Thought I'd use this thread to find out how people are getting on in their games, as we don't get results for any other teams except the Lions.
So far my team, Streatham Storm lost 6-1 to Slough and drew 2-2 with Bracknell. Both games featured many penalties and were very frustrating for the players. Both games were womens Premier.
This Sunday (24th) we take on my old team, the Kingston Diamonds in Hull, in what should be a close game. Personally I'm a little nervous playing against them.
I heard that Nottingham Vipers lost 7-1 to Solihull. Apparently it was a closer game than the scoreline suggests, and all the damage was done during some weaker stints for Nottingham.

Streatham Storm played Kingston Diamonds in what must be one of the best games so far. Unfortunately we were at the wrong end of the score board and lost 7-4. I got given a very dubious penalty for holding! We meet again in 2 weeks time, this time in Streatham. Its amazing how much travelling takes out of you. It took over 6 hours to get home from Hull!!
Also, although Becky wont like me posting this.
Bracknell 22-0 Nottingham Nottingham 0-11 Sheffield
Don't have any match reports. Sorry. Welcome to the Premier!!

There's some good talent out there! There are lots of awesome women hockey players. Angela Taylor from Scotland, got a scholarship to New Hampshire University in America last year. Beth Kavanagh (plays for Sheffield) looks to be heading the same way. I wish I was that good!!

Lol
I must admit when Iv seen the shadows A playing iv been very impressed. You can always tell they are girls tho by the way they skate, even in a game I saw that got a bit physical and was a good standard the girls still skate totally differently!

That's true!
I tell you what though, you can tell the Shadows do alot of game situation drills, their positional play was real good and they often took the puck behind the net and fired it back into the slot rather than take the first open shot. Some quite good results from it too!

Yesterdays result:
Slough Phantoms 30 - 1 Nottingham 12 year old Megan Rathbone scored Nottingham's only goal!!!
Today, the Streatham Storm (me) takes on the Kingston Diamonds and we hope to overturn the 7-4 defeat at Hull Arena.
I'll keep you posted on the result. FO is 4.30pm which gives us plenty of time in the pub afterwards!!!

Didn't really want to post 4 in a row and look really sad. BUT WE WON!!!! 3-2! It was a really close game, and they pulled their goalie at the end, to try and get the equaliser, but they didn't and we won!!! I'm so excited!
That gives us 3 points and 1-1-2 and go 4th in the league!

Kingston 10-1 Vipers Solihull 9-3 Streatham Storm
Us Streatham girls just didn't turn up really, and that is a shame, but all credit to Solihull. (My best game for Storm apparently with a +/- 0!!)

I've been working for most of our games so I can't say this coming from me, but I've been told by the team that the games have been closer than the score says.
Our team's a fairly new team. We've had lots of people start this season, and some have left from last season due to other commitments. The team has pulled together a lot, and the team spirit couldn't be any better.
We've got a home game a week on Saturday (October 28th) against Guildford with a 5.30 face off. You'll all be able to catch a bit of women's hockey before Panthers starts ;D

A fixture: Saturday 21st October 22:00 (I think that is the time, if someone knows different then shout out!) Nottingham Mavericks B vs Sheffield Bears B (university hockey) Which should be straight after the Panthers match I believe. If any of the Ice Tigers guys stick around to watch you might see a couple of familiar faces...

Yep, its straight after the Panthers. Its THE first game of the university calendar, and should be a good one too. Its free to watch, altho they do want everyone to sit in the 3 blocks behind the benches. Just go for a few drinks after the Panthers and go back in. So can you give us any names??? The squads on the website... www.nottingham-mavericks.co.uk/

Nottingham Uni B 1-8 Sheffield Uni B.
Apparently Nottingham were 1-0 until the coach changed the goalie. I wasn't at the game, so I can't comment.

Nottingham Uni A played Cambridge Uni last night in Peterborough and won 14-2 in what was a very one-sided game.
Details can be found on the Nottingham Mavericks website.

Oxford Uni Vikings 10-2 Nottingham Uni C team
I got 2 assists, no penalties. That was a turn up for the books (usually no points and loads of pens). It was very scary playing against the team I used to coach, but all good fun. (I play for Oxford Uni btw). But well done to Nottingham for making a step up a division.
A mediocre performance from the Vikings as a whole, and completely outshot Nottingham 62 to 23. Period scores 3-1, 3-0, 4-1.

Nottingham Vipers 2 - 8 Guildford
An improvement for the girls compared to their earlier games.
