Mark Smith, PC Drouin and Sean Mcaslan? Can't see anytime in the EIHL being able to afford all three. Can't see Murphy wanting to be a back-up - will do his career wonders! Why??? Remember only half of Drouins wage counts against the cap. Anyways, we are signing a very good forward from a EIHL team. According to 2 independant sources.

The longer we dont hear anything the more I feel Clarkie will be back with us hope im right, otherwise I fear a basic 2 line hockey at panthers with a notional 3rd line. However if that is the case Ferrera and cooke did ok as a grinding line taking a bit out of the legs of other teams.

I actually quite like the idea of Murphy coming in as back up and don't think it's as ridiculous as people seem to be suggesting.
With Rasto getting on a bit I'm not sure he will play every game like other import goalies (I'm not saying he couldn't but I'm trying to work through this here) which would need a more solid Brit goalie in there so why not be the only team in the league with a decent tandem and get Murphy in there who can also learn from Rasto? Seems like that could be a winner all round if they were to both get enough games.

Woolhouse would be better off going to Bracknall on a two way deal , this would give him ice time and the chance to come back to cover , if any injuries to Rasto or new back up ?. I think he would be on better pay at Bracknall than scims .

Myers to return as he has a job in Nottingham. Would take him back Petricko to return. No thanks Mark Smith a done deal. I hope he does come to panthers would be good. McAslan to return unless he gets a better offer from Europe. Not fussed if he didn't if we had smith and pc Stephen Murphy to come in as back up to Rasto. dont care about this as long as we have a back up Rod Stevens staying in North America. Why sign someone like Stevens when you can sign Payette for the same money Clarke still deciding on a move to Austria Hope he signs as we need a good brit pack Woolhouse to the Scimitars Dont care

Player Team Pld G A Pts PP SH PIM Rod Stevens Nottingham 58 21 37 58 10 1 58 Andre Payette Newcastle 59 19 21 40 11 0 346
More goals, more assists, more points, less PIM, less likely to get suspended. Just 5 reasons why I'd rather have Stevens.

hes a fan of fighting thats why, must admit i like the physical side but Payette is a player i dont want on our roster. would like Shmyr and maybe a Craighead type player who primarily plays but when its needed can fight with the best of em

payette would cost games for a team like ours with the penalties he racked up last year

Contrary to popular belief, Petricko did not price himself out of Newcastle last season, and the going rate on him isn't that much!! Is a damn good player that gets the job done with minimum fuss and no acolades. The season he was with Newcastle he played with Cory Morgan and David Longstaff..... I defy anyone to be put with them two and not get good points, Neil would get a hat full of points with them two. This year for us he started on the third line being mixed with Blaz, Simoes, Ferrara, Cooke, Neil, Mopes & Shmyr, this was all until about christmas time when he went with Clarke and Shmyr or Clarke and Cardrelli, and his points shot up. For the money he'd be on he is very good signing IMO, but then I suppose I am biased!!

Talking seriously if only for a minute,
Murphy is a top netminder and a proven EIHL starter. Where as you can't yet put him in the same bracket as Stevie Lyle, Murphy would be an asset to us. I'm not convinced he'd be happy to keep the bench warm although there could be a nice split of ice time between Rasto and Murphy and we know that Murphy is a much better netminder than Geoff Woolhouse.
Don't get me wrong, GW does a job for Panthers, but Murphy, Murphy is a winner.

must admit i like the physical side really?! That statement has to go down as understatement of the off-season so far!

also with this petricko argument, rasto cant speak any english so with him having petricko and stancok who r both good frends of his surely that is better for the team

I think you'll find that he will be learning English during the off-season if he is to have a full season in this country. Also, Rasta has picked up bits of English during his stay from last term, so it wouldn't really matter who we sign

Rasto can't speak English? Says who? I've only spoken to him once, but he certainly seemed able to communicate quite reasonably... not fluent or anything like that, but certainly enough to get by.

Don't shoot the messanger but the rumour on Steeltalk at the minute is your signing Cornish as a direct replacement for Shymr.

with everything Ellis is and has said about us having an enforcer who also NEEDS to be able to play aswell i think the cjances of us signing Cornish are non existent.

Sorry folks, but I and other have had PR on this and it could well happen. The quote is...
"Same kind of player" and "No sifgnificant difference financialy"
Not a done deal yet, but with Shymr apparently pricing himself out, ME IS interested and talking to Mr Cornish.

"Same kind of player" and "No sifgnificant difference financialy" If I were Ryan Shmyr I wouldn't be best pleased about being called the 'same kind of player' as Cornish. ;D Ryan can play a bit too. I sincerely hope not.
