I'm told Askey is one of the biggest earners in the team (and worth every penny IMHO) and on considerably more than Rasto was so all this "saving money" isn't quite true. He must be on alot then....

He is a career AHLer compared to a East European who has spent most of his career in his home league and sometimes not even in the top league. I'm just saying that is isn't as simple as simply saving the Drouin money and then spending it on some superstar. Askey is taking up quite a chuck of the Drouin savings I'm told.

Yea but he came in some time after PC left.

I reckon with Askey Sureing us up at the back. Ellis might change his mind and go for a 'game breaker', the sort of player who would have got us the winner against Sheffield? Just a thought? Maybe this isn't the last change we'll see this season. I can read Mike like a book. LOL

And our new D-man is...... .... a forward (I hope). I think we've shown that we're in more need of a top forward than a top dman. I'm not optimistic about it all though. I was with you pantherdman.

I am well aware of their relative histories but was also given the impression Rasto was earning a good living. Not saying Askey isnt on more, just saying he must be well paid if its above Rastos wage. I have absolutely no idea how much Tom earns

Does it really matter what the guys are being paid? It is nothing to do with us ! They are winning games. THAT is what should matter to us. Roy

I was with you pantherdman. Do you want a medal Go on then. Seriously, why do you bother sometimes? You can see the two posts are in a similar vein and yet you choose to try and cut mine down. It's really sad and pathetic.

Roy In the context of who our new player'll be, and speculation on that point, it matters to the extent of knowing what sort of money we've got to offer. That's the only reason it's been mentioned here surely.

Its not like anyone has said any figures...

as we may not be getting a dman should we dispense with this thread and start another? how dare you be that logical! to be fair, ellis has changed his mind enough times recently (well since we got rid of PC) that its fair enough thinking we're gonna get a dman!

Especially with mcaslan bagging a couple last night. Ellis will propbably want a defenceman now.

We're back to .500 hockey (0.563 if you're going to get pedantic over the point we got for the penalties loss to Steelers)

and therein lies the rub doughnut, beginning, middle or end of the season, 0.5 hockey does not win you trophies... and the results since xmas have killed off any chance we had of winning that elusive trophy, the league....

How long does it take to get someone signed? I'm happy to give him time to have a look, but this is ridiculous now. The lack of that extra import may well have cost us a realistic shot at the league.

well he doesn't want to sign someone that is going to play good with one sets of players and then come here and play rubbish with our set of players. Also if you think about it, ellis is coaching, playing and scouting for this player all at the same time.

Also if you think about it, ellis is coaching, playing and scouting for this player all at the same time. I just want to know why we cut Drouin without a replacement signed for him? Surely (unless he was a major drain on the dressing room togetherness, which i can't comment on) it defeats the purpose? If he hadn't cut Drouin, he could have put more effort into his scouting.
