It's a cracking film! I like Christian Bale though, the Machinist and The Prestige are two of my favourite films.
On an earlier point though, I never really got all the hype about the West Wing. I just found it a bit dull. The Green Wing on the other hand is ace =P

Oh my good God. Will Buster and Oldman please go sit it out ina pen box for 10 mins. Please stop ruining threads with petty bickering! So back on topic - how bad does Disaster Movie look? I'll be giving it the widest of wide berths. Is there anything decent on at all at the moment? Or are we now in that gap between summer blockbusters and Xmas films where nothing really happens

It certainly was very silly, i dunno what it was it just wasn't that funny, and it was alot cruder than other ferrel comedies i've seen, (not seen them all so can't comment on anchorman for example) I hope that clears it up for you! (Don't worry i corrected your spelling mistakes)

Today, I saw 'The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas'. The most accessible, innocent and yet captivating concentration-camp film I've ever seen. The end is truly upsetting & depressing, & not an ending I saw coming. It's a film a lot of people should see. To see the innocence of a child, taken twisted - children are born innocent, & we as human(?) beings teach our younger ones to hate. A simple - yet powerful film.

Got to see 'Eden Lake' today (Making full use of my Unlimited card..whilst signed off sick!)
This film was a real tense thriller..several times I was quite disturbed at how 'real' it seemed, & at times it was a struggle to not turn away from the screen. It's not so much what you see, it's the feeling & tension of what you MIGHT see. Several times I found myself thinking 'Oh god no...I know what's gonna happen next & I aint looking forward to it'. You do kind of end up caring for the 2 lead characters, & the other half of you will probably want to kick the crap out of the 'hoodies' that terrorise them. A film that can bring this amount of intensity from within is a great feature of the film, & those concerned with creating it should be congratulated. However, the film is not without it's faults. The continuity of this film loses it points. One minute the poor woman is in agony after getting a spike through her foot & is crippled...next minute she sprinting through the forest desperate to escape! Also, one minute she's filthy dirty, & the next she's almost sparkly clean! The other thing... although they apparently 'loved it'...I couldn't help thinking what a crap & stupid place to go camping!

Seeing as we have a Music Thread, I thought it may be nice to have an 'official' Film Thread. Moddies sticky? Anyway, just to get the ball rolling, I just found THIS trailer. Not yet out in the USA, but i am already looking forward to seeing it here. Anyone seen 'The Orphanage' yet? Hoping to see that this weekend. Well...alllllll the way back in March, as you'll see from that link - I was looking forward to seeing 'Tropic Thunder'. Finally got to see it today. Not for a long time have I looked so forward to a film, & been so dissapointed. This film when I 1st heard about it months ago SEEMED to tick all the boxes in what I look for in a film (Great action, great comedy, & a great cast). It delivers on about 1.75 outta a possible 3.0 on that score. There's no denying it has a great cast...with some good cameo appearances (Tom Cruise steals the film in my book), & the action is non TOO shabby...but a comedy & funny this certainly isn't. Don't go & see this & expect a laugh a minute...you'll struggle to get a single laugh per whole film. The whole film is kind of rushed & jumbled...& just doesn't feel right/or have the right vibe about it.

Went to see Pineapple express, i thought it was pretty funny. If you like superbad, 40 yrd virgin, american pie etc you will defo like this. James Franco (the young green goblin in spiderman) is excellent in this as a stoner/drug dealer. 8/10

I've recently watched 3 films on DVD and was pleasantly surprised by all of them, this could be in part to having low/no expectations when I sat down to watch them but I'd definitely recommend you give them a watch if you haven't seen them yet.
Lucky Number Slevin I thought this was a pretty good film. I'm not surprised it didn't win any Oscars but I thought the plot was pretty good. It took me quite a while to figure out what was going on but I did figure it out just before they spelt it out for me.
Revolver I know the critics panned it and it didn't go down too well at the box office either, I also know it's not that fashionable to like Guy Ritchy these days but I don't care, I quite liked it. From what I've seen, most critics didn't like it because they thought the plot was too complex and confusing. Well in that case I reckon they're all a bit too easy to confuse. Yes it's an involved plot that shifted direction a few times, but I thought that was a good thing and it's not THAT hard to follow, I spotted the main twist (there are many smaller twists throughout) in this one long before it was revealed. I'm definitely going to watch this again before sending the DVD back.
Rambo Yes it was a bit cheesy, but nowhere near as cheesy as I expected. Some of the violence and gunshot wounds are pretty graphic, reminded me of the beach landing in Saving Private Ryan. If you want a thought provoking intellectual work of art then it's not for you, but as cheesy action war films go though I thought it was pretty impressive.
