For those that are interested: Sat Nov 4th Telford vs Chelmsford 5.30pm Sun Nov 5th Solihull vs Telford 6.00pm Ps. Absolutely no games, means Vipers, Nottm Uni or me. Pps. Play safe with fireworks

Wow... that is quick Becky! On topic, I'm playing against my old London Uni team on Saturday at Lee Valley, fo 11pm.
I updated the results in a previous post.
The player is completely fine, but has been told to stay off the ice for 3 weeks.

I'm playing for Oxford Uni, I used to coach Nottm Uni though.
If you want a friendly, let me know.

Aye will do. I'll have a word with the fixtures chap. I'm sure we'd be up for a friendly, just a case of trying to fit it in with all the other games we have to play (including the two wonderful trips to Whitley Bay we have to fit in this year...).

Did you go to Newcastle last night, Dicky? If so, how did you get on?

No sadly not. We had to cancel that game with them a while back, I'm not sure of the reasons behind it, but we're going to have to play them some other time instead.

Vipers beat Cambridge Uni on Friday either 13-0 or 12-0 then today they lost to Bracknell 13-2. We also played the 14's junior team in a challenge game after our Bracknell game and lost 3-2. They junior game was a laugh, including both full benches going on the ice during the game, even though most of our legs were too tired to even move!!

Question for you.
Would you check a girl, in a checking game?

Question for you. Would you check a girl, in a checking game? Well I play roller hockey and checked boys in a non-checking game. I don't see why girls shouldn't be checked in a non-checking game. If they didn't agree with being checked, they wouldn't of played in the first place!

You checked in a non-checking game? That was silly!
Its just that I got several big man checks on me. Whilst I'm all up for being checked... they a) need to know, that you don't check more than 2 feet from the boards: players are crippled like that, and b) deliberately going out to hit a girl is not cool. Generally speaking, I was the only one who was being checked out there. The guys were pretty much left alone. How is that fair?? I've checked people before, and been checked cleanly. But what happened on Saturday just took the p*ss. Also considering we only had 8 players to their 20. One of our players fell on the ice and the ULU player started hacking at him like his stick was an axe. No penalty. And before you ask... the referree did see... looked down at the player... and skated off.
I'm just a bit bitter. We lost, but I still would have felt the same way if we won. From a safety point of view... thugs should not be allowed on the ice.

I personally think that it should only be done without intention to injure a player.

Question for you. Would you check a girl, in a checking game? Hmm, tricky question Here's how I see it... If it is a competitive game that has been specified as checking, and a girl is playing in this game, then any girls playing should be treated in the same way as the guys that are playing, hence checking a girl is fine. If a girl (or indeed anyone) does not want to be checked, they shouldn't play in a checking game. In training however, it is a different matter, as when it comes to this you don't know whether a girl will want to be checked or not (indeed with the womens leagues being non-checking, it is quite possible they may not be used to checking/want to play checking). I therefore err on the side of caution, and not check until I know that they dont mind playing checking. Usually I find this out when said girl smashes me into the boards, and then i know! Having re-read this I think that this really applies to anyone playing the game, not specifically girls at all, in that you shouldn't check people if you dont know they dont mind, and also anyone playing in a full contact game is 'fair game', so to speak. But with the emphasis being on 'fair', the hits have got to be clean. In your specific case Stormbabe it isn't good that they targetted you with some dangerous hits, had you been going around throwing out cheap shots?

It was the first 5 mins of the game! I hardly had time to do anything! I think that ULU were bitter as I was going to sign for them this season, then opted for some other team. I know I'm fair game, I don't mind checking at all. I just think its wrong to target a girl. But heck, I got up and threw some hits after that. It just made me more aware. I dont do cheap shots... I'm not that sort of person to!
