Sorry chaps but i dont think we stand a ghost of a chance in either games, slag me of all you like im being realistic, stroll on next season and lets try again . SORRY. Got to agree with you im afraid. To be honest, I dont think any team has got a hope of beating the Steelers for the remainder of the season. Sorry, but i am too just being realistic. Never mind, bring on next year!

You do have a chance of a result if Adey does with Craighead what should have been done permanently two/three weeks ago. Panthers were a different team when Craighead was kicked out, they played like a team and fought like a team. But is Adey picking the starting line ups. ? Again respect for the Panthers fans last Saturday for their appreciation of ice hockey in applauding a championship winning team. Hope they are both great games. Mind you the wife is running out of valium, so not too close.

Comments about the CC final:
We're gonna get murdered.
Unless we see a drastic turnaround in the Panthers defending, powerplay and motivation in the next few days.
Sorry, but that is the only conclusion I can draw after recent weeks' events.

All I ask is that the Panthers win these two games against Steelers.
Is that asking too much?

I remember a few years back when the Sheffield Eagles played the mighty Wigan in the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final. In most peoples opinion (including mine) Sheffield might as well not have bothered turning up, it wasn't a case of would Wigan win, it was how many they'd win by.
However, Sheffield hadn't read the script and sweated blood and guts that day, upsetting Wigan with their game plan and going on to a remarkable victory. A week later I went to watch Sheffield play Wigan again in a league game....they absolutely hammered us.
What's the point I'm making?.....quite simple really, on any given occasion the underdog can upset the favourite, but they have to give 100% and have belief in themselves. Talent wise the Panthers are much closer to the Steelers than the Eagles were to Wigan, but you'll only beat us if your players give their all and you play as a team.
I certainly don't think it's a forgone conclusion, I've seen too many upsets in sport to believe it will be, but we will undoubtedly start as the favourites.
Let's hope it's a good game.
Is it likely to be a sell-out?
Regards
Doom

Is it a sell-out? I dunno Doom but it'll give us an impression of how loyal our support really is. We know we can attract 5000+ Panthers supporters for a game against you on a Saturday, but can we mid-week?
Knowing the way MB likes to use a smothering tactic in games between us I'd say we can expect Sheffield to play on the counter-attack. It'll be interesting to see if Panthers decide to risk falling into the trap or if we play a cautious offense. What is imperative is that Sheffield are forced into a position of opening-up in the 2nd leg so I'd say any win tomorrow will give us a reasonable shot in Sheffield.
However I must admit I wouldn't fancy our chances unless we have at least a 2 goal start. It's worth remembering they easily beat us on Saturday with a reserve NM and things do look bleak. To win we need to win face-offs, not make sloppy defensive plays, be clinical on the powerplay and not to fall into Blazer's trap. A few good checks would be nice too.
I'm glad Adey's finally spotted that playing the 3 Canadians [JC considers himself one] and 3 Fins together on the same lines might be a logical tactic. It seems our best chance.
I ain't confident about tomorrow, just hopeful.

Panthers Fans Go into the game and act as the 7th player, both if they play well or bad. Try to find songs/rhymes to keep the god mood up, and put a press against the Steelers GO PANTHERS GO

Is it a sell out? The Panthers website is saying tickets are going like hot cakes, so probably not When asked about his tactics Adey says he may change them for the Final, says he's fed up of the peppermint ones anyway ;D

In an idle moment this morning, I found myself trawling the web for inspirational hockey quotes as we prepare for tonight. This is a selection of what I came up with. Whether they are relevant or not to the Panthers tonight, I'll leave you to decide:
"The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a man's determination"
"The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don't play together, the club won't be worth a dime. "
"You need to play with supreme confidence, or else you'll lose again, and then losing becomes a habit."
"The winners in life think constantly in terms of I can, I will, and I am. Losers, on the other hand, concentrate their waking thoughts on what they should have or would have done, or what they can't do."
"There are still two or three guys who aren't willing to pay the price to win a game. This is not Wal-Mart. There are no discounts in this league."
Go out and give 'em hell tonight boys - it's the best chance of silverware we have - just 120 minutes of hockey - no surrender!!

The day of a cup-final.
Normally I'd have a sense of excitement and anticipation. Today I just feel empty.
3 weeks ago I was telling anyone who'd listen that we'd win both legs of the final any carry off the trophy. Unfotunately events and performances over the last few weeks leave me with a sense of dread & forboding. I just can't see anything other than a Steelers victory, as much as it pains me to say it.
I don't want to feel like this, I want to have a certain degree of optimism, I want to know what it's like to win something again, I want to feel that buzz that you only get as winners. I just cannot see it happening, but I so want to be proved wrong.
Sorry....

I've kept oh-so quiet on recent games/Paul Adey/Craighead etc.. etc.. As it's all pretty much been said on here. Tonight however, could make or break what's left of our season.
IMO, this game (and the eventual destination of that luvverly trophy) all hinges on who scores the first goal tonight...
If Sheffield do, then it's lights out, they can sit back, 4 men on the blueline and one forechecker and just pick us off as they did on their last couple of visits to the NIC. So in all likelyhood they'll go back to the HOS with a lead...
(And I wouldn't fancy our chances of coming back from a deficit up't there).
If we score first, it will give us some confidence, some momentum and mean Sheffield have to open up a bit more.. Which might give the likes of Jinner/Cadotte/Ahlroos more of a chance to skate and get round that smothering defence.
I think Sheffield will WANT to go back up there with a lead, but will look at our shaky defense and still fancy their chances in the second leg if they lose by the odd goal or two..
This is our chance to make amends for recent weeks, we're complete underdogs after recent games, the pressure is off, Sheffield have just won the league and coasted through two games against us (though Blaiser will have them up for this as always), and they're talking about a Grandslam, so the pressure is on them.
Sundberg needs a good game, he's due.
The defence needs to defend.
Craighead needs to keep his cool and show all the doubters (me included) just why, earlier in the season, he was being touted for league MVP.
And all the players need to give 100% effort every shift..
If all the above happens, we [glow=red,2,300]CAN[/glow] win. I have faith.
My head and hockey sense say Sheffield,
but the heart wants what the heart wants...,
and that's a Panthers win.
I'll be listening in, go Panthers!

WE CAN WIN THIS GAME, WE CAN WIN THIS TROPHY.
COME ON PANTHERS, SHOW US YOU CAN PLAY AS A TEAM AND HAVE THE SPIRIT AND DETERMINATION TO WIN.
We're gonna win Don't wanna be a loser - gonna win Cuz winnin' really is the only thing Get out of the way we're comin' in If ya wanna fight just step inside the ring Does anybody wanna take a swing? It's gotta be all or nothing Oh we're gonna be the champions Ya we're goin' all the way - we're gonna win win
We're gonna win Forget about a draw - we're gonna score And then we're gonna get a couple more Maybe another one just to be sure Make ya look just like an amateur Until the final whistle it's a war And then we gonna pick ya off the floor We wanna hear the crowd really roar Ya - we're comin' in we're gonna win
We're gonna win - we wanna win Cuz number one is everything We're gonna win - we wanna win We're gonna be the champions We're gonna win
WE NEED TO GIVE OUR TOTAL SUPPORT TO THE TEAM AND THEY WILL GIVE THEIR SUPPORT TO US.
[glow=red,2,300]COME ON YOU PANTHERS[/glow]

I am finally getting excited. The butterflies have started flapping in the tum. Forget the MEN Arena last year, forget Boxing Day last year, forget the last two Saturdays, It matters tonight! There is an opportunity for our bunch to put their name in Panthers folklore over the next week. Even though, overall, it has been a good season (runners-up is an improvement) have they got the mettle to rise to the occasion and finally bring home a pot?
I for one certainly hope so.
GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!

Did anyone hear the Sabre-rattling on trent FM news this morning? Aparantly, a club spokesman (who's that then?) has urged the Panther's fans to cheer them to victory tonight. Well, it was Jo and Twiggy, probably the nearest we'll get to fever-pitch around here!
Still, it's worth a go.
C'mon guys, shout till you're hoarse.
HERE WE GO PANTHERS, HERE WE GO! ;D ;D ;D
