loving Blackadder goes forth! All the Blackadder series are good, the last episode of Blackadder goes Forth though, I am thinking of the over the top scene at the very end, really is thought provoking. My Great Granddad was killed at Passchendale, all them lives lost, only for them to go and do it all over again in 1939.

watching Wallander with Branagh pretty good, Theroux in philly last week scary in joburg tonight recording on sky+ as we speak, also Top Gear excellent and enjoying Lipstick Jungle yet more soft porn in the Sex in the City genre D, although i think both very witty scripts same writers work! / Theroux in joburg was an eye opener, vigilantes rule the streets of joburg and its shanty towns and it is all accepted as normal life!
also Spooks been good 8/8 tomorrow though, and Heroes just goes from strength to strength so many twists and turns with the plots!

Sorry to cross post Phil, Jo'burg was a fantastic cosmopolitan city in the late eighties, rich on gold, diamonds and an upcoming IT boom. Was last there in 2005, will be there again for the World Cup (boy thats going to be interesting) am not looking forward to it one little bit. My cousin lives on a gated community (for safety) armed guards shoot and kill on sight anyone trying to go over or under the fence, while black and white alike braai on their decks unaware. We have class divisions here but RSA really is another world.

We've got family in Durban who used to live in Johannesburg. They moved (with no little difficulty) a few years ago out of pure fear. For such a supposedly civilised country, it's about as dangerous as you can get.

yeah i watched it lee, im getting a bit frustrated with 24 as it follows a very simplistic and predictable formula, but as a season opener it was great. shame about the prequel to the series, redemption, which was 90 minutes of jack being jack. usually that would be awesome, but it all felt overly contrived to show him being sensetive. i think sky have done 8am-10am so far. seeing as i am the only person in here that recommends new tv shows, have any of you seen a show called The Beast? i have only seen one episode and its been pretty impressive so far. it revolves around the main character who is an undercover expert agent in the FBI (played by none other than patrick swayze) who takes on a new apprentice. its hinted at that he is a dirty agent and has blurred the lines of what is good and bad. really enjoyable and swayze is quite convincing as the miserable mentor, though the only issue i have is the other lead, swayze's protege (sp?) who seems like an annoying version of leonardo decarprio (yeah, leo's annoying, so imagine how bad this guy is). the show has got other stars in it, like sticky fingaz and larry gilliard jr (d'angelo barksdale from the wire) though the best bit about the first episode was patrick swayze shooting an RPG out of a window. awesome. edit heres the imdb link... www.imdb.com/title/tt1103968/

Buster 24 has a winning format why would they change it, if it aint broke etc! yeah i know what you are saying but even from the first season ive been able to spot a mile off who was on side and who was a double agent, that sort of thing. half the fun of the show is either being surprised by the 'twists' or trying to guess them. it gets a bit boring when you figure them out all the time. i guess i just watch too much tv. i gave up with lost midway through the 3rd season when the show hit a lull. i heard it returned to greatness, but im that behind now that i doubt i'll pick it up.

yeah, i know its not aimed at me, it doesnt have to be. it doesnt change the fact that you have harped on at me before about how the arts have been subjective (and in the music thread, you say you like everyone and if you like it you like it) and now you are slating someone for having a view. myself? well, im overly arrogant and know that the arts are subjective, but i always give iff the impression that anyone who disagrees with me is beneath me

I gave up on Lost after the first episode. Same with Heroes. I've no inclination to have another go either. And 24; they're on series 7?! Have they managed in any of the previous 6 to get enough storyline to actually fill the 24 episodes? I watched 1 and 2, and in both got the feeling they were desperately playing for time towards the end.

I.e. Lost! You must get bored sometimes that can be your only excuse Buster!
