Dont want to burst your bubble but your opinion is your opinion, which doesn't make it the right opinion but only your opinion! That is in my opinion though Rich! ;D I said what would happen and it did. You said at the time give the guy a chance etc etc and if werent for people saying give him time we might have got somebody who actually played their position Of course, thats my opinion ;D! Also the opinion of a lot of guys whove played the game though

I'm sorry to see Pelts go, not the most sensible D but he always played with passion and was fun to watch. I understand it's probably better for the team he's gone. I'll never forget that first goal against Blaze when he went and banged with both fists on the plexi glass.

or on the other hand Teddy could have all the skill in the world but give 60% efffort at best. Simoes another fans favourite because he looked like he wanted to win and would bust a gut to do it! One reason that i like Mark coming back as well! Different strokes etc I think Pelts gave everything on the ice every shift, i also think PC at times was collecting the paycheck for very little on some shifts, as was Macca, Robert, Nelson, Coleman, and at times Molin! So, by that theory you were happier with Pelletiers defence than Nelsons because "he put more effort in"? Pelts was here for the women and the beer like most other imports. People saying he was a true professional who did everything 100% are dilluded. I'm not sure if I am supposed to be diluted or deluded?? ;D

did not know there was time limits on discussions Jay seeing as people keep bringing up the last fifty years let alone last season!
I know he is the past but still split the camp a bit, some prefer a worker who could be tactically naive but gave 100% against a more talented guy who showboats and maybe when the going got tough goes missing and gives at best 60%, and some would go for the talented guy?
Pelts is just the vehicle for this difference in preference amongst the fans to be discussed in my honest view, and up to now has been a well mannered and interesting debate, also no doubt this year we will have new examples of these two types of players!
Therefore this discussion is really as relevent as the fighters versus style debate for our team!

The thing is though Oldman, a lot of the guys who didnt want to see the guy back love grafters and hard workers. Thats not the issue, it isnt "work rate vs natural ability", its a guy making the same mistake over and over and not working hard enough to put right the problems he was having.
Evan Lindsay worked hard, I dont want him back though either...

As you say though Rich but if you check this thread a lot of guys disagree with your assessment of him! See i like guys who show some passion on the ice, when we were under the cosh in the final at our place, Pelts was the one that got the crowd going again, and this must have helped the team survive that final few minutes, and TBF a lot of guys said Bergin was a joke when he got here as well, they were wrong about that!
I am not saying i want pelts back i got involved in this because i felt a lot of people were making comments about him that were unfair in comparison to what i saw on the ice! IMHO!

I really think this thread should be closed now though or moved to talk hockey. Theres no 'rumour' been mentioned for ages and basically its arguements all the way through.

as this has been a very interesting discussion, if you call that an agument you must have sheltered lives!
It is no longer about pelts but about types of guys the fans rate on the ice, artisans or craftsmen if you like!

It is no longer about pelts but about types of guys the fans rate on the ice, artisans or craftsmen if you like! I don't see why it has to be either/or. I don't want to watch a skilled player who doesn't put enough effort in and neither do I want to watch someone put 100% effort into being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I want to see players who know what they're doing, can do it and put the effort in. If they don't tick all those boxes then I'm happy to see them replaced. Yes, that means I'm happy we've not re-signed Pelts - I see little point in a defender that's regularly much too deep in the offensive zone when he needs to be in the neutral zone. Not only did it harm our D but it harmed our offence too with players like Molin being forced to drop back to cover when they should be waiting for a pass from the likes of Wallenberg.

My sentiments too Doughnut (Rob, not sure if doughnut is a particularly nice reference anyway!!!) , stayed out of this pelletier debate but am erring on the side of Rich in this... caught out of position too many times to be considered a reliable d man imho...
As for the man himself, he did give what he had for the cause and for that i applaud him and hope him well in his future wherever that may end up being (unless of course it is sheffield but we can but hope!!). He did sign quite late for us last season, is this his habit and does anyone have any idea where he might be playing next season?...

Hard work to me means working tirelessly in the week during training etc to improve, not diving pointlessly at pucks and wandering into the wrong position

Agree entirely with Doughnut and Rich. If you prefer enthusiasm to talent and discipline you'd probably get more value out of the non-professional game.

And Pelts did play a full season. He was our last pre-season signing last season.
