I'm in Sheffield. To be honest I feel let down that we've shown a complete lack of respect to the tournament. That game was embarassing, Blaze completely mullered us, we were lucky to finish second in the game! I totally understand that the league campaign is a priority, but it is still a trophy after all and I am very disapointed that we didn't take it seriously! I think they may be a few more fans like you jono

Have to agree ... the league title is the priority but it isn't like we are exactly closing in on it with 40 odd games to go. It seems like Corey has started to believe his own and our fans hype and is under the impression that we are in the position to prioritise trophies. If we fall apart in the next few months, we are going to look jolly silly for throwing away a decent chance of a trophy.

Debating if Panthers could have rotated the full team and played younger players with more ice time. After all the Elite had 8 represented teams from around the table. Although he agrees he is arrogant Corey stated he got it wrong.

Fact? Not getting at you tunster but wondering how he might know this? Obviously joking (sorry have not read link) ..... Rather Newcastle going all out I believe they (wisely) used defence in that 1-0 win.

Well by the sounds of it if it wasnt pulled out the hat it might as well have been. I dont get this lack of enthusiasm for the tournament - people want something different, the league put it on, and people dont like it.
yeah, its not the league title, but still its better to win it than not, surely - and better not to get thumped 6 nowt

As much as I did not want the CC when it arrived to replace (eventually) an already exisiting Autumn Cup, (though it was hard then to say so, as we did not do as well as some other teams in it)....I had to accept it in the end as we needed a CUP competition on the books. Then we had a KO cup most knew was a mistake and this one day event is not even a replacement of that either, rather a fun event as stated. If it's classed as just that I am happy though I think Elite will proclaim it a major trophy, which it can't be. Whilst money is of more importance we won't get a good hockey season of Cup, league and Play-Offs. More so a long league, a better Cup this year than previous and a mini PO comp.

If it's true that the Panthers were not at all interested in this tournament I expect there are quite a few people currently in Sheffield who wish they'd have shared details of their lack of interest a few weeks ago. Sounds like a poor way to treat your valued supporters to me.

Not my sister , shes here already... But hell, Corey won't miss any final will he. Can understand if people are a bit peeved that have gone and supported Nottingham. But I said I would not go at that price anyway. This obviously has no bearing on my opinion wether it should have been a tournament in the first place though. People are concerned of how it's turned out.I feel sorry for them if it's been a watered down event on 'our' part more so than Elites.

i didn't go because the venue is uncomfortable and a pit, and also I had no respect for this cobbled together piecemeal funday, but meaningless competition!
I said that before the result so no difference there! 6-0 counts for nothing really 4 points out of four in the cup and league over cov counts a lot more really this season. So long as we have no injuries from this then I am satisfied.
Next week back to proper Hockey!

Top of the league in October - I wasn't aware that you win any trophies for that ... John you are amazingly negative about all things Panthers, is this a new way of supporting your team, or are you lost? Has anyone claimed we win trophies in October, because generally we would not claim anything until we have the trophy in our hands, especially with our record of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!

Personally I'd of been furious if I'd payed £25 plus travel plus food/drink whilst there to watch half a team. I'd imagine the rest of the league wont be too pleased about it, a one day tourny that has the potential in the future to bring in quite a few quid for the EIHL as a whole and I bet Panthers have ensured that next season most of the biggest fanbase in the league wont even consider going to it next season.
Whether were resting for the league or not it's not an excuse to treat paying fans that way.
Wasn't completely sure if I wanted to pay for the league/CC game against Coventry a week on sunday and now I'm positive I wont be, stuff em.

I could not care less about this exhibition show either.. It's just a waste of time in my opinion.
Why not play it at the start of the year as a certain raiser.. The players will all be fresh and people will want to have a look at the new rosters that are put together..
Playing it after 7/8 games into the season with teams having to play 3 times over the weekend, and if they get to the final 5 times in 3 days is a bit much.. Some teams already have a pile of injuries with out having to play this tournament, which is basically Ice hockeys equivalent to Rugby 7's..

I've said it before, I'll say it again. This club doesn't deserve the support we give them sometimes. We've come home early because the Panthers have left us feeling really annoyed. It doesn't matter to me that this is a relatively minor competition, the people that forked out a lot of money to support the team today didn't deserve to be treated with such contempt. The Panthers should be ashamed of themselves.

Hey ho 6-0 But now its out of the way. The guys can take a day or 2 off and regroup for the Hull game on Saturday a win which will see us through to the CC semis and retain top spot in the laegue. We never liked the KOC, I guess we now dont like 20-20 Hockeyfest Would like to see Vipers win it because Ive been impressed with them all season HL A couple of days off? Are you kidding. The only couple of days off after that should be unpaid. It's ok saying hey ho but if Panthers are willing to just ignore the significance of a tournament when hundreds of fans have paid money to get there and get in then what else are they going to play in half arsed? CC? PO's? Will certainly make me think twice before forking out for any cup games

Totally agree,.. disrespect shown to the tournament, the league, the other competing teams,.. but most of all,.. the hundreds of panthers fans in attendance. Leaves a very bitter taste to see us perform like that in any competition,.. wether we choose to shortbench ourselves or not. I went to support my team,. but it seems that they weren't bothered wether I did or not as they had already decided not to play. Very, very unhappy.

I wonder how widespread support was for this tournament among the various team owners, and not the 'as published by EIHL propaganda'? It just seems the timing of it wasn't exactly well thought out. As for the actual tournament, although thise Panthers fans who went won't feel the same I'm glad that Neilson rested some of the better players today, and anyone who had listened to his interview on the radio would have no doubt read between the lines and understood that was exactly what he was doing. This tournament was never important to the Panthers. When Steelers fans taunt about what have we won recently they aren't talking about Mickey Mouse cups, its always league and play-offs and that is what we should be concentrating on.

another question...
If you didnt want to take this seriously...WHY...go to the expense of bringing Molin over to play in it..
Save money and play more of your kids......It IS an EIHL competition
