Oh dear.
Firstly let's not take anything away from the Capitals. They came into our building with a road game plan and executed it perfectly. Their marking was exceptional, they battled for every puck, forced our players into mistakes, committing penalties and moving the puck away from their net. They frustrated us fantastically well, kept the home fans quiet and wouldn't give us the time on the puck that we seemed to want. A very well done to them, it's very good to see a competative Edinburgh Capitals this season. On the basis of the three performances they've put up against us so far I think they'll make it into the playoffs.
As for us, I have to say I'm a little stunned. What happened? Where was the cohesion? The speed? The will? That's not what I've become used to in the Mike Ellis era and it was a huge disappointment. We wanted too much time on the puck and Edinburgh simply wouldn't give it too us, as the game wore it seemed as if the players were resigned to defeat and looked as if they'd given up other than a little late flurry. Our goal was one of the few highlights of a massively frustrating and bitterly disappointing evening.
We simply have to do much better against the Phoenix tommorow night.

Quite frankly I was bored out my brains tonight. I could have quite easily left after the first period but I've never done and hope I never do. Appeared same can't be bothered attitude that I felt we had in Rouen. Counting Rouen that's five losses in a row now. No point getting personal because they were all as bad as the next.

Got to agree with you CHRI5. After a great start to the season, tonight was embarasing. No disrespect to the Caps. But we were no better than a very poor steelers team. NOT HAPPY TONIGHT Lets hope wednesday brings back the Panthers team that want to WIN again. Rant over Roy You just can't help yourselves can you........

I think the panthers had given up as soon as that second goal went in. They didn't look awake, they didn't look bothered and they didn't look like the winners and fighters they have all season. All in all a bad game. BUT at the end of the day, we had to lose one (in regulation time) at some point! I think out of them all Corey had the biggest shocker of a game, he looked drained and exhausted and like he didn't want to be there. Evan lindsey had a great game, there were a few interesting moments but all in all he did really well. If my hat comes off to anyone, its got to be the netminder for the Caps, top performance. Lets just hope panthers can pick it up for tomorrows game in sheffield!

what a load of rubish. You would think after not winning abroad they would want to come back home and show some enthusiasn but nothing of the sort. Corey Neilson had a shocker and i feel that Even should of got man of the match he has a amazin game especially when it was 5 on 3.
Well i hope they pick it up for tomorrow night especially with Belfast winning tonight.

His groin popped. I say popped cos we heard it!! :X
Caps are playing very smart this year, they work out a plan and stick to it. They will be nobodys mugs this term I assure you. A team packed with Europeans who will in most cases be far better skaters than North Americans/Canadians they each do their jobs and stick at it. I saw the same last week at our place but I bet they played a totaly different game down your way, European teams have always been good at playing a game plan.

I thought we looked very ordinary tonight. They had our number from the word go,they stifled our attack, defended very well, weren`t intimidated by our bigger, tougher team and played a cracking road game.
I hope we pick it up for tomorrow onwards! What we don`t want is to have a slump as we approach the games with our nearest and dearest.
However,it`s our first loss at home to a team who I feel will upset many a teams apple cart this season.
Let`s learn from it and take our frustrations out on Manchester tomorrow!!

Sounds like my beloved Capitals played a great game down at the NIC. A classic road trip strategy and we'll take the 2 points. That's us won in Nottingham AND in Sheffield in the space of a week. A Steeler said we had no stars and they went into a 12 page rant as to how the mighty Steelers could lose to the Capitals. I think tonights result shows we are a match for anyone on any given night and that Jason Silverthorn has been a great addition to our team.

You can't blame the referee. He made some perplexing decisions (to say the very least) and seemed to have forgotten about zero tollerance but at the end of it all we didn't show up and let the Capitals go about their buisness very effectively.

Sorry, but if we have any serious pretensions of winning the league this season, then a home win against the Caps should be a no-brainer.
I know that people are saying they are a fast skating, European style, ZT sort of team, blah, blah but that just doesn't hack it. At home these should be banker points to any team that wants to win anything.
Another Continental Cup hangover? Personally, I would rather have a shot at winning our league comapred to going into a competition that we never qulaified for in the first place!

Obviously someone who does not understand the game at all, I thought you played an outstanding game last week. I can never understand the reluctance to admit such things, personally I can be desperately disappointed at my teams result, whilst retaining the ability to see the game for what it was, most times anyway . Don't get me wrong, there are times when you come out thinking "How the hell did we lose to that team" last week however was not one of these occasions.
