the others a rest when needed.
Tough job for the D tonight the forwrds are gonna have to be doing a lot of back checking.

I have by enlarge been a reader of thr cage with a sprinkling of posts. I tend to try and stick to facts in the most part rather than getting into opinionated debate. I quite often read comments and think there tends to be huge overeaction & a lot of synical waffle. Suddenly this last few days I find myself joining the club. I've read post after post of people calling for Corey out over a few seasons and always felt it unreasonable. Today I am happy to go on record as being in the Corey out camp. Don't dislike him, appreciate enourmously what he has done at Panthers but I think it looks like his time has come. Been around too long without a plan B. Too many other clubs no how to shut his team down and he doesn't have an answer. I've had my rants on other occasions regarding constant line changing(I thought we were whitnessing a miracle on ice tonight when we rolled the same lines for 2 periods. Then my dreams were ended when he started chopping and changing in the 3rd again) and this is what really gets my goat. We have had a hideous injury record since the GS season and i've tried to allow it to be an excuse but no more. He just refuses to let players build chemistry. If he is going to go at the end of the season he may as well go now for me. At least see if somebody(Adey?) can just ignite this team for the second half and get us back in contention. I doon't see how it changes otherwise for me. Of course I could speculate that Corey is banging NBs door down begging for injury cover but just having the door slammed in his face. If that is the case then I have huge sympathy for him and i'd maybe cut him some slack(still doesnt excuse the line rotation system). This frustrarion could easily filter into the players too. However I do not know what is the truth in regards to this and can only comment on what I see infront of my eyes. So much of what I am seeing can only really be laid at Coreys feet. I truely hope he comes out and rams a huge slice of humble pie down my throat. I want him to be remembered for the great things he's done for the club and the legend he should be. If he does bring the league title then welcome back Corey. Anybody deserves to keep the job if they do that. 2 1/2 seasons of this Lunacy is too much for me(since the GS year, Ive dealt with general Panthers heartache for nearly 20 years). Im exactly the same. Always been a big defender of Corey, wanted him to come back this season, but my patience has snapped. I wouldnt get rid of him mid season, that sloves nothing. But he got to work hard to win my support back now. Just give panthers fans the first line of forwards they deserve! Its funny how in the GS season that approuch actually worked.

Seems playing Wiikman injured has aggregated a minor strain. Rumour has it he'll be out for five to six weeks. Well done to all involved. If this turns out to be true someone needs a slap! Mika clearly hasnt been 100% for 3 or 4 weeks now. We should of had cover in already. P.s. Can someone please tell the Steelers fan that paid a witchdoctor to give us an injury curse after we won the league, thats its not funny anymore. In all seriousness though ive never seen a run of injuries like we've had over the last 3 seasons. Its been ridiculous.

We should never have been playing short for so long. Schultz needed a replacement and we never got one. Wiikman hasn't been right for a few weeks and look what happens. Green isn't up to it, nice guy and all but not a first choice. Not sure what has happened to Lacho, Bombach has been invisible and not sure what Oakford has to do to get some regular shifts. For me, at the end of the season we need to say thank you and goodbye to Corey. He's been fabulous in parts, winning us the league was amazing but we all to often fall short. This season was 1 too many, nice to give him a testimonial but he needs to go now Been an up and down 10 years but we need a fresh start I think Only if we have a recognised coach to replace him. I dont want panthers starting from square 1 again with a rookie coach. I do agree about schultz though. It was obvious he was going to be out for ages and he needed covering.

Panic button officially pushed in my mind now. Im so disappointed in Panthers the last couple of months. No team has a right to win but with the quality of player and depth we have this season we should be forcing teams to have to play well to get points out of us. But we dont! We just switch off for large parts of games and gift teams leads. We constantly give ourselves an uphill battle.
When this team was signed Corey said he had a vision of a team that would pile endless preasure with every line. But you cant do that if we keep switching off and giving up soft goals.
It will take a huge change in form for us to mount a title run now. Before anyone says that we're not that far behind or whatever, just look at our run in! We have so many big teams to play, i just cant see it happening. We should have taken 7-10 more points over the last 2 months than we have, and then i would say it'll still be tough.
Its a real shame to because i think on paper this is one of the best panthers teams we've had in recent years. But it really has come apart at the seems. If Corey is going to prove his worth as a coach nows the time.

We're below a 50% win rate in the last 10 games. Corey needs to do something about this horrible form we have atm. Because i get the feeling we are watching our season go right now. We have a tough run in, and this december could be where we look back and say this is when we lost it.

Wow! Steelers request a review on Wiikman... Only one outcome there, at least DOPS are letting us know by lunchtime tomorrow so we can prepare properly! This review nonsense is getting out of hand. For all teams. Really hope they take it away next season. Dulling down the game imo.

It really saddens me to see some posters on here wanting Stevie Lee to sustain an injury, just because his passing isn't always tape to tape and has coughed up the puck in our zone from time to time. Arguably he's one of best Brit D men in the league, he still gives it 100% game in game out. Show me one Panther on the rosta who doesn't cough up the puck from time to time? I'd like to see you go into the corners and fight for the puck or go to the boards at full speed for a 50/50 puck. Call yourselves Panther fans... Not in my eyes!!! I don't ever want to see any panthers player getting injured but i can totally see the silver lining this time. Lee has been poor this season! Coughing up the puck for time to time is a bit of an understatment. He has been terrible for it this season its been my one huge gripe with him all year. He just doesnt get his head up. He keeps doing this blind back hand pass when hes in the corner and it keeps getting picked off. He did it twice yesterday before he left the game. I hope this stint on the sidelines may be a blessing in disguise and he comes back playing his simple physical game that he used to play. Because your right that on his day he is one of britans best d men... but not right now hes not.

Our failure to put chances away cost us the game tonight, Steelers weren't better than us one single bit, Lacho missed a sitter at the back stick, we hit the cross bar, Kolnik failed to put it away on the PP, we were hooked at the back stick and a penalty was called, at the end a steeler player blocked an open net chance that looked to be a sure goal, we just didn't have the rub of the green, the only issue I could see tonight was the fact that Neilson was switching 2 of our lines constantly, it's no way to create chemistry But hasnt the been the story of the last 2 months? Hitting bars, hair width wide etc, etc... 1 game you call unlucky but over the length of time this has been happening that excuse doesnt wash. There's a common denominator here. We simply dont create enough clear cut chances. Ive seen us camped in the opposition zone so many times recently but we cant make that killer pass. For me there isnt enough moment up front. Just watch the guys off the puck, they're not getting in space and pulling defenders out. Teams are just sitting in their crease and we cant break that down. This is a results based bussiness and our results over the last 2 month speak for themselves. Ive really lost faith in this team.

We need to get back to 4 point weekends we've dropped so many points in the last month. We've blown our whole point lead over the steelers. I think at one point we could have gone 12 points clear of them, we're now on the same points. Must win tomorrow.

Proof that just getting any healthy import on the bench isn't a good thing. To be fair most positons you can get away with it even if they dont set the world alight. Attacking d-men is about the one main exeption because they can actively cost you games if they dont execute properly because if the nature of the role. For the record im not a fan of getting people in for the sake of it unless your carrying a silly amount of injuries.

No. Nothing wrong with the bohmbach hit. Lawrence ones not great but its not anything worth getting worked up over.
I dont like the way this becoming the norm in this country. Every little things gone over with a fine tooth comb and reviews left right and centre. Go watch some old super league tapes. Hits like that every 5 mins and everyone just got on with it.

Schultz and Moran both on the ice today. Hopefully we can get back to full strength soon and try and get some settled lines. This could be one way to go.... Any other ideas? Clarke Moran Kolnik Schultz Bohmbach Janssen Macmillan Lawrence Ling Lacho Myers Farmer Betteridge Schmidt Dimmen Swindlehurst Waugh Mosey Lee Oakford Wiikman Green I would swap Lacho with Clarke just for the fact the Myers and Clarke have great chemistry, then if Lacho doesn't perform give the opportunity to ollie, on that line, with Moran and Kolnik, Lacho SHOULD start to perform totally agree clake should stay with farmer and myers that line has started clicking.

One way to increase his ice time would be to reduces Lee's. I would not be unhappy to see this i think Lee is having a really poor season at the moment.

Hmm i was surprised when i read this but i cans see why its happened. Our form has dipped since Hardy came in. I don't think this is because of Hardy particularly i like a lot of what he does and he looks really nice going forwards some times, but if this results in the rest our d-men tightening up at the back i wont be complaining.

Ok that's it i'm officially pushing the panic button . But in all seriousness i'm starting to become pretty concerned. I know some people will talk about how poor and static our powerplay is (they're right). And that we're not creating enough clear cut shooting chance which i also agree with. But for me there is no doubt where our problems are... the defense. At the start of the season we were averaging 2.00 Goals against. in the last 10 games we have conceeded 40 goals so we're 4.0 goals against... that ridiculous! I'm sorry but a team that has championship hopes just cant be shipping that many goals. I'm not sure exactly why this has happened. Partly i think its because we are opening up at the back because we are always chasing the game! Our complete inability to take the lead in the first period is becoming laughable. and we seem to be losing far too many 50/50 battle behind our own net which is causing all kinds of problems. I don't usually single players out for criticism because i feel that you win and lose as a team but this time i feel it warrants it. Steve Lee: Whats happened son!? I've always been a big fan of Stevie buts he is easily having his worst season for us by some distance. He a complete defensive liability at the moment, hes backing out of 50/50's several times tonight i was like "Stevie what are you doing?! that's your puck go get it!" And can anyone explain to me why he quarter backs power plays? I have a feeling that Wiikman is carrying an injury. Hes just looks off his game to me, he looks slow going sideways and hes been beaten high glove side so many times. Our season could well rest on him finding form again, hope this just a blip because he was brilliant at the start of the season. Panthers need to go om a run of wins now to shake off this slump. Time to earn your wages Corey and Rick.

The problem is DOPS giving bans like this one earlier in the season, this set the precedent, and I think Cardiff are saying you are treating their player more harshly. I said ealier in the season when Mosienko speared Bohmbach in the face that i was concern that the short ban (1 game i think) had set a precedent And that the real test would come later in the season if their was a similar incident. This hit and the Marsh hit are a prime example of that problem. I dont think there was any fans around the league that were really complaining when Marsh got 5. The problem because they have already deal out a far lighter penalty earlier this year theyve put themselves in a no win situation. I worry that Dops is now going to have the opposite effect it was intended to have. Now that the standard has been set, if we asked ourselves from a logical point of view. Is it worth us losing Janssen for 1 game to order to take out Joey Martain for 2 months? Well the answer is of course it is, thats a no brainer. I dont want to see this sort of targeting mentality but if could happen. Because how could they justify increasing ban lengths now without losing all credibility? This is a shame because i was willing to wipe the slate clean from all the seasons gone when Dops was anounced. They could of set a standard of fair and explain punishments for penalties but they let that opportunity slip though thier fingers with some poor desisions earlier this season.

I can't really understand the criticism of Lawrence. He's a reasonable scorer who would be expected to get around 25 goals in a full season. He's very strong on faceoffs and whilst he might not hit hard, he gets his body in front of the net. I don't buy the argument that he's lazy. I think he probably looks lazy because of his skating style and size, but he was often the first forward back on defence for us. I'm sad to see him leave Sheffield, but whilst some of our supporters seem to be spiralling into despair, I understand the reasons for this decision and don't have an issue with it. Regards Doom Its because people in this country love a worker (the whole plucky Brit thing). Jade Galbraith was the same story undountably gifted, but came in unfit and lazy and was largely disliked because of it. Yet scorced the same amount of points as Ling when he went to braehead. Teams are all about balance you need guys who score, guys who graft and guys who make plays. I think people sometimes forget that you cant have guys that do all of that in our league. Because if they did they wouldnt be in our league . Just imagine if Lawrence have Janssens work rate and effort, that would be a hell of a player way out of our price range.

British hockey at its finest I was never one of the Lawrence bashers, he will do a job. Put him on a line with ling and he will give us what we need. As long as he's doesnt cost us goals i'll be happy.

That is a HUGE result! Big points swing, and also a big mental victory over what could be our closest rivals later in the season. This team really is starting to look the real deal, we just always seem to have another gear to go into. Very happy tonight but the weekends only half done. Dont tread on that banana skin tomorrow lads.

Sounds like we just gave ourselves too much to do in the third tonight. We will lose games over the season the key is to make sure its only every now and then. Expecting a good response next saturday when hopefully Hardy will be settled in.

I didnt go the the game so obviously didnt comment on ling's hit before. For me the reply clearly shows a dirty hit. He makes knee on knee contact with a stationary target in a vunerable position. If that was the othet way round our fan base would be calling for Lloyds head. Ive never thought ling was a dirty player, but that one was bad. He'll get a few games, and rightly so imo.
