He has reurned the bedside of his very ill father. Steve Lyle will play for blaze after an initial approach for Jody was turned down by the player.

That's a nightmare for the Blaze.
It can't be easy for Trevor, but family comes first. I hope his Dad will be okay.
Personally I'd have taken Kudrna over Lyle.

Sorry to hear that is dad is still very ill, hope that things change for the better.
Family comes 1st.
I would have thought Jody would have jumped at the chance.

I agree about Jody, you could have written the script eh?
Loses in the quarter finals, then shuts you out of the final or, makes the title winning penalty save!
It's wide open now IMO, as good as Steve can be, he wil need to be imense.

wouldnt of minded seeing Lyle here to be honest (before Rasto)
we havnt consistently struggled with Koenig so wasnt overly worried about him but it sure wont do Blaze any favours.
All the best to Trevor and his family, hope his dad is well soon

I hope Trevor's father makes a swift recovery from his illness whatever it may be.
Going onto the hockey side of things, also bad news for the Blaze on the loss of Koenig. Easily the best netminder in the league this season so Lyle is going to have to top that, especially as everyone steps up this weekend.

Real shame for both Koenig and the Blaze. Best wishes to him.
Will be interesting to see if Lyle can step up and deliver, fair amount of pressure on him as the Blaze fans will expect him to see them through to the treble.

I amhearing now that the league blocked the move for Lehman, deciding hewas cup tied. That would also preclude a move for Ladie. For once, I think the league have got something right! Much as I would have liked to see Jody give it a go.

This is a real shame for Blaze, but our thoughts should be with Trevor and his family. I also understand the league blocked the move for Jody on the basis that he'd already featured in the Play offs - and that has to be right, doesn't it? There was some talk of Stevie Lyle coming here, but there were issues with transfer windows etc. Interesting that Panthers had already got him lined up to replace Rasto if his injury hadn't cleared up - another example of Mike Ellis's excellent planning. Stevie is an experienced keeper, and won't let Blaze down, but Koenig has such an effect with his style, especially his stick handling, that their D might not be used to something different.

All the best for Koenig and his dad.
I think that coventry will struggle with lyle in goal. I dont think much of him. I just dont think he's good enough to play in this league or any other top league in the world but he will probably prove me wrong.

I dunno mate his team have just won the french league and got to the finals of the playoffs, id say hes more than capable to play in this league!

Dad comes before our love of the game. Well done Trevor. Finally the league seem to be doing the 'rules' correctly.Phew.

Best regards to Trevor and his family
Dont underestimate Lyle, hes playing for a contract in the UK next season IMO. Every single coach will be watching him a lot this weekend. Hes too good for a backup but not many teams would take the risk at the moment I dont think as #1
As for this weekend, well id rather face Stevie than Koenig, lets hope we get to play him. Coventry on their game are good enough to carry him if needed!

Steve Lyle will play for blaze after an initial approach for Jody was turned down by the player. Who told you that ? Jody wanted to play for the Blaze but wasn't allowed to by the league. In fact, he is pretty upset that the Steelers helped stop him playing for a team that he holds in very high regard.

You are not correct - Jody turned down the request, which was academic as the league blocked it anyway.

The rule is that you can replace a goalie if he's injured isn't it? Is Koenig injured?

I'm glad the league blocked any potential move for Lehman. For once I think they've got it spot on - allowing a player who's participated in the same cup competition for an eliminated team to then sign on for another would be madness in my opinion. The goalies rule is a contentious one and has to have it's limits too.
All that said - it's unfortunate that Trevor has had to leave in these circumstances. Best wishes to him and his father.

In fact, he would have loved to have played for Coventry again. You don't play for a club for 3 years and lose all your love to the club overnight.

The rule is that you can replace a goalie if he's injured isn't it? Is Koenig injured? YES HE IS ! He is Hurting Emotionally , you would too if you're father was so ill that you had to miss a very important part of you're sporting career to attend his bedside .

I admit it would be very harsh to say no when his father is ill, but the supposed rule is that you can only replace him if he is physically injured. Either amend the rule or enforce it, don't ignore it.

People shout and scream for the Elite League to show some common sense and then when they do people object and say things should be done by the book.
If it was us what would we think?

Correct. So why are Cov allowed to bring in another goalie Ermmm.... basic humanity? For the second time today (Sheffield's fine being the other) the EIHL have shown common sense in their decisions and I agree with what they've done. They could make it three in a row and give Sunday's final to Dave Cloutman....... or is that one sensible decision too many! My sympathies to Trevor and his family at a very difficult time.
