Happy days! If you want an 'away day' book a hotel in town still and just go to different places. It sounds ridiculous but I did it a couple of years ago and last season and its great! Just book a hotel and try and get yourself lost with a few mates. Like i do, we re back in the gateway this year ;D

Or alternatively, staying at home (or with my sister in my case) for nothing frees up much more money for beer and two days of unhealthy takeaways. Perfect.

Some of you may have noticed that the delillama has not contributed his considerable wisdom to this thread yet. ;D This is because he has decided to go on a retreat, to contemplate the meaning of life. Our intrepid photographer did manage to catch up with him at his Attercliffe hideaway, and sent us this exclusive photograph of him searching for his latest pearls of inspiration to share with you all: ;D ;D ;D LONG LIVE THE CULT OF DORIS!!

Great news! There's nothing finer than leaving your front door at 10 on a Saturday morning knowing that you're going straight to the pub.
Looks like I'd better start saving!

Our playoff pot is well and truely filling up... oh and by the way hope you peeps don't mind me mentioning this, but our gang had a little secret pot on a shelf in the castle pub, we had an emergency pound coin and a packet of scratchings in it....just incase we got peckish and the money well.............was just there incase.....it was put there before the playoffs and do you know what, someone pinched it!!!!! how cruel was that.. bet they wonderd what that was all about, pinching a pot, and finding a secret stash!!!! so if anyone knows who it was....shame on them!!!! anyway back to the subject....whoooooohoooooo, happy days

Excellent news!
Would be nice too if they'd board over the other rink to make room for stalls and stuff - stop the concourse being so crowded.

actually i was referring to the decision to stop at home and eat healthier food ;D Stay at my sister's - yes. Eat healthier food - no chance. Pizza, kebabs, chips and chocolate are the normal playoff diet for me. All starting with English breakfast in the Castle first thing on the Saturday morning of course.

I think that booking the whole arena given the numbers involved and the money that is generated would only be fair to the paying punter although to be honest i think it is wishful thinking but you never know....

Does that mean you can go or does it clash with Chris' 30th?

I believe that there's at least one junior game scheduled for that Saturday in the Olympic Rink... so there'd have to be some negotiating going on to get that to happen.

Does that mean you can go or does it clash with Chris' 30th? We'll be back for then. may need to work on the streets to get the extra cash for everything but it'll be worth it. And hopefully if everything goes through i'll be a 5 min walk from the stadium!

It will need to be 'fresher' this year with other stuff to do and added attractions. If we turn up and it's the same old tired format the I think the league will get blasted, especialy when details of what was on offer from the other tenders gets 'released' - as it no doubt will...
That said, it is the better venue for watching hockey, it's just very limited space wise and therfore you are restricted in what else can be done 'on-site'. I do though like my weekend away.

Oh well in that case i guess we should forget it then, and whilst we are at it let us forget the whole weekend , the showpiece for senior professional hockey in this country MUST take a back seat to those very important kids and their proud parents watching them.... Oh wait lets think about this..... To paraphrase a really good actor in a really good film....
