You do not any wage cap exemptions for being assistant coach, fitness coach etc etc. Dave Simms confirmed this on Steelbleat earlier in the season.

Posted 3/1/2008: Dave MacIsaac (D) From Asiago Hockey AS to St. Georges Express (LNAH) Status: Confirmed Well, if MacIsaac genuinely made the choice of returning to the 8-team Quebec Bush League, where the average Penalty Minutes are currently running at 90+ per game, instead of joining the Panthers, it doesn't say a great deal for the EIHL's reputation, does it? The money they pay in that league is twice as good as what he could earn here. That may have something to do with it. You get players who leave the AHL to go play in Quebec because they can earn more money. The skill level is also better in the LNAH than it is over here.

However, IMHO it's still a Bush League!

Yep Cloutier is captain but has been injured. The LNAH is a bush league to be honest but as Zukiwskyfan said, the hockey when they play is every bit as skillfull as our league. Remember guys like Drouin, Mcintyre, Charron etc all had good stints in that league. I have been told by a couple of people we are signing the guy next week but then iv also been told Mcisaac was the guy and he U-turned so who knows

Isn't the LNAH one of America's so called 'fighting leagues?'

The LNAH is a old time hockey league in Quebec. No ZT, No Euros and every team dresses 3-5 out and out tough guys every game. Each team has 3 skill lines and then have a fourth line that is a fight line that comes out and puts on a show to keep the fans happy. When the skill lines lines are out the game is played how the game should be played, fast, hard hitting in your face hockey. The skill level is about on par with the ECHL and our old Superleague. The money they pay in the league is very good and players earn bonuses for fighting majors. The teams play in very old ice rinks that hold inbetween 2500 and 5000 fans. The fans are always very bloodthirsty and vocal. The tickets are $12 a game. I have been to 4 live LNAH games and you are always gauranteed a great nights entertainment.
A few LNAH clips
A little fun in warm ups

MacIsaac played his first game for St. Georges last night and had a fight with Brandon Sugden 3 seconds into the game.

Haha going after the best! Makes me wonder just how close we were to signing him.
An experienced NHL/AHLer who has played in the LNAH, fights, goes after Sugar, has euro experience, is considered stay home.... he wudnt be considered a good D man by many though because he doesnt wear a chain

Would we not be better off bringing in a 'Gamebreaker' with some of the forwards who have been released lately have put up good numbers in the states and round europe. one example been www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=42316Then take one of the good young british defencemen as the 5th d man someone along the lines of Phillips from Hull or O'Connor at Edinghburgh just a thought but it's worked quite well with Danny Meyers

My previous assessment of the LNAH as a Bush League was obviously way off tack then! If we're still looking for someone in the MacIsaac mould, what are the Hanson's doing these days?

Have you seen him play? Just because he wanted to settle an old score doesnt make him a goon. For the rest of the 55mins of the game I bet he played alot better defensive hockey than alot of guys over here ever could. MP: I cudnt help noticing the irony when I read that aswell! Maybe its him after all!

The point is our D is still the weakpoint. We have Gamebreakers in Molin,Mcaslan,Wally. We have a true sniper in Bergin, a power forward who has got us back into 2 big games recently in Shmyr and Brits who can have a genuine inpact in Myers and Richardson. Compare that to the fact we have one reliable D man in Neilson and I think its fair to say the need for a D man is greater

Based on what Zukiwskyfan posted earlier in the thread Rich, it may have been less about settling an old score, and more about lining himself up some very lucrative bonuses for fighting the acknowledged hard men of this league!

Either way, cant fault him Id be happy if he came in for us and went with Clouthier/Cornish/Payette after 3secs! The hockey point still stands though

Eric Charron is currently playing for...... St Hyacinthe Top Design in the LNAH Yes, there is such a team - I wonder what their kit is like..... Also on the roster is Bryan Richardson (London Knights) Mike Lanshear (Manchester & Newcastle) Ian McIntyre (Cardiff & London) Sadly the shirt is not in the Hyacinth Bucket style.

And our new D-man is......
.... a forward (I hope). I think we've shown that we're in more need of a top forward than a top dman. I'm not optimistic about it all though.
