The Patriots will be punished and deservedly so for their actions. I don't however agree with this notion that it tarnishes their superbowl victories one iota, nor the stupid belief that the records should be marked with an *
The only people that will continually bring this up, will be people who don't like the team. I say again, Wenger tapped up Anelka while at PSG and no one even bats an eye lid reference this. The Pats, Belichek & Spygate will be odd news when the next "scandal" comes around.

Obviously they are not going to put an * there but every team who has lost a big game v them is now wondering. It's why the Olympics strip athletes of previous medals won if someone fails a drug test. It leaves a question mark. Rams fans now feel they may know how the Pats stopped their mighty O in the Bowl.
It seems like they've been cheating for years. They aren't the only cheats, but they were daft enough to get caught. What would happen to Arsenal if they admitted they'd bugged opposing dressing rooms? They would be docked points or thrown out of the Champs League.
It tarnishes their past and always will. Just like people still talk about DEN breaking the cap with Elway. Mud sticks and opposing fans ill always sling it at the Pats. That is why the Pats fans are so angry.
Barry Bonds knows how it feels and he has never even beeen found guilty.

Meh, that's for other fans & pundits to do. It doesn't concern me one bit, probably in the same way that Chelsea fans don't care when ManYoo fans bitch that the only reason for Chelsea's success is down to the rubles in Roman's bank account.
Belichek is a jerk & the Patriots are dumb for getting caught. Having said that, the allegations for that's what they are, go back to 2005 which therefore doesn't tarnish the wins of 2001, 2003 & 2004 in way what so ever, unless one wants to go on rumour and innuendo and in my job, I have to prove stuff.
As for the Jets game, I saw Randy Moss score a TD with 3 Jets players on him. Go figure.

The cheating would have had little to no eefect on the game. The allegations go back years as Mangini claims he was in on it when he was there. That's why it was so dumb to do it v Mangini's Jets.
Not that I think the Pats won via cheating. Or at least, probably not.
Mud sticks though. Ask Lance Armstrong and Murali. And they aren't guilty.

What's happening on the field has now been completely overshadowed. The story has now overtaken the Vick story in the NFL.
Goodell has launched a full investigation wanting everything from the Pats dating back to 2000.
As I was saying to my Pats supporting mate....
Towards the end of last night’s game the NBC sideline reporter reported that NYJets are considering asking Goodell to launch an investigation into last week’s game. it seems that they are indications that the Cheats were using a radio frequency illegally.
It goes like this...
Some Cheeters D linemen were wired for sound in the helmets.
Next to the camera guy was another guy recording this
This was to pick up the Jets Offence playcalls.
Of course we have the Colts rumour too that they were filming Peyton’s calls from the endzone.
If all this is true and they get busted for continual cheating then Terrell Davis is right.. they have to be banned from the post-season this year. No way can they be allowed to cheat their way to a Super Bowl again.
It’s all become rather seedy and sad now. Bit like steroids in sports.

" No way can they be allowed to cheat their way to a Super Bowl again." Prove it. Did I not say... 'if all this is true'? And they've already been punished for cheating. And that's what the NFL is currently trying to do. This is taking a life of its own now with opinion hardening on a daily basis. More significant are the rumours coming from the Jets and Indy. Bill Polian is like a rabid dog when it comes to protecting the Colts. If the allegations are proven then it'll no longer matter what Goodell does....

Yeah I came up with it last week. Then various papers in the States put it on their front page. So popular was it that you can Google the word now. Hell, I even have my own website... www.belicheat.com/Try this to get an idea of the topic you are discussing...

When a team is succesful, they're there to be shot at...just look at Maclaren. What I dislike is that there are plenty of people trying making out like no other NFL team has ever been found guilty of an indiscretion. It would seem that 'cheating' occurs more than we realise. Just one example... tinyurl.com/3yeg7l

Right now there seems to be 30 teams all of a muchness and two on a different level.

Grossman dropped by the Bears, and he isn't happy about it but was rather diplomatic on Total access.

You're right sunny, we'll likely score 35 against the Pats and concede 40+, our offense can tear it up as well as pretty much any in the NFL, sadly the D isn't going to allow us to go far this year.

I'm not sure you'd score that even with Rudi. Without him and no running game... I dread to think what they'll do to you. Damn shame as you could have been a test. Instead I'll keep a CFB game back for Tues evening.

That was probably a little ambitious, in my head I was saying we'll score 35 most of the time but that's not what showed up on the screen! Sorry. I'm not a Rudi fan sunny to be honest. It drives me up the wall as he seems to have nothing other than a run up the middle into the line, he's poor at picking the gaps and tends to gain low yardage at best. I can't remember the last time he really put a game together where he tore someone apart. Chris Perry on the DL is really hurting us, I rate him far higher. Our running game is fair at best, I'm hopeful of the space finding skills of Chad and Housh, we're really going to miss Chris Henry though.

I think that the Pats will come a cropper against the Cowboys in, I think, Week 6. Agree that the Bengals will be no proper match. Carson Palmer looked ropey to me last week and Chad and Houshmanzadeh can only make yardage if they get the ball. The guy who is impressing me is Romo and I can only see him getting better and better. As for Grossman, what took them so long? Until they get a quarterback, the Bears will be nearly men.

Thoughts on the season so far? I wish the Rams and the Dolphins would win a few games ;D Really looking forward to the Pats - Colts game. I really need Travis Henry to keep fighting the year ban for Fantasy reasons I love the Sky triple headers The Bengals D really does suck. Marvin Lewis should be ashamed The AFC is again the powerhouse. Doh Didn't think Adrian Peterson would be that good. (Early I know) Didn't think Brees would be that bad (last 3 years a 2.5-1 TD-INT ratio.. This year it's 1TD per 3INT and 65.8 QB rating ) Right now I want a Pats - Green Bay bowl (But I reserve the right to change my mind )

Here's something I posted elsewhere......
I’ve probably got the projections of the teams all wrong but here goes with a mini-mock:
1 – ATL – They need a QB but don’t want to spend the huge $ on a #1 QB. Still, has to be done as they need to fill the seats now that Vick is gone. They go to the state of Kentucky and snap up.... Andre Woodson!
2 – MIA – Miami can’t stop the run. Glenn Dorsey is a beast of a DT who never stops going.
3 – StL – Dorsey would have been a great fit for the Rams. DE Calais Campbell is possibly the best player in the draft and so StL pick him up. I hope they don’t try to convert him into a DT!
4 – CIN – Who’d have thought Cincy could fall so low? Kenny Phillips fills a need at Safety.
5 – JETS – Keith Rivers will be an elite OLB for Mangini’s 3-4 D.
6 – KC – If Brodie Croyle is the answer then someone needs to change the question. No way can the Chiefs let Brian Brohm pass them by.
7 – BUF – The 3rd AFC East team is on the clock. The Bills are only down here because of terrible injuries and so choose to look for the BPA. They don’t need a RB so pick Jake Long who is the perfect guy to help protect Trent Edwards.
8 – HOU – finally the Texans can give their QB some protection. Sam Baker is a mobile Tackle.
9 – OAK – No way will Al Davis say no to Darren McFadden. McFadden will be the lightning to Michael Bush’s thunder. Jordan and Fargas can be traded away if they haven’t already.
10 – CHI – Boston College’s Matt Ryan is just the guy to solve the Bears’ QB traumas.
15 – NEP – The Patriots finally draft a LB. Dan Connor has the smarts to play in Belichick’s versatile schemes.
Neves - I know Brohm would be the pick since Petrino knows him so well.

I think we end up with the 4th or 5th pick It seems easy for us to choose Brohm but right now I'm leaning towards Ryan or because we need O line help maybe Jake Long. The QB draft is deep(ish) this year and with our 2 twos we may be able to jump back up to lower 1st for a QB, or take a QB first and then try to move up to take a guy like Clady. BUT..We do need QB and LT with our first two picks IMHO, but we also badly need safety, linebacker, DT, RB and more OT help as well However not wanting to place the race card... A black QB will put bums on seats down Atlanta way so Woodson could be the choice if it's a close call between (what I'm calling at the moment) the big 3. I think Miami gets the number 1 pick and while I totally agree about Dorset, part of me thinks that they may WANT to try and make up for not drafting Quinn by taking a QB Not sure about Houston they do need to upgrade their O line but they have 4 new starters on the line this year (only know that because I'm following Matt Schaub) and have cut down to below 2 sacks a game and are 6th in passing. Can they keep that going and is it a result of Carr not being there anymore? Personally I think that they need help at RB (last in yards per carry) but they signed Green (who I think is past it) to 4 years so who knows Can't wait til April. I guess that's what all 1-5 teams say ;D Cheers
